The reason people don’t receive more from God is because they don’t respond to it anymore. We are never received beyond the measure of our response; we must be taught how to properly respond to God and the movement of His Spirit.
Many people mistakenly think that God can do anything He wants, whenever He wants, but He can’t; He must have our approval and our appropriate response before he can intervene in our lives.
This applies not only to our lives, but also to our services. God spoke to me and said, “You can pray for My Spirit to move in your services, but if people don’t respond when It begins to move, it doesn’t matter that you prayed.”
If only people knew how to respond to the Spirit of God, they would see greater movements of God in their ministries and in their lives. Many pray for God to move, which is right, but God is looking for someone to respond to His movement.

There is a unique and sweet revelation the longer you walk with the Lord. You will be able to see these two different movements in your life: Confident and spontaneous. God will move if you haven’t asked, and God will move if you ask. As you get to grips with this revelation, over time it will change everything in your life.

With the Holy Spirit as your guide, you can be coached through any situation, no matter how difficult or challenging. The Holy Spirit is the truth-giving Spirit. Not only does he have the truth, but he has the power and authority to spread the truth. When he reveals the truth, he doesn’t just let it fall into our laps and let us find out everything. He will guide you into the whole, whole, complete truth.
Why do we need guidance when we know the truth? The reason for this is that sometimes the truth is a lot to process. A great example of this is when Adam and Eve were exposed to the knowledge of good and evil. They landed behind some trees and tried to cover up the truth about how it affected them.
In Scripture there is a connection between God, truth and freedom.

There are two types of unbelief:
Ignorance The solution to ignorance is just the opposite: Knowledge Unconvincing The answer to unconvincing is obedience. Faith, by definition, is a firm belief based on hearing. True faith says, “If God said so, then I believe it.”
When we hear the Word ministering to us, or we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, but we remain unconvinced or unresponsive, our UNBELIEF takes a side AGAINST the will of God in that area of our lives. If you want a breakthrough, you must RESPONSE to the influence of the Holy Spirit. You have to be coachable.
Let’s talk about Mary. Mary was a teenager when she got engaged and was told by Angel Gabriel that God will use her to do something that has never been done before. Imagine being told you are going to give birth to a child without ever having been with a man. Oh, and he’d be the savior of the world, so no pressure.
One of the reasons people don’t respond to the Holy Spirit is because they don’t know they can ask questions.

4 Ways To Respond To The Holy Spirit: Bobby Chaw
When Christians learn to respond to God as Abraham did, they can be as close to God as “God’s friend” was. In his Pentecost Sunday sermon, Pastor Bobby Chaw taught the church four ways to respond to the Holy Spirit.
“Pentecost Sunday reminds us that no matter what we go through in life, the Holy Spirit is here,” said Bobby Chaw, senior pastor of City Harvest Church, as he delivered his sermon on May 30-31, the weekend of Pentecost Sunday , started.
In John 14:16-18, Jesus gave his farewell speech before ascending to heaven. He promised his disciples, “I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another helper to abide with you forever.”
Pastor Bobby reminded the congregation that Jesus did not abandon his believers in this world; He sent the Holy Spirit to help them. The pastor shared the story of Abraham and taught the church how to respond to the presence, power and person of God.
“Abraham had such a close relationship with God that he was called the friend of God,” Pastor Bobby said. “My prayer is that we too will be called friends of the Holy Spirit.”
BE EMpathetic
In Genesis 18:1, God appeared to Abraham in the form of three men and Abraham recognized them immediately. Pastor Bobby painted a picture of Abraham’s circumstances at the time: It was in the heat of the day in the desert and everything and everyone was faint and lifeless, and Abraham was disappointed because he had not had an heir as promised by God.
“Abraham must have felt abandoned and forgotten by God. But he didn’t let the external circumstances deter him,” said the pastor. Abraham was so sensitive to the presence of God that he noticed it the moment God appeared and ran to meet them.
Likewise, the COVID-19 situation has created conditions of extreme stress. A lack of business and activity can leave Christians feeling abandoned by God because their dreams and visions are not being fulfilled.
“But Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit is here,” Pastor Bobby explained. “Even in the heat of the day. He is still with us.”
Indeed, in this extreme condition, Abraham’s life was turned upside down. During this encounter, Abraham’s wife Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to a son.
In Romans 8:5, the Bible teaches that Christians can choose to direct their thoughts to the things that the Holy Spirit desires. The expression “mindset” in Greek is phroneō, meaning “train the mind intensely and direct its affection intensely toward what the mind desires.” Pastor Bobby gave the example of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness.
“He fasted 40 days and 40 nights in order to divert his mind and affection from natural desires and focus on what the spirit desires,” the pastor said. Each time Jesus was tempted, he made a conscious decision to fix his thoughts on the Spirit. In the end, Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Bobby encouraged the church to remain receptive to the Holy Spirit. “Because the Holy Spirit is here and in His presence there is power and miracles can happen.”
BE PERSONAL
In Genesis 18:3-5, Abraham personally served his guests, although he could have delegated the duties to any of his servants.
“When it comes to the Lord, Abraham was always personally involved,” Pastor Bobby said. “Church, you must personally use the Holy Spirit. Be personal.”
Pastor Bobby recalled how the Holy Spirit was ever present during his past 31 years as a Christian. “I have found that whenever I close my eyes to pay attention to the Holy Spirit—to think of Him or to pray—His peace and assurance is there, even in the midst of a crisis,” he said.
Reading John 7:37-38, Pastor Bobby noted that Jesus promised, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture says, streams of living water will flow out of their hearts.”
“Notice what Jesus said: ‘If you are thirsty, you must come and drink in person’. No one else can do it for you,” Pastor Bobby explained. He encouraged each member to participate in praise and worship and pray during the service instead of just listening to the sermon.
“Because the Holy Spirit is here,” he repeated. “Jesus promised that if you come and drink in person, rivers of living water will flow from your heart, and you will experience His love, joy, and peace.”
Pastor Bobby gave a personal testimony that when his mother first accepted Christ, she always called on him to pray for her when she faced challenges. She recently learned to meditate and pray on the Scriptures. Since then she has found a special grace to overcome the challenges she faces.
“She used to get easily anxious and frustrated when things didn’t go the way she expected. But now she finds herself with peace, joy and the ability to exercise self-control even when provoked,” the pastor shared, adding that his mother is now calling him to ask how she can pray for him .
“As you claim the Holy Spirit personally, He will transform you into a better person in the image of Christ.”
BE URGENT
Abraham’s answer to the Lord was immediate (Gen. 18:6). “Abraham’s response was urgent because he loved God. Church, don’t hesitate when it comes to answering and obeying the Lord,” exhorted Pastor Bobby.
The pastor went on to teach that obedience is an expression of love. 2 Timothy 3:16 teaches that the Scriptures were written by the Spirit. So when Christians obey the Bible, they are telling the Holy Spirit that they love him.
“What is the Holy Spirit saying to you today?” he asked. “If you hear his voice today, repent immediately. Don’t hesitate.”
Pastor Bobby told the audience how he used to be a sarcastic person who used cutting words. Even after becoming a Christian, he did not change this habit. Until one day when he said something hurtful to a girl in his cell group, the Holy Spirit spoke to him to stop hurting others with his words. Pastor Bobby repented and learned to be encouraging in his words, especially to the girl he had hurt. They eventually became good friends and have now been married for 21 years.
BE SUBMITTED
In Genesis 18:2, Abraham ran to meet the Lord and bowed himself to the ground. “It’s an expression of total commitment,” the pastor remarked. In verse 5 Abraham describes himself as a servant. The Hebrew word “servant” is ebed, meaning servant or slave.
“A slave’s disposition differs from that of a servant,” explained Pastor Bobby. “A servant is still his own person, he can go where he pleases and resign as he pleases. But a servant’s life belongs entirely to his master. He can only do what Master wants him to do. Abraham was handed over completely to the Lord as a servant.”
As such, Abraham was unreserved with his resources; He prepared more than enough food for his three guests. Abraham understood that everything he had came from God.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says: “But the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” The Greek word “Lord” is kyrios, meaning “one of supreme authority.” “In other words, the Holy Spirit is the exclusive owner of our life.
“Church, are you ready to be a minister of the Holy Spirit? To love him, to do what he says and go where he leads?” challenged the pastor.
Pastor Bobby ended his sermon with 1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG): “No test or temptation that you meet is beyond the course of that which others have had to face. All you have to think about is that God will never fail you; he will never let you push yourself beyond your limits; He will always be there to help you get through it.”
He reminded the congregation that the Holy Spirit is with them and wants to help them; He encouraged them to make Him Lord of their lives so they would have the power and strength to face any challenge in life. Pastor Bobby ended his service with a prayer for all listeners to be sensitive, personal, haunting and devoted to the Holy Spirit.
