Pop The Cork Helps Your Children to Stand Up For Themselves
Mon 01.01
Raise hands to respond or ask questions in the classroom
Ask for help if needed
Ask other children to play with them
Stand up for yourself and your friends when necessary
Teaching shy children to speak for themselves from an early age. Don’t let adults or siblings speak on their behalf.
Discourage children from worshiping and following their peers. Your children need to know that letting others tell you what to do is not a healthy friendship. A sane friend will always respect the opinions and ideas of others.
Encourage your children to order and pay for themselves in shops and restaurants, keeping in mind their “please” and “thank you” manners
Allow your children to express their opinions and even contradict you when necessary. Of course, they can do this in a calm and respectful way, and the dining table is a great place to stimulate these types of family conversations.
A child who jumps ahead of them in line A child who steals their toy A child who does not return their property to them A child who abuses them or says other disrespectful things
Unfortunately, life is full of bullies or people who don’t know how to show respect to others, both in childhood and in adulthood. Therefore, teaching your children how to stand up for themselves is an absolute necessity. That’s why The Magic Coat includes Pop the Cork figure holding the message “Sorry!” in the bottle. Children who don’t learn to stand up for themselves can be more prone to anxiety and depression as they store resentments they hold towards those who don’t treat them with the respect they deserve. Children who don’t know how to stand up for themselves are also more easily influenced by peer pressure. Your children’s future relationships also depend on them knowing how to stand up for themselves so they don’t accept being “run over”. by those they are meant to love and respect. In order for your children to be able to stand up for themselves, they need to be confident. Assertiveness is easier for some children than others, but it can be taught. It’s important for parents to understand the difference between assertiveness and aggression to ensure that indecent behavior is getting them exactly what they want from a person who feels like someone said or did something to disrespect them is the person first step they can take is to use the words “sorry” to show that they are not happy. In the magic cloak workshops, children are taught that, if someone continues to disrespect them, they can raise their “stop hand” and say “please stop, I don’t like this” or “this is not a conversation” before they goes away It’s important for children to know that it’s okay to leave a situation where they aren’t respected. In fact, learning to walk away would have saved a lot of one-punch attacks we’ve seen in the media. The workshops advise against physical violence. However, it may sometimes be required as a last resort to help children get out of an extreme or dangerous situation. They may need to push, kick or punch to run away and get adult help, but please always emphasize to them that this is a last resort. It can be extremely difficult for children to know what is and isn’t okay to stand up for themselves, so as a family, act out different scenarios in the living room so they can practice standing up for themselves, social skills, making friends or to have good manners. You must teach these skills explicitly in order to have confident and confident children who also know when to be humble and kind. Sign your kids up for the A Magic Coat workshop so they can learn many other important facts about dealing with friendships and bullying.
Pop the cork!
What about us Brits? Why is it so hard for us to shout about our achievements? To be honest, I’m the worst for it. I’m not even able to post a simple review on my Facebook page, I literally have a social media team doing it for me. When it comes up I spend half a day hiding behind a pillow because I’m so embarrassed I had the audacity to show potential clients what my existing clients think of me.
Ridiculous right?
Well, this is where it gets difficult for me. While I totally understand someone’s reluctance to shout about their business accomplishments, I’m now starting a new venture where that’s a big part of what I offer.
Milestone Events!
The thing is, I think these are a great idea. I truly believe that as business owners we work so hard to make things happen that we should definitely celebrate when things are going well. Things like;
anniversaries
awards
Opening of a second, third or fourth branch
Land the deal of a lifetime
A longtime employee
A business start
All of these things are great achievements and should be celebrated. Whether it’s a simple meal for you and a small team or a big party with your customers and suppliers, no matter how simple or extravagant you deserve it!
It’s time to take care of it. Many larger companies celebrate in style, but we as small business owners are left behind.
So what are you up to? Are you approaching the one year mark? A year in business is a big deal! Have you recently expanded, been nominated for a major award? Don’t you think you deserve a little recognition?
Still not sure? Then we look at it from a different perspective. How about a huge PR opportunity? Well, here it is!!!
Hosting an event to celebrate your milestone will only attract the right amount of attention. It’s an opportunity to show your customers, suppliers and potential customers that you are a legitimate and credible company and someone they want to do business with.
Why give it up?
So let’s make a pact. You and me. in it together. Next time we have something coming up that we know deserves a celebration, let’s tackle it! You with me?
