When a rod end or spherical plain bearing is mounted in single shear and not positively held by the surrounding structure, most sanctioning agencies require large diameter lock washers to prevent loss of control should the ball or race separate from the housing. Simple flat “fender” washers are large enough, but they restrict the bearing’s movement. The washer needs a chamfer to allow full freedom of movement at the joint.
Our lock washers are specially machined for this purpose. These plated steel washers have a 45 degree chamfer for unrestricted movement and an integral large diameter washer section for security. We offer SAE bore sizes from #10 (0.19″) to 5/8″ and metric bore sizes from 8mm to 16mm.
