What is a pop of color?

Noun. color pop (plural color pops) A digital effect in which part of an image is shown in color, the rest of the image being in grey or a dull monochrome.

How do you add a pop of color to an outfit?

The simplest and no-fail way to add a pop of color is to start with a monochromatic outfit (all one color or a black and white). An all black ensemble is probably the easiest to work with, but any neutral outfit will look awesome when paired with most colors.

What is it called when you wear all of one color?

The word “monochromatic” breaks down into two pieces: “mono” meaning single and “chromatic” meaning color. So a monochromatic outfit would consist of pieces of one color. This doesn’t mean that you would only wear solid black or solid red from head to toe.

What color pops the most?

Red is the color of power. It gets people’s attention and it holds it, which is why it’s the most popular color for marketing.

How to add a pop of colour to your outfits

Sales training teaches us to be aware of what we say, our body language, and the way we sell. One thing we may not think enough about is the effect color has on our sales interactions.

Whether it’s the clothes you wear or the color of your marketing, the colors you choose have an impact on your prospects and customers. For example, if you wore red to a sales meeting, would it make you more likely to get the sale? If your brochure is written in green, what difference could that make when customers or prospects read it?

Here are the top 10 colors influencing your sales interactions:

1. Red

Red is the color of power. It grabs and holds people’s attention, which is why it is the most popular color for marketing. The word SALE is always red, and you’ll often find that red is a common tie color for professionals.

2. Blue

If you want to be seen as trustworthy and cool, blue is the color for you. Blue is a more relaxed color and is slightly softer than black when used for writing text or suit color. Mix blue with complementary colors for best results.

3. Pink

Pink is a strong and bright color that commands attention. A striking color that is effective on both men and women and can show excitement and boldness when used for marketing purposes.

4. Yellow

Yellow is a powerful color, but it’s also the most dangerous shade. Use yellow to grab your audience’s attention and let them know you’re confident in your skills.

5. Green

Green is warm and welcoming, making customers feel comfortable. Secondly, it stands for health, environment and benevolence. After all, green is the color of money, so it creates thoughts of wealth. Maybe a good color to close?

6. Purple

Purple is the color of royalty, which makes it perfect for adding a touch of elegance and prestige to your marketing materials. If you want to show off any form of authority or seniority, purple is a great color choice.

7. Gold

Gold is also elegant and prestigious, but adds a powerful element that purple cannot match. When paired with purple or green, gold is a powerful color that symbolizes wealth and heritage.

8. Orange

Orange is energy. It has strong attention-grabbing qualities, it’s fun and cool, and it makes customers feel like they’re dealing with an innovative company.

9. Brown

Brown, an earthy tone, is known as a feel-good color and gives customers relaxation. A gray suit with brown shoes and belt can be a popular combination.

10. Black

Black is another very versatile color. It can be modern or traditional, exciting or relaxing. Used as a contrasting color, black tends to add drama to any mood you want to convey.

Color can seem like a small detail, but psychologists and marketing teams have proven that it’s a very influential part of the buying process. Take the time to think about how you present yourself, what colors you have chosen for different sales situations and what your marketing looks like. Changing color can have a big impact on your sales!

This may be considered “cheating” in some circles, but a colorful bag spices up your look wonderfully! Go for warm colors like yellow, red and orange as these really pop against the black. Bags are often overlooked when styling an outfit, but tote bags can be crucial in bringing your entire outfit together! Personally, I’d pair a bright banana yellow bag with my all-black ensemble to really turn heads—in a good way, of course.

I recently got an email from a reader who wanted to know how to add color to an outfit without channeling the psychedelic 1960s or clown Bozo.

The truth is that many wardrobes are severely lacking in color and it’s such a shame. Wearing color can do amazing things for your skin tone, hair color, and overall appearance. While basic black will forever be a wardrobe staple, adding a few more hues can spice up your wardrobe and add interest to your look.

Colorful clothing is also a hot spring trend, so wearing color is something worth learning how to do. Even if you think you can’t wear light-colored clothes, it’s a lot easier than it seems.

Here are ten easy ways to add some color to your outfits.

Start small and work your way up.

If you don’t usually wear a lot of color, don’t do head first by donning the first five bright pieces you see. If you go this route, chances are you’ll hate your look and swear by color. It’s better to start small with a colorful piece and grow from there.

Trade plain black for another neutral.

I don’t bet on the color black – it’s one of my favorites and makes a chic base for any outfit. However, I don’t believe in using any color as a wardrobe crutch. If you’re wearing black because you can’t think of anything else to wear, you need to find a new neutral shade. I’ve been a fan of navy blue and nude lately, but gray and brown are also perfect options.

Choose colors that suit your skin and hair.

If you haven’t already, use my guide and find out which colors are the most flattering for you. Once you know what looks good on you, it’s 1000 times easier to wear color without fear. Remember: start small. Incorporate one or two of these colors into your wardrobe, get used to them and build on them.

Wear a flashy shoe.

This is one of my favorite ways to wear color lately. I just bought a pair of neon pink ballet flats from Forever 21 and wear them whenever I get the chance. The great thing about bright shoes is that they brighten up even the dullest outfit and always stand out. Red shoes with a little black dress or bright pink pumps with jeans and a top – you can’t go wrong either way.

Add a bright handbag.

Colorful bags are also a hot trend and another easy way to make your outfit more colorful. While black and brown handbags are super popular because they “go with everything”, light-colored ones are just as versatile! The trick to choosing the right colorful bag? Make sure the shade goes well with the rest of your wardrobe. A cobalt blue handbag would be perfect if you carry a lot of cool colors like gray and lavender, while a marigold bag would be a great choice if you usually rock browns and other warm tones.

Wear a multicolored dress.

If you’re completely clueless when it comes to matching colors, find a colorful dress and let her choose your color palette for you. Simply pair your dress with neutral shoes and a matching bag. The dress will be the focal point of your outfit and you don’t have to worry about wrong combinations.

Sports colored jewellery.

If you’ve seen the Oscars, you must have seen Angelina Jolie’s emerald earrings. They were strikingly beautiful against their all-black ensemble. This is an example of professional styling at work. Paired with a neutral outfit, a glowing piece of jewelry can really stand out and be seen. Try it out for yourself by picking a colorful piece – maybe a chunky turquoise bracelet or a bright cocktail ring – and wearing it with a simple top/jeans combo or a little black dress.

A light colored top + denim = love.

I love colorful tops. They’re one of the easiest ways to experiment with color, and they’re pretty cheap as far as clothing goes. In combination with denim, a colorful top has found its perfect complement. Try a pink tank top with white skinny jeans and heels this spring, or a draped yellow top with denim shorts.

Two words: colorful accessories.

Bright accessories rock because they’re cheap and easy to experiment with. A bright red belt over a black dress would look adorable. How about a sky blue scarf paired with your favorite spring neutral jacket? Bright colored tights are also a fun way to liven up your look and they are also very trendy.

Just have fun!

My final tip is to use color to express your personality and add some fun to your look. While it’s nice to dress well, if you’re wearing color, experiment and have fun! Even if they’re not a perfect match, at the end of the day it’s just fashion. We’re not saving lives here. 😉

Well, you’ve seen my tips for more color – now I want to know what you think! Does your love for all things Technicolor rival Rainbow Bright, or are you just a black girl? What colors do you wear the most?

What does it mean to dress monochromatic?

A monochromatic outfit is a look made up of one color or shades of the same color. But don’t worry, it’s anything but boring when done right! This type of outfit challenges you to get creative instead of wearing the same fall back look every day.

What is monochromatic fashion?

What is monochrome style? Monochrome styling is simply wearing an outfit that is a single shade of color. A monochrome outfit may consist of several pieces, separates, layers, textures and slight color variants, but overall, the look is of one intentional color.

Monochrome outfits have had a moment — from Zendaya’s spicy red carpet look to the politicians’ style picks at last year’s inauguration. While these examples are glamorous, it’s safe to assume that many regular folks have worn our own monochromatic outfits while we’re working from home as well. (Did anyone show up to work in a groutfit?)

Make 2022 the year of good decisions. First, sign up for our newsletter to receive twice-weekly tips, reviews and more from our experts.

Instagram influencers also rocked monochromatic styles for most of the year, like Dariadéh founder Madeleine Darya Alizadeh in cozy loungewear; blogger Jules Acree in a summery white fit; and artist Maddy Churm in a monochromatic black jumpsuit. It’s a trend that’s hard to ignore.

What is monochrome style?

Monochrome styling simply means wearing an outfit that is a single shade. A monochromatic outfit can have multiple pieces, separates, layers, textures and slight color variations, but overall the look is one color intended. Effortless yet elegant, these outfits work well for people who like to wear a specific shade or even just jeans and matching patterns.

Why wear monochrome?

On the one hand, the visual appeal of a colorful outfit has an effect. But putting together pieces of clothing in the same shade also makes getting dressed quick and easy. Also, monochromatic styles feature monochromatic items by definition, making each piece a great candidate for mixing and matching with other items in your wardrobe. A few monochromatic styles are must-haves: black leggings, a white tank top, and so on. The bolder you are, the more you can use bright colors or branch out into head-to-toe patterns. Wearing an item often not only lowers the cost per wear of the item, but also increases its personal value to you — a byproduct of something called dopamine dressing, where your clothes can improve your mood.

2. Girlfriend Collective

Girlfriend Collective has grown steadily over the past few years, expanding from just selling leggings to a wider range of clothing styles for bodies of all sizes and genders. The brand is helping to divert plastic water bottles from waterways by turning them into fabrics for their clothing, and they have two color categories for all of their items: essentials (or those offered all the time, while supplies last) and limited, seasonal ones shades . Essential colors include black and navy blue, while limited hues are seasonal and currently include light geranium, ivory, and various tans and browns.

Since Girlfriend Collective’s color options are relatively narrow and consistent from piece to piece, putting together a monochromatic outfit becomes a breeze. And while you’ll find plenty of workout essentials like bras and those famous women’s leggings at Girlfriend Collective, the brand also sells warm-ups, workout dresses and leggings for everyone, with prices ranging from $42 to $98 each. The brand is also size inclusive as all stock is available in women’s sizes XXXS to 6XL.

How to add a pop of colour to your outfits

White clothes are undoubtedly one of my favorites. There is something dramatic and airy about the all-white ensemble, and when it comes to wedding dresses, white is the most popular choice.

What I don’t like about white clothing is that it’s often see-through. White is a tricky color for fabric because the same type of fabric can be super see-through in white and there might be absolutely no problem with other colors. I have worked with many white dresses and am still amazed at how many layers it takes to make a dress that covers everything underneath.

Here I want to share my top 5 tips for wearing under white clothes and especially wedding dresses. Some of the tips are also tailored to light and airy fabrics or specific dress types like an open back – but read the blog post and find out. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask them in the comments. I’ll be happy to answer them!

How to add a pop of colour to your outfits

In the dead of winter, it’s pretty easy to get tired of your wardrobe. Winter is dragging on, it’s cloudy and gray outside, and you’ve been wearing your cold-weather gear for months. But spring is still weeks away, so how do you breathe some life into what you wear every day? With color! And I’m not just talking about adding a dramatic pop of color to your look today – how you combine colors also has a huge impact on the vibrancy, vibrancy and joy you find in your outfits.

A lot of clients I work with already have a good amount of color in their closets, but they’re a bit reluctant to combine colors in new and different ways. So if you’re ready to try some color combos you might not have thought of before, check out 10 color combos that always work and will make you look stylishly cool (and hot!) no matter how dreary the weather is.

What is the 60 30 10 decorating rule?

What is the 60-30-10 Rule? It’s a classic decor rule that helps create a color palette for a space. It states that 60% of the room should be a dominant color, 30% should be the secondary color or texture and the last 10% should be an accent.

Home decor can be an art that leaves us feeling confused, stuck or frustrated! However, there is a very simple and easy way to find a balanced color palette for your space. It’s the 60-30-10 rule!

What is the 60-30-10 rule?

It’s a classic decorating rule that helps create a color palette for a room. It states that 60% of the room should be a dominant color, 30% should be the secondary color or texture, and the last 10% should be an accent.

How to apply the 60-30-10 rule?

The 60% is the overall color of the room, the background color if you will. If you look at the room you will say it is the “grey” room or whatever color you choose.

The next number in this rule is your 30%. It becomes the secondary color in your room, supporting the main color but different enough to add interest to the room. Think of it this way, you use half as much of that color as you do of your main color.

The fun part is your 10%; your accent color. It can be bolder or more subtle depending on the look you want. The 10% can add character to the room or keep it much more neutral, it’s really up to you.

If you haven’t read my post on the 5 secret elements of interior design; A complete guide to getting the space you love using the things you love, then this is what you should do now. Once you read this you will understand how to create balance when mixing styles/tones/textures. As you know, I recommend a neutral color palette that allows you to create a practical and curated space with pieces you love, but you can pick any color you want using the 60-30-10 rule.

How to add a pop of colour to your outfits

We consider many factors when selecting potential dating partners, and with dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge, first impressions are crucial.

One of those impressions comes in the form of eye color. Eyes are said to be the windows to the soul and a connection, when you make eye contact, can be the spark that leads to a long romance.

“Oxytocin can also be released from staring into someone else’s eyes, which helps us connect with others and feel loved and safe,” says Ness Cooper, a sex and relationship coach at www.thesexconsultant.com.

But what are the most attractive eye colors? Lenstore researched these major dating apps to find out which eyes draw the most attention from potential partners.

A male and a female subject were used in multiple sample images provided by each person to create their online dating profile. Their eye colors were then modified between tests in image editing software to see how many “matches” they could get with the same images and bios in the apps.

Blue is the most attractive eye color in men

For men, blue eyes stood out as the clear winner, with overall eye color matches accounting for 27% of all results – while the second most popular version of the images, brown, scored just 22%.

Looking deeper into the psychology behind eye color, Ness Cooper says, “If you prefer blue eyes, for example, it may be because you had nothing but good past experiences as a child, where happier feelings and positive hormones were released, because you felt safe with that person, and your memory can remember those moments when you were looking for a future partner or date.

The least popular eye color was purple, a color not possible in natural eyes and only achieved by wearing colored contact lenses, accounting for only 8% of all matches.

Eye Color Overall Matches with Males – % Blue 47 27.17% Brown 38 21.97% Green 29 16.76% Hazel 26 15.03% Black 19 10.98% Purple 14 8.09% Total 173 100%

Hazel is the most attractive eye color in women

For women, the results were slightly less pronounced. While hazel was the most popular eye color to get a like, it beat purple eyes — which of course you can’t — by just a single match.

Only green eyes seemed to suffer at all, with only 11% of matches being achieved. Blue and brown, the most popular among men, tended towards the bottom middle of the list, with brown eyes – the most common in the world – receiving only 13% of all matches.

Eye Color Overall Matches with Females – % Hazel 65 20.19% Purple 64 19.88% Black 57 17.70% Blue 56 17.39% Brown 43 13.35% Green 37 11.49% Total 322 100%

The psychology behind eye color and prevalence around the world

It is clear that our preference for eye color in partners has psychological reasons. Speaking to Ness Cooper, she says: “Some previous studies have shown that we are attracted to people with similar physical characteristics to our parents or even ourselves. This may include preferring a similar eye color.”

“While research on this is still limited, it may be that we like similar eye colors to the caregivers we had when we were younger because of the bond created by hormonal releases when we’re little, rather than a direct connection.” to genetic family and eye preference.”

The most common eye color in the world, covering between 55 and 79 percent of people, is brown, while green is the rarest at just 2 percent. Blue is second most common at 8-10%, with hazel (a combination of brown and green) at 5% and amber (closer to orange or gold) at 5%.

Dark brown eyes tend to be more common in Africa and East and Southeast Asia, while light brown eyes are most common in West Asia, America, and Europe.

Blue eyes are more common in Europe and are due to a genetic mutation that causes the eye to produce less melanin – all blue-eyed people share a common ancestor from around 10,000 years ago.

Green eyes are primarily found in Europe, with 16 percent of green-eyed people being of Celtic or Germanic descent.

Hazel eyes can be found all over the world, especially in Europe and the United States.

What eye color are you most compatible with?

If you want to experiment with different eye colors, take a look at our range of colored contact lenses. With a wide range of colors to either enhance or completely change your natural eye color, you’re sure to find the perfect shades for you.

methodology

The experiment was conducted from September 16 to 22, 2021 with two subjects. Their eye colors were digitally modified, while their names, biographies and all other aspects of their photos remained the same between tests. Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge were all used, with the final count being the total number of games played across all three.

How to style: A Pop of Color

Adding a pop of color can breathe a lot of life into a look, but the question I get most often as a stylist is WHEN to add that pop of color. My answer is “if you’re in a fun and lively mood”. My answer is usually never based on an outfit, but more on whether the wearer is willing to stand out. That’s exactly what a pop of color does—it’s a way to add a real eye-catching piece to your look that will draw attention. However, there are definitely outfits that work better than others with an added pop. Below are some ideas for when and how to add that pop!

1. The easiest and safest way to add a pop of color is to start with a monochromatic outfit (all one color or black and white). An all-black ensemble is probably the easiest to pull off, but any neutral outfit will look amazing when paired with most colors.

2. When an outfit has no more than 2 colors and one or both are a neutral color. This is how I styled my look today. Starting with a black canvas I added a neutral camel color and then a nice drop of wine. The key to adding the right accent is getting all the colors to match and look beautiful together.

3. If adding a pop of color to an outfit that includes a print, choose a color that is included in the print. Depending on how busy the pattern is, I usually like to add the least used color as a pop.

4. Everything that is worn should fit really well, but this is especially important if the piece “pops” – whether it’s a blazer, coat, skirt, pants etc. it has to be tailored perfectly. If the pop is coming from the shoes, make sure they’re easy to walk in and they look flattering. Since handbags are the show-stopping part, make sure they are in proportion to your frame (a huge, bright handbag on a dainty frame will end up looking silly).

5. You also have to consider how many statement pieces the outfit has. As a general guide, I usually like it when an outfit has no more than two statement pieces, or more, and the look can feel too full. So if you’re considering adding a pop of color, make sure it doesn’t compete with looks.

The color of these perfect pumps is just so pretty and it goes so well with this time of year.

You know you’ve probably worn a monochromatic outfit on lazy days. You take off black pants and a black turtleneck, put on your black leather bomber jacket and black boots and head out the door. Yes, it’s that simple, but black is also the easiest color to start with.

While you may think that monochromatic outfits use less energy, and although they can be quite difficult to get right, especially if you venture into bright colors or bright neutrals. The monochromatic style requires some testing to find out what you like and are comfortable with. A monochromatic outfit is a very simple and clean style and I love wearing this trend when I have the right pieces to mix and match. When done right, a monochromatic look can be just as eye-catching as a patterned dress or statement jacket.

Let’s take a look at what is monochromatic, monochromatic colors, what makes a monochromatic outfit and how to style existing pieces of your wardrobe into a stylish monochromatic outfit.

What is monochromatic?

The word “monochromatic” falls into two parts: “mono” means simple and “chromatic” means color. So a monochromatic outfit would consist of parts of one color.

That doesn’t mean you would only wear solid black or solid red from head to toe. No, the joy of the monochromatic fashion trend is wearing different shades and tints of the same color, that is monochromatic colors.

If you take blue paint and gradually add white, the color blue will gradually lighten, resulting in a variety of lighter shades of blue. If you were to add black to blue, it would progressively get darker, resulting in a variety of darker shades. The light tones and dark shades of a single color are best suited to create a monochromatic outfit.

For example, you could start with charcoal wool trousers, finish with a dove gray blouse and add a pair of dark gray slingbacks to complete the monochromatic outfit. Put on some silver jewelry (a variation of gray) and you’re ready to take on the world.

The beauty of a monochromatic color combo is that it works with virtually any color you choose: purple, red, blue, green, brown, pink… you name it. So there is no reason not to dabble in this style as there are bound to be certain colors that work beautifully with your skin tone, eyes and hair, which is only enhanced when you combine several of the same color in one outfit. Up to this point, I caution against choosing monochromatic colors that clash with your skin tone or hair color. This would only reinforce the bad choice and could wash out your face if you’re pale or make you look very sticky if you’re tanned.

Monochrome Outfit Style Tips

So now you know what solid color is and want to put together a solid color outfit. where do you start

Your first step is perhaps the easiest, start by choosing the color you want to wear. As I mentioned above, make sure the color goes well with your skin tone and hair and that you feel comfortable in. The worst thing you can do is wear a color that doesn’t make your skin glow or dampen your mood in any way.

As an exercise in learning how to master the monochrome style, let’s go into your closet and pull out all the items that you have in the color you want to wear. Make sure you have all the pants, skirts, dresses, cardigans, etc. Once you have the items laid out, start experimenting by combining your pieces into outfits. See what works well together, what doesn’t, and think of several outfits that will be your favorite items.

Here are some style tips to keep in mind when putting together a monochromatic outfit.

Mix textures in your monochromatic outfit

Make sure you mix textures in your monochromatic outfit! You want to add visual interest, depth, and dimension to your look so it’s not one-dimensional or boring. My first gray monochrome outfit focused on the gray skirt. The shiny texture took this gray outfit to a whole new level. In the second outfit, the bulky cable-knit sweater balances the suppleness of the turtleneck and fedora.

Some texture combinations you can mix and match are denim and chiffon, leather and cotton, suede and silk, wool and sequins.

And don’t forget your shoes or boots when it comes to texture. They play a role in adding interest to your outfit. Think about how leather, patent, suede or satin shoes will go with the outfit you want to create. Or sequin heels! Yes, I’m in love with these silver metallic heels!

achieve balance

When combining pieces, keep balance in mind. This is a rule for any outfit, not just solid colors. You don’t want one color to overwhelm you. On the contrary, they want you to look tall and slim. Play with the proportions. If you want more information on how to put together a balanced outfit, read this post: How to Look Stylish Every Day – Your 5-Step Checklist.

For example, if you’re wearing a billowy top, be sure to pair it with fitted pants. Wear a fitted top with an A-line skirt. The same goes for the heavier sweater I’m wearing above; I paired it with skinny jeans and the fitted turtleneck sweater.

Emphasize the right areas

Emphasize the right parts of the body with the right color. If you’re wearing the same color in different tones and shades, pay attention to how dark or light each piece is.

For example: If you have very wide hips and you want to accentuate them less, you would not wear light-colored trousers or a skirt. More flattering would be the dark shade on the bottom half and the lighter shade on top. Like dark blue pants and a light blue shirt.

You can also add a belt to accentuate your waist in the solid colors you choose. A belt is a great option when your outfit is more flowy and you want to add some structure or definition. I added a belt to the large knit sweater and the sequined skirt has a ribbon that acts as a mock belt.

Pick the right monochromatic colors

It’s important to choose a color that goes well with your skin tone and your hair. For example: if your complexion is very fair and you have blonde hair, opt for navy blue instead of bright black. Women with tanned skin and dark hair might opt for a deeper color like burgundy or eggplant.

If you’re new to solid-color outfits and you’re not sure which color, start with dark neutrals like black, navy, gray, and brown. If you’re feeling bold, you can also try darker, bolder monochromatic colors like burgundy, eggplant, and hunter green. These are the best colors to play with and most likely you already own clothes in these neutral colors.

Add a touch of pattern

Monochromatic outfits don’t just have to be solid pieces; You can incorporate patterns or prints, but be warned that finding a pattern that matches your color scheme would be a bit more difficult.

To add visual interest and break up the solid blocks of color, add a print piece made up of the same color you’re working with. You can also try adding a patterned scarf or shawl for fun.

For example; Here’s a professional outfit I wore that added stripes to the mix. I love how elegant this outfit turned out! Be sure to check out: 20 Work Outfits – Decoding Women Business Casual for more work outfit ideas.

A small benefit

Monochromatic outfits are great for petite women. Dressing in a solid color can help you appear taller and slimmer as a solid color outfit creates a seamless line from head to toe. Try it and see!

Sometimes petite women steer clear of trends that are hard to wear, but I say go for it. Find the pieces that suit your character and make sure to keep it stylish!

Monochromatic outfit combinations

This outfit was photographed at the beautiful Bardessono Resort in Yountville during a winter trip to Napa Valley and was perfect for the area’s temperate climate. This skirt and sweater combination creates the perfect mix of elegant and casual. For this monochrome outfit, I wanted a moody and slightly sophisticated look.

The only color that sets accents in this outfit is, of course, grey. Every piece of clothing you see in this image is grey, except for the blue tint on the sunglasses. I like the contrast of the shiny silver gray skirt and muted gray turtleneck. The sparkle of the sequined skirt added another dimension to this monochromatic style, while the sequins themselves added a different texture.

Texture is an important element when putting together monochromatic looks like this one. If your monochromatic outfit were made of the same fabric throughout, it would probably look boring, as you learned above.

In the second image, taken on the same trip, I went back to the gray theme and paired the turtleneck with a light gray cable knit sweater and a charcoal felt hat. While the fedora and turtleneck share similar colors, they are broken up by the V-neck cardigan, which also adds texture to the mix.

Since these were winter outfits, I decided on a moody color. If I were to wear a monochromatic outfit in summer, I would choose a lighter color, while spring calls for pastels and fall for rich royal jewel tones.

How to add a pop of colour to your outfits

Monochromatic outfits have been trending for a long time and we love them too, but sometimes you just need something special to make your outfit stand out. To break up the monotony, all you need is a little pop of color that will add all the drama you need. Trust us, experimentation is the only way to beat this trend. Adding a contrasting piece to your outfit not only adds whimsy to your look, but it also gives it the wow factor. The best part is that there are no rules for this trend, you just have to choose a color that is not part of your ensemble’s color palette and ta-da! You have a brand new look. You can add color in any form to your look. We say if your outfit goes north, your jewellery, purse or shoes may go in the completely opposite direction. And every time you do this, you’ll see for yourself the difference it makes.

Our B-town ladies certainly know how to pull off this trend and make it look glamorous. Get inspired by your favorites and see how it works.
