After launching Boost Mobile in Australia and New Zealand in 2000, Peter Adderton, Craig Cooper and Kirt McMaster expanded the brand to the United States in 2001 through a joint venture with Nextel Communications. Boost Mobile used Nextel’s iDEN network to offer unlimited push-to-talk service for a dollar a day, at a time when cell phone plans offering unlimited calls were still uncommon.

Mint Mobile said it didn’t have all the bands it needed and after trying a few other providers I bought a trial of Boost for less than $2, plugged in the SIM and at first it didn’t work , but I was so overwhelmed as there were no providers working so I hung up the phone and was over it! Well today it rang and I was so confused that I picked it up and tried to make a call – it went through and I have a phone number in about Phone!!!
