I wanted to put up a sign to stop junk mail, but I found all the ones I found online to be ugly, unclear, or advertised something else.
When I visited Montréal, I noticed that many homes had a wonderful little piece of design to indicate they didn’t want flyers. Taking this design as inspiration, I designed my own sign.
And just like my storyboard templates, there’s no text or annoying credits. It’s just a sign conveying a simple message. No fluff.

If you’re printing fancy pants with a color laser printer, then print out the color version. For mere mortals, print out the b/w version with normal laser printers and color in the circle and cross with a colored pencil or felt-tip pen. Forget inkjet printing: it quickly fades in the sun and smudges if even slightly wet.
You can print on sticker stock or just use regular paper and tape. If your mailbox gets a lot of rain, cover the entire surface with clear packing tape.
How big to print? The sign should be legible from the curb. The default size is quite large (about a quarter of 8.5 x 11, or A4), so I scaled it down to 70% when printing.
