What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
Having children used to be expected in most cultures, but in the modern world it is becoming more and more optional.
This is why it can be a controversial and sensitive topic.
But thankfully, there are some clear clues that will let you know if he’s getting baby fever and is hoping to make you the mother of his future children.
25 Big Signs A Man Wants To Have A Baby With You
1) He starts talking a lot about babies in general
Babies are quite an interesting subject. I mean they are the future of the species and everyone.
But if your man can’t stop talking about her, then it could be more than just a lazy fascination with the wonder of human life.
He may have a “baby brain”; in other words, he wants to have a baby with you.
When he starts discussing early childhood development, pregnancy, the way other people raise their children, and such topics, your alarm bells should be ringing.
Whether they are good alarm bells or the scary kind depends on your situation.
But you can be sure that this is one of the big signs that a man wants to have a baby with him.
2) He’s trying to be a hero to you
One of the big signs a man wants to have a baby with you is that he’s trying to be a hero to you.
It’s not always big or dramatic, but if you know what to look for in his behavior you’ll see what I mean.
There’s actually a psychological term for what I’m talking about here. This is called the “hero instinct”. This concept is currently making waves to explain what really drives men in relationships.
I know it may all seem kind of silly. Nowadays women don’t need anyone to save them. They don’t need a “hero” in their life.
But that misses the point of what heroic instinct is all about.
The hero instinct is an instinctive need men have to perform for woman in this life. This is deeply rooted in male biology.
When a man truly feels like your hero, he becomes more loving, attentive, and committed to a long-term relationship with you.
But how do you trigger this instinct in him?
The trick is to make him feel like a hero in an authentic way. And there are things you can say, messages you can send, requests you can use to trigger that natural biological instinct.
If you need help with this, watch James Bauer’s excellent free video here.
He tells you everything you need to know about the hero instinct, including how to trigger it in your man.
I don’t often recommend videos, but the hero instinct is one of the most intriguing concepts in relationship psychology that I’ve come across.
Here is another link to his unique video.
3) He talks about getting more serious and committing
Based on personal experiences and friends’ situations, I’ve noticed something interesting about pregnancy.
The topic of pregnancy can be a real litmus test of how serious someone is about a relationship.
I don’t mean to say that everyone who doesn’t want to have children isn’t really in love…
That’s clearly not the case, and there are many reasons why one or both people in a relationship might not want to have children or wait.
But the point is that in many cases where a man is horrified at the idea of having children, it may (again, not always) be because he’s not actually in love and he knows the situation isn’t “right.” ” is.
He doesn’t want to form a permanent relationship with this girl.
On the other hand, a guy who doesn’t shy away from getting serious can be the polar opposite of one who wants to stay loose…
In fact, when he looks forward to getting more serious and getting involved in different ways, it can often go hand in hand with an openness to the idea of having children.
4) The idea of marriage does not scare him
Regarding the last point, a guy who wants to have a baby with you will not be afraid of the idea of marriage.
In fact, he might be the one bringing it up.
If the idea of marriage is something he speaks positively about, then that’s one of the biggest signs that having a baby with you is in his future plans.
Of course, not everyone who is married has children, but even today in our modern times there is often a connection between marriage and having children.
If the idea of marriage appeals to him, then the idea of having children probably will, too.
Chances are that if he wants to marry you, he will want to join his life with yours and also have children with you.
The question, of course, is whether you want that.
5) He wants you to stop using birth control
Let’s talk about practical things here:
If your husband wants you to stop using birth control, then obviously that means he wants to have a baby with you, or at least is open to the idea.
The important thing here is that some men think they want a baby, when in fact it’s more the idea that excites them than the reality.
Before you agree to give up birth control or take things to the next level, you need to be sure your man isn’t just fantasizing.
Does he really want a child and is he really ready for that responsibility?
Or has he just watched too many Hallmark movies and now thinks he’s up to the challenge?
In some cases, there’s a big gap between fantasy and reality, so make sure you don’t do anything impulsive either.
6) He loves to take trips into the past
Another of the really big signs that a guy wants a baby with you is when he starts making frequent trips down memory lane.
He opens photo albums from his youth, leafs through them and marvels at his young self…
Or he scrolls on Facebook, looks at memories of himself and his siblings as little rascals and talks about the good old days.
This is a classic sign that the idea of having children is on his mind.
The thing is, he might not always be conscious of this as it can be a subconscious thing at times.
As Life Falcon puts it:
“If he talks a lot about his childhood and his mother’s relationship with his father, he might be thinking about creating a little version of himself. “Or if he pulls out all the pictures from his childhood and starts talking about himself as a kid, all his activities, his life as a baby, then he definitely wishes he had one.”
7) He is focused on saving for the future
Some men are more practical than others, but saving for the future often goes hand in hand with a conscious or unconscious desire to have children.
If he’s focused on saving for the future, it can be one of the strongest signs he wants to have a baby with you.
He wants to make sure he has a nest egg saved before he starts filling the nest with little tits.
This is a sign that the guy is responsible and doesn’t see children as just a fun adventure or some sort of lifetime achievement.
That means he’s really willing to face the financial reality of having to take care of new people.
That’s a good sign if you’re also interested in the idea of having children with him as well.
8) He starts talking about what your future children would look like
Many people in serious relationships have talked about their future children in a funny or dreamy way.
But when he starts talking about what your future children would look like and how he will decorate their nursery or what nicknames he will give them, then things have probably moved on to something more serious…
After all, it’s one thing to think about your future potential children as a kind of face-mash game.
But talking about it in detail and looking like he’s really into it is something else entirely.
This is less of a fantasy game and more of a real plan if you ask me.
Sonya Schwartz writes about this and states:
“If your guy starts talking a lot about how his brother’s kids are more like him than their mother, he’ll eventually start talking about what your babies are going to look like. “If you love each other and the relationship is serious, you’ll probably think along the same lines.”
9) He talks about how in love he is with you
Another of those bright and big signs that a man wants to have a baby with you is when he talks to you about how much he cares about you.
If he often talks about how much he loves you, it may also mean that he wants you to have a baby.
A serious man who wants to raise a healthy and successful boy or girl doesn’t want to do it with any woman he meets.
He wants to do it with the woman he is in love with and values above all else.
When he tells you that you are that woman, he probably means it!
do you feel the same
10) He’s suddenly really into unprotected sex
If you use condoms in general and he suddenly seems to have developed a mental or physical allergy to them, then take note…
This can often be a harbinger that a man wants to have a baby with you, or at least no longer has mental blocks or issues with the idea of becoming a parent with you.
Unless he’s a complete idiot, he’ll remember 9th grade science and how babies are made.
This means that if he seems to be finding unprotected sex, he’s probably okay with having a baby with you as well.
As Astrid Mitchell writes, it’s not always open when a man wants to have a baby with you.
“Maybe you let your husband slip and have sex without a condom. When this occurs, your man will have an immediate reaction to pull himself out to prevent ejaculation into you. “But lately he refuses to back down. This is very serious and you should try not to let your husband do this (unless, of course, you are also ready for a baby).”
If he thinks unprotected sex is okay because you can use the rhythm method, talk to him directly about the fact that it’s never a completely safe method of birth control.
11) He is jealous of other people having babies
As I mentioned in point one, keep your eyes peeled for a real surge in your man’s interest in babies in general.
You can also observe how he behaves towards your friends and colleagues who have babies.
An example is when he gets excited and even a bit jealous when friends of yours are having a baby.
It’s not always that he’s happy for her.
He might start commenting on their parenting skills, how they don’t “deserve” children, or even how he would do better.
That means he definitely has paternity on his mind…

12) He becomes an amateur gynecologist
Now you may be wondering what I mean by this heading and I’ll explain…
It’s obviously a good thing that your guy is attracted to you and likes to get involved below the belt…
But when he starts to really care about your fertility and when you’re ovulating, it can mean more than just sexual attraction.
It sounds a lot more like he’s trying to get you pregnant!
As Onyedika Boniface writes, one of the most important signs a man wants to have a baby with you is when he starts to take an interest in your ovulation cycle and fertile window.
It’s certainly hopeful that he asked your opinion first and didn’t just plow on.
But you can be warned if he’s suddenly asking weird technical questions about your period and ovulation.
That sounds like a lot more than pillow talk to me.
13) He offers to babysit for friends and family
Another major sign that a man wants to have a baby with you is when he starts to really get into babysitting.
Suddenly taking care of your wild nephews isn’t such a chore anymore.
It’s his pleasure.
He loves telling them stories and watching movies. He seems to have gone full daddy mode.
This is exercise.
14) He is particularly interested in films about fatherhood
There are some good movies about being a father, such as Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness and the 1991 classic Father of the Bride.
Movies about family stuff tend to be classified under the romantic comedy label, but a guy who gets baby fever will have a surprising crush on them.
He will relate to the atmosphere and plot of the father because he will think about it later.
15) Pregnancy anxiety makes him happy
The only way a man who isn’t ready for a baby will respond to a pregnancy anxiety is to go completely freaky.
But if his reaction to you wondering if you missed your period is to smile or nod without fear, then you definitely have a man who wants to be a father.
He wouldn’t be so good at faking it if he was panicking.
If he’s okay with the idea and his first instinct is to be happy, rest assured that this is one of the big signs a man wants a baby with him.
16) His biological clock is ticking
Men do not have a biological clock in the same sense as women.
After all, a 70-year-old man can still have children.
But men can get baby fever too. It basically happens when they feel like they’ve done the other things they want to do in life and now they want to be a father.
It is really that easy.
Writing about this, Lauren Vinopal states:
“Researchers have found that male baby fever presents itself differently than female baby fever.
“Although women desire fewer children over time, as men grow older they want more offspring and begin to raise families.”
17) He’s obsessed with the idea of ”settling down”
Settling down is an interesting term. When people say that, it usually means they want to get their career in order, buy a house, and start a family.
Or they might want to rent an apartment and meet a girl who can take them shot after shot at the bar.
My point is that it’s a pretty relative term.
But nonetheless, when he talks a lot about settling down, it can often include wanting to have babies with him.
18) He is particularly curious about your childhood and upbringing
Aside from wanting to know about problems that might have happened way back in your family tree (which I will discuss later), a man who wants to have children with you will be very curious about your childhood and upbringing…
He’ll want to know what it was like for you growing up where you grew up, how you grew up and with the values and upbringing you had…
He’s looking at your experiences because he’s thinking about what you can copy or innovate in raising your own children.
19) He’s pondering names for his future brood
Not only will he think about what your future children might look like, but he will also think about names.
If he is trying to come up with names for your future potential children then maybe it has crossed the line from a joke to a real goal he has.
This is especially true when he’s trying to get your reactions to the names and see which ones you like and don’t like.
If he’s just kidding, why should he care what you think about certain baby names?
20) He often discusses topics related to family and parenting
It is true that topics related to family and parenting are interesting.
Stereotypically, they’re the kind of topics that women prefer to discuss than men.
But that’s not always the case, and it’s especially not the case for a man who wants to be a father.
He’ll talk about education, parenting, and all sorts of similar topics because he wants to do it right.
21) He is particularly interested in your family history
Another big sign that a man wants to have a baby with you is when he begins to take a particularly strong interest in your family history.
It becomes less like he’s just having a conversation and more like he’s investigating his children’s future mother.
When you tell him about your grandfather who had Parkinson’s, his face suddenly gets particularly worried and he asks if it runs more in the family…
He is particularly concerned about anything in your past that he fears may affect a future child, including any abuse or tragedy that may have happened.
He wants to make sure he knows your story before going all the way…
22) He’s starting to be more mature about his emotions
A man who wants to be a father and is serious about it will be fully aware that he has to be up to the job.
This has a practical aspect in terms of finances, stability and physical health.
But there is also an emotional and personal side.
He will want to become his best self and make sure he starts clarifying his philosophy of life, ideals of raising children and learning how to manage his own emotions.
As Cornelia Tjandra writes:
“Rather than hiding his feelings behind a macho facade, he begins to calm down and release his inhibitions around you.
“A man like this will make a great and caring father in the near future.”
23) He’s starting to open up more about the ins and outs of his own parents
We all have complicated and emotional coming-of-age histories.
Even families that are perfect on the outside have a lot of baggage and complications beneath the surface.
One of the big signs a guy wants to have a baby with you is when he starts opening up more about his own upbringing.
He can talk about how difficult it was for him to get through certain things as a child.
Or how he would have liked it to be different.
Or he focuses on the positive and the way his upbringing was ideal and positive.
His thoughts are definitely on children and having children…
24) He talks about his desire to become a father
Another classic sign that a man wants to have a baby with you is when he’s open about how much he wants to be a father.
There are a lot of clichés these days about boys avoiding responsibility or just wanting to live wild and free.
But when a man is truly in love and ready to commit, he won’t be like that…
And if being a father is important to him and he loves you, then he’ll probably be upfront about it and tell you how much the idea appeals to him.
The more you show him that you respect and value that desire, the more open he will be about it.
This relates to what I mentioned earlier: the heroic instinct. When a man feels needed, wanted, and respected, he’s more likely to feel a strong attraction.
And it’s so easy to know the right phrases to trigger his hero instinct and make him the man he’s always wanted to be.
All this and more is revealed in this excellent free video by James Bauer. It is well worth watching if you are willing to take things to the next level with your man.
25) He talks about what an amazing mom you will be
One of the most inspiring and biggest signs a man wants to have a baby with you is when he starts imagining you as a mother.
He may be talking about what a good mom you’re going to be and talking about you in ways you’re not used to.
If you want to be a mother, that’s flattering, if not, it can obviously be a little awkward.
But when he talks about what a great mom you’re going to be, you can be sure he means well.
If he keeps saying it, it’s an even bigger sign that he’s thinking about future parenthood.
As Joseph Sumpter puts it:
“To be good that you will be a good mother is a great compliment; It’s not an ordinary compliment and if you get it from your husband a lot, just know that it’s a sign, especially if he compliments you every now and then.”
Welcome to the family
Now that you know if this guy wants a baby with you, it’s time to decide if you feel the same way.
Do you also want to expand your family, or are you not ready for it yet?
Be sure of what you want and be honest and open with your husband.
Together you can make the best decision to expand your family and have a baby or not.
How do I know if my boyfriend wants kids?
- He doesn’t get annoyed by crying kids. …
- He takes care of you. …
- He’s ready to take it to the next level. …
- He loves playing with kids. …
- He’s financially secure. …
- He’s on good terms with your and his family. …
- He’s becoming more mature emotionally.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
Men in particular take longer to warm up to the possibility of fatherhood. While some men are more inclined to start a family, many of them get nervous at the idea of raising a baby. But when he’s ready to welcome a little bundle of joy, he definitely shows some unmistakable signs. Here are some signs that your man wants to have a baby in the near future.
1. He doesn’t get angry at crying children
We have all seen a child crying and screaming in public at least once. Those who aren’t ready for parenthood might get angry and quickly leave the area while making comments about how they hate when children cry. But a man who is willing to have children of his own will be more understanding and may even offer the parents a few words of encouragement or help.
2. He cares about you
As already mentioned, if a man wants to start his own family, he will adjust his behavior accordingly. Got a cold? He’s finished with a warm bowl of soup and medicine. Do you need something? You can always rely on him. If you sense that your man is becoming more reliable, then he is probably preparing for fatherhood.
3. He’s ready to take it to the next level
If you’re not married yet, but your boyfriend says he wants to have a baby with you, then you’re probably asking yourself, “Why does he want a baby with me?” Well, it might be because he’s ready to have it to take to the next level. Maybe he is ready to marry you and build a loving family together.
4. He loves to play with children
When a man says he wants to have a baby with you, his demeanor shows it too. Does he enjoy playing with children, fooling around with them and laughing at their silly little antics? If he’s excited when he has the opportunity to play with a child, then he may be ready to have a little one of his own.
5. He is financially secure
A man thinks logically; He knows how much it costs to take care of a child. For this reason, a man who wants to have children definitely takes his finances very seriously. A telltale sign your husband is ready for a baby is if he has a long-term financial plan and doesn’t overspend on frivolous things.
6. He has a good relationship with your family and his
A reliable father knows how important a comprehensive support system is in raising a child. So, if he develops a strong connection with your and his relatives, it means that when it comes time to start his own family, he wants to get along with them.
7. He’s becoming emotionally mature
Men are taught from a young age not to show their emotions as it is seen as a sign of weakness. But a man who is ready to become a father may see the flaw in this mindset. So instead of hiding his feelings behind a macho facade, he starts to slow down and lose his inhibitions around you. A man like this will become a great and caring father in the near future.
8. He pays more attention to children
Your husband pays more attention to children when you go out. For example, cooing at a baby while queuing at the supermarket checkout, or smiling at a child while walking through the park. He may even make a comment about how he would like to have one of his own with you.
9. He’s casual about birth control
If he doesn’t seem too concerned about birth control or contraception, then he may be beginning to embrace the idea of fatherhood. It’s possible that he takes the “if it happens, it happens” attitude when it comes to pregnancy. Maybe he won’t even worry if you miss your period and instead tell you that he’s happy about it.
10. He calms down
Maybe your husband was a party animal when you first entered the relationship. But now he’s calmed down, he doesn’t go out as often and he’s starting to take care of his health. Men who settle down are probably preparing to become fathers, whether they realize it or not.
11. He thinks you’ll be a great mom
Sometimes when a man says he wants to have a baby with you, he also makes a comment about how you will be a good mom. When he compliments you like this, he is clearly expressing his desire to become a father. That’s a sign that he can see you both starting a family of your own.
12. He talks to you about the future
Has your husband started talking to you about the future? Does this future include a bunch of kids running around the house? Talking about the future is often intimidating for guys, especially when they’re not ready to start a family with you. So, when your man talks to you about the future like it’s no big deal, that’s a really big sign that he’s ready to have a baby and start a family with you in the not-too-distant future.
Message to take away
Deciding to raise a child is not an easy step, especially for men. So when a guy says he wants to have a baby with you, he’s definitely ready. He probably thought about the decision hundreds of times and made the necessary plans.
Hopefully you now know what to look for when determining if your man is interested in starting a family. So how did things go with your husband? Also, how do you feel about this? Remember that having a baby is a shared decision and your opinion is just as important as his in the matter. Whatever you decide, we wish you the best of luck!
Do guys find pregnancy attractive?
Although you might not always feel sexy during pregnancy, a new study suggests some men may actually be more attracted to pregnant women.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
More: Sexuality and Breastfeeding
A new study put together by a team of Italian and Swedish doctors turned to online fetish groups to present a sexual preference questionnaire for sexual and lactating women, and the results might surprise you.
The researchers behind the study wanted to find out what the connection was between those who are attracted to pregnant women and their upbringing, and it turns out the connection leads to whether or not they are the older siblings.
The results clearly showed that the more men between the ages of one and a half and five years old were exposed to the pregnant and/or breastfeeding mother, they were more likely to develop sexual attraction to the pregnant and/or breastfeeding women they are. More importantly, this is largely pronounced among older siblings, with 66 percent of the 2,000+ respondents having at least one younger sibling who was exposed to maternal pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.
These findings support the idea of ”sexual imprinting,” a natural process by which your future partner preferences are determined from an early age, in most cases based on a parent. Generally, this pregnant/lactating attraction is not discovered until the age of 18, but is shaped from a much younger age.
It was also raised that there is some overlap with Sigmund Freud’s concept of the ‘oedipal phase’, the stage of psychosexual development in children aged three to six years, although according to these survey results the developmental mechanism is more consistent with sexual imprinting.
What does this mean for women and their partners? You may be able to predict how they feel about you if you’re pregnant (especially if they happen to be the older sibling).

Do men get baby fever?
They learned that both men and women can develop it, although its intensity varies from person to person and within the same person over time. “Baby fever is normal, it varies a lot, and people don’t have to feel it,” says Gary Brase, associate professor of psychology at Kansas State University.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
If at some point you’ve felt an irrepressible, inexplicable urge to have a baby, you might be interested to know that there’s a term for it — baby fever — and that it’s a real physical and emotional phenomenon, according to a study in the Emotion magazine issue.
Although it can be linked to another baby craving phenomenon, commonly known as the “biological clock,” where women recognize that their biological baby-making window is dwindling, baby fever is not specific to women. Men can get all goo-goo-ga-ga, too, says a couple at Kansas State University who first marveled at the sensation after the birth of their second child.
Gary and Sandra Brase began a formal survey to find out if baby fever actually exists. They learned that both men and women can develop it, although its intensity varies from person to person and within the same person over time. “Baby fever is normal, it varies greatly, and people don’t need to feel it,” says Gary Brase, associate professor of psychology at Kansas State University.

The Brases then launched an analysis measuring baby fever in a variety of ways. In one study, they asked people to rank the importance of being famous, having sex, having money and having a baby. These results break down as follows: “Women considered having a baby to be more important than men, and men considered having sex to be more important than having a baby,” says Gary Brase.
The researchers also examined three possible explanations for baby fever: the sociocultural view, the by-product view, and the adaptationist view. From a sociocultural point of view, people – especially women – are used to longing for babies. “People might think they want kids because they’re supposed to have kids,” says Brase.
Brase and his wife asked 80 college students of different ages to rate how often they wanted to have children and then administered a test that rated how strongly they felt they belonged to certain gender roles. After sorting the data, according to Gary Brase, they found that the sociocultural view “wasn’t a good indicator of how strongly people felt about having children.”
The by-product view holds that people want children to fulfill a need for nurturing. But the Brases found that even that theory didn’t tell the whole story.
Eventually, the Brases turned their lens to the adaptationists’ view, who theorize that baby fever is an emotional signal that subconsciously signals to the brain that it might be a good time to have a baby. In testing this hypothesis, the Brases found that positive exposure to babies (ones who coo and smile and smell good) predisposed people to having children, while negative exposure (crying, smelly infants) predisposed people to the idea of having children parenthood recoiled. Another factor they considered concerned the inevitable tradeoffs that come with having children—less time, less money, and less freedom to do what you want, when you want.

“People’s desire to have children is most influenced by the positive and negative interactions and the trade-offs,” concludes Brase.
The Brases haven’t delved deeply into how people’s baby desire develops once they have children. But they did find that the average rate of baby fever in women went down after having children, while that in men went up. What gives? “I’ve noticed the change in my own desires after having kids,” says Brase. “Babies were more attractive and I wanted to hold them.”
Perhaps women are more realistic and realize the tremendous amount of work that baby fever, accomplished, entails? “Perhaps,” Brase surmises, “women in higher positions were beginning to realize that raising children is really difficult.”
What are the signs of a man who impregnated a woman?
Couvade syndrome or sympathetic pregnancy happens when a pregnant woman’s partner has symptoms that uncannily mimic pregnancy. Actually, it’s not uncommon for men to have symptoms like constipation, gas, bloating, irritability, weight gain, and nausea while their partner is expecting.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
In Couvade syndrome, sometimes referred to as a sympathetic pregnancy, the expectant mother’s partner (or in some cases, a very close friend or relative) experiences symptoms that eerily mimic pregnancy.
There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support the idea of a sympathetic pregnancy. “My husband suffers from constipation, bloating, bloating, irritability and nausea just like me,” says one BabyCenter-to-be. And dad Mathew Erickson admits: “During my wife’s pregnancy I gained 15 pounds and I had severe swelling in my hands.”
Although Couvade syndrome is not a recognized disease or mental illness, studies suggest it can be common. Further research is needed to find out what is behind it.
What causes Couvade Syndrome?
If you’re dealing with couvade in your household, we can point out two likely suspects: stress and empathy. According to San Diego gynecologist Norman Duerbeck, stress releases chemicals in the body that can manifest as a sympathetic pregnancy. And let’s face it, with financial worries, health concerns, and good old-fashioned cold feet, pregnancy is often stressful on both sides. Add a little empathy to the mix, and you have a perfect recipe for a sympathetic pregnancy.
Although men don’t talk about it much, these symptoms are not uncommon. In fact, Dürbeck automatically expects Couvade syndrome in certain situations. Couples who have dealt with infertility or miscarriages, for example, are particularly vulnerable.
“A case in point would be that of an empathetic husband who gave his wife hormone injections during conception. If she bled during pregnancy, he could have cramps — a perfect example of Couvade at work,” explains Duerbeck.
When does Couvade syndrome go away?
Fortunately, couvade is almost always transient and not serious. And while there’s no magic pill to get rid of that green feeling around the gills, a little good-natured ripping from a pal might just do the trick. “In many men, the symptoms disappear spontaneously in the face of male peer pressure,” says Duerbeck. Aside from that, they generally disappear after the baby is born, as was the case with Erikson.
A few people, on the other hand, get severe couvade — and it’s more than just a little tiredness or slight swelling. In addition to uncomfortable symptoms, these sufferers experience actual changes in their hormone levels. Again, we can look to the mind-body connection for answers.
Stress can lower testosterone levels in men, causing estrogen levels to become unbalanced and causing pregnancy-like symptoms. Additionally, men with extreme couvade often have excess levels of cortisol — a stress-related chemical that, while effective in the face of short-term danger, is annoying over the long term.
“Too much cortisol in the long term can lead to increased prolactin, which can lead to physical symptoms such as breast enlargement,” says Dürbeck. In these severe cases, psychiatric treatment to reduce anxiety can help.
How do you know if he’s passing the time?
If you ranting about your day to your partner makes you feel like you are chewing the ears off them, then it’s a very tell tale sign of a time pass relationship. Because when true love brews in hearts, you would be more than happy to be a part of every day of your significant other’s existence.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
But not everyone is lucky enough to enjoy the bliss of true love in their lives. As we grow up and rush into relationships overwhelmed by the fear of being alone, we discover trauma and heartbreak in the name of love. Since a pastime relationship can be our love’s worst mistake, knowing if your current relationship is worth all the effort is imperative. Here are the 10 biggest signs you’re trapped in a pastime relationship and need to break out of it ASAP!
#1 Your partner is the busy bee
via GIPHY
How many times have you heard people complain about a lack of time together in relationships? While not every one of these ailments stems from a lack of genuine affection in the relationship, in some cases the apathy is evident. Someone who truly loves you will make an effort to spend time with you when the tide is not favorable. Because as the saying goes: You are never really busy with someone who is important enough to you.
#2 You feel like you are bothering Bae unnecessarily
via GIPHY
When you scold your partner about your day, you feel like you’re biting their ears off, that’s a very telltale sign of a relationship that’s passing time. Because when true love is simmering in hearts, you would be more than happy to be a part of your significant other’s existence every day. But if it’s a compulsory mechanism rather than an avid session of sharing, you should be able to see the clear writing on the wall.
#3 You all compromise
via GIPHY
While relationships shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all of life, it’s inevitable that sometimes you should compromise in order to maintain the bond. Since no two people share exactly the same ideologies, it’s obvious that sometimes you need to find a middle ground to come full circle in your relationship. But if you’re the only one willing to retrace your steps while your partner continues to nonchalantly go about their own business, that’s a very clear sign that it’s just a pastime relationship for them.
#4 You are only remembered for what you got, not who you are
via GIPHY
Communication is the key to any relationship. A little reminder of your importance in someone else’s life through a simple message or the briefest phone call can go a long way to brightening your day. But if that reminder is just out of a need (of whatever intensity), you’re probably just a way of fulfilling someone’s desires and not necessarily the desire of their life. While this doesn’t have to sound downright reassuring, you need to look to proverbs that suggest this may not be a very serious life commitment to cherish.
#5 Your family isn’t discussed much
via GIPHY
A true relationship that each partner wants to maintain for life requires family involvement, at least to some degree. After all, parental consent and friendly acquaintances only help to make your relationship more secure and stronger. It lets you discover more of the person you want to spend your life with, and it also lets you know how much they treat your priorities as their own. If you’re in a pastime relationship, you’re most likely missing all those doses of sweet togetherness.
#6 You don’t have access to bae’s extended life
via GIPHY
And it’s not just meetings with your side of relatives and friends that go unattended. If the relationship is a very casual affair for the person you consider your soulmate, you will also be cut off from interactions with their immediate friends and loved ones. Because introducing yourself to other people who are important in their lives will be an indication of something serious, which is not a consideration for bae.
#7 You sometimes feel like you don’t really know your significant other
via GIPHY
Real relationships are ones where you can be completely yourself. There is little room for secrecy when developing a romantic relationship with someone. But if your would-be significant other is constantly reluctant to share large parts of themselves to the extent that you literally have no idea about them, it’s best to know what this relationship has in store for you. This is definitely a temporary relationship, or worse – no relationship at all!
#8 You aren’t the only one your partner dates
via GIPHY
There’s no point in being in a relationship if you still want to see other people, even if it’s just for the sake of it. At least if it’s a serious relationship, there’s no room for anyone else, no matter how hard times get. But once things start to go haywire in a pastime relationship, people start looking for other, more perfect versions of their partner.
Whether it’s rekindling the flames with their ex or hitting up online dating sites, casual “getaways” are the way to rewind for people in pastime relationships.
#9 You feel obsessed, not loved
via GIPHY
It might sound cliche to say that looks don’t matter in love. However, this is indeed true when the relationship encourages only emotions and not superficiality. But someone who considers you a trophy partner and just wants to bask in the glory of “owning” is certainly not with you for love. It’s your looks and your attractiveness that attract you in a relationship that’s just for the pastime.
#10 Your sixth sense constantly nags you about the wrong things in love
via GIPHY
Beyond any signs that identify you as being in a pastime relationship, the most important thing that can give you a clearer view of reality is your own conscience. In most cases, you can tell when someone doesn’t treat you right or doesn’t give you the respect and appreciation that you deserve. Since your sixth sense is generally more alert than you would realize, if you sense that there is a wrong air in your relationship, you should immediately eliminate it or let go of the relationship that doesn’t allow you to live with dignity.

love and relationships
According to Sternberg’s love triangle theory, we can roughly divide love and relationships into the three components of intimacy, passion, and attachment (1). Let’s delve deeper and examine how these factors affect a man’s love for a woman.
Intimacy: Intimacy between a man and a woman creates a strong sense of connection and deep love.
Feeling of closeness: We all crave intimacy and appreciate the feeling of closeness. Everyone wants someone with whom we can share most of our thoughts, emotions, and feelings as we navigate life’s uncertainties. Understanding, trust and transparency between man and woman develop intimacy. Connection: Sharing common interests and hobbies helps you build a relationship that makes life more meaningful and interesting. Feeling Loved: The sense of fulfillment and happiness we experience when someone genuinely loves and appreciates us is inexplicable. It creates a deep intimacy between the partners.
Passion: Attraction, whether physical or emotional, depends on multiple factors, such as gender, age, sex drive, and individual preferences.
Physical Attraction: It is speculated that men tend to place physical attraction as a higher priority for falling in love. This is driven by both an evolutionary and a cultural bias to find the best mate. Romantic Attraction: We develop a romantic attraction or attachment to a specific person in order to focus our attention and energy on attracting them for a successful mating. It is instrumental in developing exclusivity and commitment in a relationship. Sexual Compatibility: Physical attraction doesn’t always translate to sexual compatibility. It depends on sex drive, desire and emotional compatibility.
Commitment: It is a conscious decision to stay in the relationship. It can be short-term or long-term, depending on various factors such as common goals and core values.
The next section lists some qualities that make a man fall in love with a woman. Take a look!
Qualities that make a man fall deeply in love with a woman
1. Authenticity
This is an attractive trait that helps build strong, long-term relationships. Honesty, trust and transparency are the cornerstones of a successful partnership. Mutual respect for differences is critical to developing a strong bond.
2. Support
Regardless of gender roles, we must support our partners in all our endeavors. Traditionally, men have been discouraged from showing emotion and face strong social pressures to be wealthy and financially secure. Therefore, it is important that they have someone who understands and supports their dreams and goals.
3. Emotional connection
When a man feels understood, valued, and loved by a woman, there are more chances that he will return those feelings. This is important for a happy and deep relationship. Spending time together can help develop these feelings.
4. Physical attraction
Woodraw Wyatt, a famous postmodern journalist, says: A man falls in love through his eyes, a woman through her ears. A heartwarming and sincere smile is an attractive trait that will attract men. A good sense of clothing also reflects good hygiene and increases your attractiveness. Also, a warm, friendly gesture of getting to know each other is desirable in the early stages.
5. Common Core Values
Intelligence, a sense of humor, compassion, kindness and loyalty are just a few universally appealing traits. Men are deeply attracted to women who have the qualities they value and value. It is necessary to have common ground when it comes to financial decisions, raising children, or social, political and religious beliefs.
6. See A Future Together
Men tend to invest their time, energy, and resources if they want a long-term relationship. So when a man sees a future with a woman, he will surely pursue his feelings.
7. Independence
Spending time together is important, but your partner also has their own life and passions. Find a way to support each other’s goals and prioritize their dreams. This creates a positive self-image and a sense of worth for a healthy relationship. Such couples inspire each other to live a better life.
Love is a mystery, and pinpointing the exact reason you have those feelings for someone isn’t easy. However, this does not mean that you should not even try to decipher the feelings. In this triangle theory of love, Sternberg did just that, dividing love and relationships into three components – intimacy, passion, and attachment. These three elements give a man a strong sense of connectedness, sexual compatibility, and security that makes him fall head over heels in love with you. The support and emotional connection they feel with you also draws them closer together, among other things.

How do I drop hints I want to have a baby?
…
Be Straightforward
- “I want to make a baby.”
- “I really want to have a baby with you soon.”
- “I’m ready to make a family.”
- “I’ve been thinking a lot lately about babies and I just want to know where you’re at.”
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
How to tell your partner you want a baby
You know your partner wants children in the future, but when? You’ve always known you wanted a family, but these days you’ve got baby fever and getting pregnant is all you can think about. But is he ready? How do you bring it up?
Some women (and men) get anxious when they even think about discussing babymaking with their partner. They are afraid that they will pressure their partner or surprise them with a desire that seems to come out of nowhere. You might be nervous that the conversation is going to be awkward or that your partner isn’t ready.
However, it is time to put your worries aside and tell your partner how you are feeling. Here are a few tips that will help you through this conversation.
Be direct
Sometimes it’s just better and easier to be direct. When you have kids, you need to have a lot of tough conversations, so this can be exercise!
You can start by simply asking, “Can I talk to you about something?” He will know to put down his phone or laptop because something serious is about to happen. He will give you full attention and will listen to you.
Then tell them exactly how you feel. It might sound something like this:
“I want to make a baby.”
“I really want to have a baby with you soon.”
“I’m ready to start a family.”
“I’ve been thinking a lot about babies lately and I just want to know where you are.”
Let him know how much it means to you and why you want a baby.
If you’re nervous, telling him might ease your anxiety. You can say:
“Okay, I’m really nervous to talk about this, but…”
“I feel weird bringing this up, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.”
“I know this is coming out of nowhere, but I need to get this out of my head.”
ongoing discussion
The easiest way to address the issue of starting a family is through ongoing conversation. For example, waking up one day and saying, “I want a baby NOW!” might startle him and seem to come out of nowhere.
If you’ve always thought about having a baby but know it will take a year or more, start an open dialogue about it now. As you dig into the topic over time, your partner will have time to think without pressure. You can start the ongoing conversation by making light-hearted remarks about having children.
Alternatively, you can just say, “I know it’s obvious, but I’ve been thinking a lot about babies lately. I’m really looking forward to getting to the point where we’re ready.”
transition to the topic
The great thing about this method is that even though you basically planned the entire conversation, it makes it seem like the topic came up naturally. This is a great way to bring up the topic if you’re shy or nervous about his reaction.
This is an easy method if a friend or family member has recently become pregnant or has given birth. Bring up the topic by mentioning news about the person and start a conversation about it. Slowly steer the conversation to your partner’s feelings about the pregnancy. Start asking him questions about how he generally feels about having children. As the conversation continues, share your desire to try.
The conversation could go something like this:
She: Wow, look at this picture on Facebook. Janet’s belly is getting really big; it must be due soon.
*partner looks at picture*
Her: It must be so exciting for her. Have you ever thought about having children?
*partner replies*
Her: I’ve been thinking a lot lately. I’ve been following Janet’s pregnancy pics on Facebook and I can’t wait to go through this myself, you know? I think we might be willing to try.
Based on his answers, you can discuss both of your feelings about the pregnancy further. It’s important to share how you’re feeling, even if your partner reveals they’re not ready. You should respect his feelings about the subject, but also let him know what you want.
Make subtle comments
Unless you’re in a hurry to have a baby, it might be best to take the idea very slowly. If you see anything related to babies or mothers, don’t hesitate to comment. You’re probably thinking these thoughts in your head anyway, so saying them out loud should be natural.
For example, if you’re walking down the street and you see a baby in a stroller with an unconventional design, say, “When we have a baby, I want a stroller like this.” If you’re watching a news report on TV about a really smart 12- Look at year-olds and say, “You’re so smart, I think when we have a baby, it’s going to be a super genius like her.”
Bringing up the topic in this way is great for many reasons. It’s a non-pressive way of getting your point across. If the situation allows, you can even joke about it. It can be a good way to gauge how your partner feels about the topic without asking them directly.
You can also comment on the topic by picking up the discussion on the good old baby names. For example, if you’re watching TV and a character has a cool name, you could say, “I really like that name. If we have a daughter this might be a good name for her. What do you think?”
When to have the baby talk
If you decide to bring up the topic with your partner, make sure it’s the right time. Discuss your desires when you both have time to talk and are in a good mood. Don’t bring it up if your partner goes to work or has just come home from work. If you know he’s having a bad week, try to hold back. Worst time to mention it would be during a fight when you’re going all out.
It may be best to bring it up after you’ve had a nice date and feel connected, or at the weekend when you both have free time. If you’re nervous about the conversation or feel like it might be awkward, try talking to him while you’re out for a walk or hike. While you’re talking, doing physical activity can be a good way to relieve your anxiety.
What if he’s not ready?
If he’s not ready, respect his feelings and don’t push him. Put yourself in his shoes: imagine him pushing you when you weren’t ready to have a baby.
You should never have to pressure anyone into making a big decision like starting a family. Even if you are anxious, it is important that he wants it too.
Instead, ask him what concerns he has about having children. Starting a family is a big decision that can come with many concerns: finances, lifestyle changes, and just the fear of being responsible for someone else. Acknowledge his concerns and, if you can, try to reassure him in an understanding tone.
If you want to set a schedule, ask him what would make him feel ready or what his life would be like when he is ready. Maybe he wants to go back to school, buy a house, or achieve a financial goal.
If his schedule is too vague and your biological clock is counting down, you can gently remind him by saying something like, “Okay, I respect that. It’s just that I’m in my 30s and want to make sure we can have a baby while the odds are high. Can you think about it and we can revisit this discussion in a few months?”
Alternatively, he may say he wants kids now, but is still nervous about the idea. If that’s the case, you can come up with suggestions that take the pressure off. For example, you could say, “We don’t have to try to conceive and plan it. What if I just go off birth control and let it happen naturally or not. If it’s meant to happen, it will happen.”
How to cool baby fever
If your partner isn’t ready to have a baby, you may find it difficult to deal with your intense desire to conceive. Instead of pressuring your partner, use this time to further strengthen your relationship or marriage. After having a baby, you won’t have much time for yourself, so cherish that time now.
You can also offer to babysit for a friend or family member. Not only does this help you fulfill your desire to have children, but being close to children also gives your partner the confidence they need to be ready.

Dating a man with a baby mom
He has to respect both parties: the man will always be in the middle of this urban struggle, but only if he doesn’t stand up and be the man he should be. He has to be honest on both sides. He has to respect both sides. He must be open with both parties. He also needs to make sure both parties know and understand that the most important thing in all of this is the child.
The man will always be in the middle of this urban struggle, but only if he doesn’t stand up and be the man he’s supposed to be. He has to be honest on both sides. He has to respect both sides. He must be open with both parties. He also needs to make sure both parties know and understand that the most important thing in all of this is the child. He must sever sexual ties with baby-mama: The most common mistake a man involved in baby-mama drama makes is to simply not break sexual ties with the woman who gave birth to his child can cancel. The persistence of this type of relationship sets in motion a chain of events that could easily have been avoided. Easier said than done, I know. But it has to happen so that the child grows up in a stable environment, even if mom and dad are no longer together. The man must exercise restraint and have some dignity. If he really appreciates and cares about making a new relationship work, he can’t keep being with his baby mom.
The most common mistake a man makes when dealing with baby mom drama is that he just can’t sever sexual ties with the woman who gave birth to his child. He must focus on the welfare of his child: as I said before, the man has all the cards in his hand. The women involved can only play with the hand he deals to them. He must make it clear to the woman he is involved with that the relationship with his baby mom is strictly for the good of his child.
Like I said, the man holds all the cards. The women involved can only play with the hand he deals to them. He must make it clear to the woman he is involved with that the relationship with his baby mom is strictly for the good of his child. He needs to communicate with you: He also needs to make sure that the woman he is with is kept informed of any activity, meeting, conversation or other direct contact he may have with the mother of his child. I know this may sound extreme, but getting them involved and letting them know what’s going on reduces the likelihood of suspicion and uncertainty on their part. You may be surprised how important open communication is about this type of thing. If the man can set clear boundaries and communicate openly with his new girlfriend, a lot of baby-mom drama will pass.
He has to be honest
He must do the same with the child’s mother. Even if this is not so easy, it depends on the approach. She might not want another woman around her child that she doesn’t know – plain and simple. That will be her first argument, but that’s not all.
This is a very delicate situation as they may not have parted on the best of terms. As such, she may need to be wary of anything and everyone her ex is involved with (including who they are dating). This can complicate things, but he still needs to let her know what’s going on. He has to explain to her that he has another woman in his life, which maybe is something she really doesn’t want to hear. But he still needs to let her know, because if she finds out her child was around someone she doesn’t know, god forbid what would happen next. Therefore, he should tread quietly and watch his approach. He has to tell her that he is interested in someone else.
Wait a minute – but he has to be fast. He should also tell her what this woman means to him. She can give him the eye (and believe me, all men know the “eye”). But he still needs to let her know (but only if he means it) so she knows he respects this woman and cares enough about her to tell her about her. She will respect that. I’m not saying she’ll like it, but she’ll respect it.
Why do boys always go back to their baby mama?
Some men feel a strong connection to their baby mom. They have a special connection that they had a child with this woman. If your husband is having trouble breaking away from his baby mama, you need to let him go. Set some boundaries as to what type of behavior is acceptable, and when your man crosses the line, take a tough stance. At the same time, you need to find that balance and understand that your man will always have a special bond with his baby mom.
Here are some reasons why a man goes back to his baby mama through you. Remember these reasons are not your fault! The man is the protagonist in this drama and his decisions affect both sides.
He does it for the child: A good father wants to be there for his children, so your husband may try to come back with his baby mom so his child can have a more stable home environment. He feels an obligation to provide a warm and positive environment for his child, which is difficult when the mother and father are separated.

He feels an obligation to provide a warm and positive environment for his child, which is difficult when the mother and father are separated. He Feels Guilty: Your husband may feel that he has left his family. This is especially true if he had multiple children with another woman. He may feel like he didn’t give his ex a chance to redeem themselves in the relationship.
Your husband may feel like he left his family. This is especially true if he had multiple children with another woman. He may feel like he didn’t give his ex a chance to redeem himself in the relationship. He Still Loves His Ex: Yes, that totally can happen. Her husband may have had valid reasons for breaking up with his baby mom, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely over her. Most likely, he had strong feelings for her at some point, and it’s hard to get over that and start a new relationship, especially when young children are involved.
Signs of a jealous baby mom
Even if you take steps to keep baby momma in the know and comfortable about dating her ex, she can still be jealous of you and your relationship. Here are some signs that she is jealous of you.
She has no boundaries: If she shows up at your house unannounced when you’re with your husband or starts seeing you in public, it’s a sign that she’s not respecting the established boundaries of your relationship. She’s jealous of you, so she wants to mess up your life.

She’s jealous of you, so she wants to mess up your life. She is curious: under the guise of friendliness, she always asks you what you and your husband are up to. She can even get way too personal with her questions and start asking you things that you’re uncomfortable with.

She says negative things about you to others: Instead of speaking directly to you, she goes behind your back and tries to turn your husband and others against you. She focuses on negative things or just makes things up to make you look bad in front of her kids.

How to build trust in a man with children
Well, the day I met my now-fiancé, I could tell he was having baby mom drama. I had no feelings for him at the time. All I knew was that the first thing I crossed off my “I need a man list” was: no baby mommies! This man had a couple of children. Long story short, he made me go oooh-wee and things changed for both of us. I found that this man was no ordinary man and I will explain what I mean by that.
Ladies, this man would call his baby mamas with me right next to him. He would put these women on the hands-free. He did this so I could hear what his relationship with them was. He didn’t do that once. This man did that every time they called his phone. Just by his doing that, it created trust and confidence in my relationship with this man.
My advice to women dealing with men with children
There are rules and boundaries that you must not cross when dealing with a man who has a child with another woman. Remember that if you really intend to have a life with this man, you must respect the mother of his child. She may not like you, but as long as you show her the respect of being the mother of his child, her hatred of you will prove worthless. How can you hate someone who respects you?
This advice, which I am about to give, will be difficult for some to grasp. Those of strong will and cool head will receive this advice as is. When it comes to your husband negotiating with the mother of his child on matters affecting her child, it is in your best interest to stay out of it. Your relationship is with him, not baby mama. You and your husband can discuss the issues that affect both the baby mom and the child, but he must resolve his issues with both alone.
If you find out he’s still having sex with the baby mama, unless you share your husband, you must let him go immediately. I hate to tell you this, but once you find out your husband slept with his baby mama while the two of you were together, it won’t stop. Those bonds have yet to be severed, and they won’t until one of them is ready. There’s nothing you can do to make them stop. One of them has to say enough is enough.
Some men feel that once a woman gives birth to his child, she is his forever.
Dealing with the baby mom drama
Here are five tips for dealing with the baby-mom drama. Always try to have some patience and compassion as it is not an easy situation for the man.
Do guys get sleepy when their girl is pregnant?
These hormonal changes were associated with the display of paternal behaviours as well as Couvade symptoms of fatigue, appetite changes and weight gain. So a plethora of different theories have offered accounts for the origins of the syndrome.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
Harry Ashby, the 29-year-old security guard who was fired from work while his girlfriend was pregnant with morning sickness, cravings, a growing belly and growing breasts, has been told he has Couvade syndrome. Couvade is an involuntary manifestation of pregnancy in men with a partner who is expecting a baby — sometimes referred to as a “sympathetic pregnancy.” It is not a medically recognized physical or mental disorder and is not explained by injury or illness.
A number of “pregnancy-related” physical and psychological symptoms include abdominal pain and bloating, back pain, pseudocyesis (euphemistically known as “phantom pregnancy”), lethargy, morning sickness, toothache, cravings, and aversion – many of which were confirmed by a study we did at St .George’s Hospital, London. Prominent psychological symptoms include prenatal depression and mood swings, early morning awakening, anxiety, poor concentration, distraction and memory loss.

Taken together, these symptoms may indicate empathic identification with a pregnant partner and the man’s unborn child, but they could also be a dissolution of unconscious thoughts that could be threatening to both.
Couvade symptoms follow a chronological pattern, beginning in the first trimester of pregnancy before temporarily disappearing in the second trimester and then reappearing in the last trimester. They can even extend into the postpartum period.
While the syndrome occurs primarily in developed countries around the world, the number of new cases in these countries varies. Several studies have found an incidence of 25-52% of all men with a pregnant partner in the US; 20% in Sweden and an estimated 61% in Thailand, although this includes mild to extreme symptoms such as the physical ones above. Incidence in the UK is unknown but estimates from the 1970s range from 11% to 50%.

A number of theories that have been proposed to explain Couvade syndrome. In addition to psychoanalytical and psychosocial explanations, they also include the emotional attachment to the unborn child and the partner as well as hormonal influences.
psychoanalysis
Psychoanalytic theory assumes that the syndrome develops from the man’s envy of the woman’s ability to reproduce. The theory also proposes that for the male partner, pregnancy acts as a catalyst for the emergence of ambivalence and the resurgence of oedipal conflicts. The event can induce regression—the man’s withdrawal to childhood feelings and conflicts triggered by his partner’s pregnancy, such as rejection, exclusion, ambivalence, and fear—with a sense of passivity and dependency that is reinforced by the developing fetus and man’s need for autonomy collides.
advertisement
A second psychoanalytic theory holds that fathers-to-be sometimes see the unborn child as a rival for maternal attention. Some have explained this as the expectant father’s interpretation of the unborn child as a rival from whom attention is diverted. But this expresses itself through a more socially acceptable outlet like the syndrome. This interpretation suggests that the syndrome has a protective function for the man because it enables him to identify with his pregnant partner and strengthens his protective instincts towards her and the baby.
psychosocial
Psychosocial theory, which takes into account social circumstances, instead focuses on a marginalization of men during the woman’s pregnancy and childbirth, especially in men who have their first child. While motherhood is an important defining feature of women, this may not be the case for fatherhood and men; In contrast to the careers of fathers-to-be, pregnant women are supported economically, socially and medically in their maternity careers. Since the 1970s, men have become familiar figures in the delivery room, and their presence is now almost mandatory.
advertisement
The fact that men cannot directly give birth or experience delivery can relegate men to a secondary role in which they feel marginalized and sometimes useless. To resolve this subordinate status during pregnancy and childbirth, the man inadvertently draws the woman’s attention by displaying Couvade syndrome. However, this implies that the syndrome is a conscious entity, which I and others like Arthur Klein dismiss.
transition and crisis
The paternal transition theory proposes that the transition to fatherhood is potentially pathological and involves disruptive interpersonal struggles that are highly stressful.
According to Klein, the transition from the dyad — two connected entities like man and woman — to a triad — a group of three — is one of the most catastrophic periods for the expectant man. This can be compounded by the fact that men typically accept pregnancy but without accompanying physical changes that reinforce their reality. They lack the biological markers of the transition to parenthood and these “disembodied” pregnancy experiences are very different from the woman’s experiences. This in turn leads to multiple conflicts during the transition, including jealousy and rivalry with the unborn child, increased ambivalence towards one’s parents, and sexual conflicts. Given all of this, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some psychological fallout.
Appendix
But paradoxically, men who have been prepared for their parenting role – for example childbirth classes – show a higher susceptibility to the syndrome. Attachment theory posits that the closeness of the man to the fetus produces the syndrome. In a landmark study published in 1983, a sample of white, middle-class men who became pregnant for the first time found a modest correlation between greater paternal and fetal involvement and attachment (the feeling and hearing of the unborn child being kicked , confirmed by the woman’s pregnancy symptoms and the ultrasound examination) with the appearance of six physical symptoms of the syndrome. These included fatigue (34%), trouble sleeping (33%), indigestion (14%), stomach upset (12%), changes in appetite (8%) and constipation (6%). Investigators concluded that the men’s symptoms reflect their attachment to the unborn child and their involvement in the pregnancy.
Attack of hormones
Couvade syndrome also appears to show a relationship with hormones, but there is a paucity of research examining such an association. To date, only two studies have supported a hormonal basis for the syndrome, one published in 2000 and another in 2001. The results of both showed a significant increase in the hormone levels of prolactin and estrogen in men in the first and third trimesters of pregnancy. but lower levels of testosterone and the stress hormone cortisol. These hormonal changes were associated with displays of paternal behavior as well as Couvade’s symptoms of fatigue, changes in appetite, and weight gain.

A plethora of different theories have thus provided explanations for the origins of the syndrome. However, some of these, such as the hormonal explanation, have not yet been adequately studied. And those who have psychosocial reasons, for example, show significantly different findings, weakening a definitive conclusion that the syndrome is rooted therein. Suggested directions for future research in this area could focus more on hormonal associations with the syndrome.

16 Signs He’s Seeing Someone Else
Phone calls, texts or even those cute selfies will never end up on your phone again. Regardless of your relationship status (dating or married), he may be seeing someone else when he runs out of time for you. You may notice a decrease in the times he talks to you and the frequency with which he reaches out to you. Going on dates yourself is now a rare opportunity. This is a sign that he may be talking to another girl.
2. He doesn’t want you to meet his friends
Friends are usually the first point of contact you have with your husband. If he’s too hesitant to let you meet up with his friends, it could be a sign that he’s talking to another girl or maybe he even has a girlfriend.
Friends are usually an excellent litmus test for getting to know a man, and if you’ve been dating for a while (or hope to be), he should take you to his friends. It is a sign that he is letting you into his life. If he’s reluctant to do so, it may be because he’s unsure about you or because he wants to keep his options open.
3. He spends too much time on his phone
Has your husband started carrying his phone around a little too protectively? Did he change his social media password? Is he sneaky with the calls he receives at odd hours? Does he regularly check his phone while on a date with you? Or maybe he texts and texts all the time when his attention should be solely on you.
You can explain it as work commitments or other things that in some cases he has no control over. But if this behavior is consistent and there’s no apparent reason for it, it may be because he’s engaging with other women while he’s still in a relationship with you.
4. He has new grooming routines
This is one of the telltale signs that your partner is actively looking for another woman. Have you noticed any changes in his grooming routine? For example, he might have started a gym membership (when he used to hate exercising) or paid attention to his looks.
Everyone likes to change something. However, if your partner has suddenly turned their entire bathroom shelf upside down or started focusing heavily on their appearance for no reason, it could be a cause for concern. If this is not the case, then you should watch carefully for other such signs.
5. He doesn’t want to talk about the future
If you’ve been together for a while, the future can be a big talking point. However, if he doesn’t want to talk about the future and is unsure for no apparent reason, it could be a cause for concern. Even talking about your plans for next week is getting to be too much for him and he might complain that you’re thinking too much.
He may change subjects, deflect discussions about the future, or ignore any attempts at such conversations. Such avoidance is noticeable, especially if it has been open in the past but closed recently. This can be a big sign that he is interested in someone else and doesn’t like you that much anymore.
6. He checks out other women
Whether you’ve just started dating or have been in a relationship for a long time, this is one of the most obvious red flags to look out for. One obvious sign that a man is no longer interested in you is if he lets his eyes wander even when he’s with you.
Watching waitresses leave, unabashedly turning his head to look at women who walk past him, and not hesitating to stare down at other women are all signs of his disrespect for you and the relationship. Although some may dismiss this as a case of human tendencies, if this occurs consistently it may be a sign that he is wandering.
7. There is a “best friend”
Everyone has seen her and felt the same way you feel about her. She’s a little too close to your partner and he claims nothing is going on and it’s a pure bond of friendship. You want to believe it too, but should you?
If there is an increased closeness (both physical and mental) between the two for no demonstrable reason, you should consider investigating. They spend too much time together, so he often rejects you, doesn’t give you time and always talks about her. This is a powerful indicator that your partner may be rambling and someone else may be closer than you think.
8. He doesn’t call you his significant other
Gone are the days of “darling”, “sweetheart” or “beautiful”. Now you’re lucky if he doesn’t even call you by your name anymore. When he’s not referring to you as his significant other or someone he’s romantically attached to, chances are another beautiful lady will end his attention.
Worse, it could be a sign that he already has a girlfriend. On several forums, such as Reddit and Discord, women have mentioned that not referring to you as their significant other is a red flag, especially around family and friends. He wants to distance himself from your relationship and subconsciously reminds himself that you are not the only woman in his life. Make sure you look out for such behavior.
9. He doesn’t have time for you
Wanting to spend time with your partner is one of the most natural things you could wish for. However, he doesn’t seem to feel that way anymore and doesn’t want to be involved with you emotionally or physically anymore.
Appointments are cancelled, video calls are dropped halfway due to “bad network” and work has become so heavy that he doesn’t even have time for a goodnight text. It can be an obvious indicator of his infidelity, or at least a sign that he is attracted to other women.
10. He is overly defensive
They say it’s not a situation that defines you, but how you react to it. There are few clearer signs that he’s seeing someone else than a man getting too defensive. Does completely innocent questions make him boil? Does he yell when you ask him something? Does he accuse you of being unfaithful when you question him? If so, you might want to take a deeper look into his life.
He may be projecting his adulterous tendencies onto you and turning to you because he feels threatened or cornered. In short, when he’s overly defensive, it’s often a clear sign he’s hiding something big. Alternatively, he may shut down altogether and refuse to talk about anything unrelated to you.
11. He compares you to others
Don’t you love it when your partner sees the stars in your eyes and treats you like the only woman in the world? But if you notice that you are no longer the case, it may be a sign that he is attracted to someone else and you are now holding on to their standards.
He criticizes the way you look, acts strange, and may try to repel you emotionally. He also holds you to an unrealistic standard that didn’t seem to exist before.
12. His mood swings are through the roof
One of the main reasons a person experiences mood swings is because of stress, lack of sleep or nutrition, burnout, or just plain exhaustion. If your partner has been experiencing this lately, chances are he’s what he appears to be: a man in need of a good night’s sleep.
However, if everything in his life seems normal and he’s still very moody, it could be a sign that he’s interested in other women and doesn’t want to be with you anymore. Your partner may feel shame, anger, and guilt internally, which manifests in negative feelings and behavior. He may even feel anxious because he is constantly afraid of getting caught. This is especially true if you have been in a committed relationship.
13. His stories don’t add up
Was it a work meeting that kept him away last week? Or was it a weekend night out with his friends? Every time you ask him you will get a different answer. If so, this is a sign that he is hiding something (probably an affair).
This phenomenon is called cognitive dissonance. It’s a situation where the brain struggles to align two different trains of thought. As a result, the person keeps changing the narrative, leading to half-baked lies.
14. You fight more often
When he’s with someone else, he might feel trapped with you. In such a case, he may begin to quarrel over trifles.
Forgot to wash the dishes? Didn’t you answer his call fast enough? These things, which ideally shouldn’t even be discussed in the first place, can become significant issues. You can drain yourself emotionally and mentally if you fight with him over minor issues like this. He may do this to take his frustration out on you or to try to shift the blame away from him.
15. You might get showered with gifts
Has he become overly loving and caring for no apparent reason? Has he started showering you with gifts? He may feel guilty about being unfaithful to you and make up for it with gifts and affection.
Though he still won’t have time for you, he will make up for it by being extravagantly generous when you meet. Your wishes are his command and he will stop at nothing to get you what you want as long as it doesn’t interfere with his infidelity.
16. He will avoid certain places
No matter how secretive people try to hide things, someone will definitely notice. This can be a mutual friend, a relative or an acquaintance. Regardless, there are always people who might see your partner with someone who wasn’t you.
In such a case, the most natural defense is to avoid any place where people have seen him with another woman. He can now avoid your favorite bars, restaurants, parks and clubs like the plague and instead find new, off-the-beaten-track places for the two of you to go. A change in selection is acceptable, even expected, but too many rapid changes is something to watch out for.
If you’ve distanced yourself from your partner or someone you like and are wondering if they’re dating someone else, paying attention to the signs above can be a step in the right direction. For example, if he doesn’t contact you as often as he used to, spends too much time on the phone with you, doesn’t want to talk about the future, or argues a lot, he wants out. In addition, a change in his grooming routine, an overly defensive attitude, or a desire not to meet your friends also indicate that he is dating someone else.
KEY FINDINGS There are certain signs that the man you love might be dating someone else.
A common sign might be that he’s not spending as much time with you as he used to or not listening to you.
Another common sign is that he’s not ready to fully commit to you.
Although these signs could mean he’s dating someone else, they’re not set in stone.

Why does my boyfriend make pregnancy jokes?
Sometimes my boyfriend jokes with me that he’s trying to get me pregnant or his “attempt” failed after the last time we had sex. Sometimes he even rubs my tummy and asks if his baby is inside. I usually joke with him about it, but last time I got serious and said I don’t want a baby right now. He said I was too serious and he said it was just a joke. Girl: Your thoughts? Has your boyfriend ever made such jokes with you? How did you react?
Again, for the record, I don’t think my boyfriend will try anything and I trust him, I’m just curious about other people’s opinions.
What does it mean when a guy says your gonna wind up pregnant? Does that mean he wants to get me pregnant? He also has told me he’s gonna…
Something went wrong. Wait a moment and try again.
