What is the secret Santa? Rules for playing Secret Santa Gift Exchange online

You may know it as Yankee Swap or White Elephant, but around the world, from office conference rooms to vacation home parties, gift exchange games have become an unmissable tradition among friends, families and co-workers. But there really is only one king of Christmas gifts: Secret Santas. It’s the game that keeps the mystery, excitement and surprise of the Christmas present alive, turning average guys into sneaky elves.

So what is the gnome you ask?

Secret Santa is a Christmas tradition. Members of a group of friends, family, or co-workers draw random names to become someone’s Secret Santa. Secret Santa will receive a wish list of gift ideas to choose from to give to his chosen recipient. After opening the gift, the recipient has to guess which member of the group his imp was. It’s a holiday classic where guessing is just as much fun as receiving the gift.

While everyone seems to have their own rules when it comes to the pixy, the idea can be traced back to the Scandinavian tradition of knocking on someone’s door, throwing in a gift when it opens, and then running away. They call it Juklapp or “knocking Christmas”. Or the roots go even further back to German legends about the helpers of St. Nick who gave gifts to good children but not bad ones, but one thing is for sure. The tradition evolves over the years.

Online gnome games now offer a modern twist on a classic, allowing anyone from anywhere in the world to do it. It’s an update of a popular game that expands on the idea of who a pixy can be: your little elf can be anyone from your neighbor down the street to a distant colleague on the other side of the world. But whether you’re playing a traditional Secret Santa exchange or an online exchange, there are rules that add mystery, hilarity, and a little elf magic.

How to Play Secret Santa: Traditional Game Rules

The traditional Secret Santa rules are essentially pretty simple: no one knows who is giving a gift to whom. But organizing a gift exchange with your friends, family or co-workers can be a bit more complicated. Here are the steps to host a traditional Secret Santa game in person:

Write each name on a piece of paper. Gather all participants and have them scribble their names on a piece of paper. Encourage readability, otherwise people will buy gifts for “does that mean…floger?” Smocked?” If it’s difficult to get them all in the same room, you can do it yourself after each person has agreed via text message or email to say goodbye as an elf. Have everyone write down a gift idea or two. Players can write down something specific like thick red knee socks or something fairly vague like “a book, please.” The more specific the better to ensure everyone gets what they really want. Draw names to randomly assign a Secret Santa to each player. That’s the fun part; grab your hat and find out whose Christmas will make you better! The host can also do this alone, sending the other players their assigned names via email, call or text – just make sure you keep things clear with a top-secret list of who’s assigned to whom. Not even Rudolph can help you if you lose the master list! Plan a gift exchange party. Pick a day when everyone can get together, preferably before people head out for the Christmas holidays. Make sure each gift is marked with the recipient’s name, but not the giver’s! Exchange gifts, treats, and holiday cheers that last year-round. Guess who drew your name. Guessing who your sneaky imp is and revealing your own elf nature to the person you gave a gift to is reindeer’s knees. Who got you the book for your next book club meeting? Who knows how much you crave chocolate? Was it Alison? No? Then it must be… Allison? Wait, did I guess that already?

Of course, all of this is fun. But what if you want to make handling a large group easier to make sure Sally doesn’t get picked twice while Steve gets left in the snow? Or maybe you want to be able to expand your group from the North Pole to the South Pole. No reason to doubt the magic of the elves! Santa has gone digital with an online version of the gift favourite.

How to Play Secret Santa Online: The Modern Updated Rules

Let’s say you want to host a secret Santa game for friends across the country—or even the world. Maybe to bring together all your distant relatives or the Game of Thrones forum group you run. Any community of people, from anywhere in the world, can join together in a secret Santa extravaganza. Here are the rules for starting your online gift exchange:

Invite the other elves, uh, players. Set up an online Christmas gift exchange, then email an invitation to everyone in your group who might want to dress their pixie. Randomize the name selection. Digital Secret Santa’s name generation tools randomly send out tasks and wish lists and keep track of a master list of paired attendees for the host without the need for a pompom hat. Create comprehensive wish lists. Participants can create a wish list of gifts or gift inspiration from all major outlets including Amazon, Etsy, Target and more! Just set a spending limit and let them wish to their heart’s content. You can also send out a secret Santa Questionnaire so you don’t accidentally blow your cover by trying to subtly ask what size socks someone wears (just out of curiosity, for no reason, you know). exchange gifts. Wrap your gifts and send them on. Or make it even easier for yourself by selecting items from the wish list and having the gifts sent directly, so that you only have to set a delivery date. Host a global party. Set up a video chat party to open your presents and reveal your elven identities; Geography is no longer a limitation. Guess who drew your name. Well, you can’t update a classic. The guessing can be the same or, if you prefer, names can be written on the cards that come with the gifts. But come on, it’s still not Allison.

Fooling around and mysterious gift exchanges aren’t just for Christmas either! You can host an online Santa all year round for any occasion. Maybe some of your friends will all turn 40 – throw a big combo party! People can exchange gifts on President’s Day or at the end of the school year. Whatever the occasion, or even if you just want to create your own holiday, a gift exchange is always better with a pinch of surprise and a pinch of the unknown.

So what is the gnome? It’s an enigma. It’s excitement. It’s the joy of knowing that someone is thinking of you. It’s the thrill of opening something, but more than that, the magic of connection. It’s the knock on the door of a fire-warmed Scandinavian cottage and a gift thrown in from the dark and snowy woods. It’s that tingly feeling of love no matter where you are — or who shows they care.

It’s no secret why we love exchanging secret Santa gifts. Ready to start your own? Elfster’s online pixy wish lists, gift guides and digital exchanges make spreading the holiday cheer easy all year round! Sign up for free today to immerse yourself in the elf spirit – pointy ears optional.

78 Secret Santa Quotes For The Perfect Festive Message

Secret Santa is by far one of the most traditional gift swapping games you can play around the holiday season. Whether you’re organizing the event for your co-workers or trying to give fewer family gifts this year, it’s an easy way to exchange gifts at a fraction of the cost.

While Secret Santa is a great idea, it can also get tedious, especially when you’re responsible for planning each year. So why not consider some tips and tricks to transform the traditional game into something new and exciting? Below are some phenomenal ways you can host your next pixie with surprising twists everyone will love.

1. Choosing a theme for gifts

If there’s one thing everyone knows about Secret Santa, it’s that if you’re pulling the name of someone you just don’t know, it’s relatively impossible to figure out gifts. Sure, there are the traditional gifts like gift vouchers for coffee or a bottle of wine, but who wants to give typical pixy gifts?

To make it easier for participants, why not choose a theme that all gifts must fall under? That way, you can help narrow down the potential gift choices and make it a little easier for others to deal with. Some interesting topics are:

Homemade gifts

Just give re-gifts

Tacky holiday sweaters or ornaments

2. Play by the rules

Honestly, there are many ways that groups can play Secret Santa, and it’s easy to change up the rules depending on how you play. It can add a unique twist without putting too much effort into changing the game, other than explaining to the contestants what the new rules are. Depending on what changes you make, it can easily turn into something more exciting and at least different.

For example, if you’ve always played Secret Santa where people can trade gifts after seeing what other people are getting, why not make it a rule that you can only trade before a gift is opened? After unpacking, an exchange is no longer possible.

3. Purchase of random gifts

As one of Secret Santa’s basic rules, people usually pull names out of a hat to figure out what they’re buying. But at other gift exchanges like White Elephant, gifts are bought at random and people draw a number that matches a number on a gift and that gift will be theirs. This can be a great option for adding a twist to a traditional Secret Santa, and it also helps take the pressure off of buying gifts for individuals.

Instead of forcing people to buy gifts for a specific person, encourage participants to create a huge pile of free gifts that can be chosen by numbers. It can also make gift swapping a lot more fun and the next idea on our list for how to spice up the pixy this year.

4. Ugly Sweater Contest

Instead of using numbers to figure out which person will receive each gift, adding an ugly sweater contest will give the group something else to look forward to during your annual Christmas party. Everyone is responsible for designing an ugly Christmas sweater and the group votes on who is the ugliest or least ugly. Whoever wins the competition gets the first choice of gifts, then the runner-up gets the second choice, and so on.

Even as an adult, being able to choose from a huge stack of gifts helps add a little excitement to the holiday season and brings back memories of opening gifts as a child.

5. Guess the gift

Remember going downstairs on Christmas morning just to walk around all the presents under the tree and try to figure out what each present is by their wrapper? The excitement must have been overwhelming and now you can transfer the same feeling to your imp.

Have all your gift givers wrap their items in a way that is relatively indistinguishable. For example, make a wine bottle look like it’s a shoe box. Each person will then take turns guessing what the gift is based on its wrapping. You can even have the gift giver provide subtle clues as to what might be in the box, and whoever guesses first gets the gift.

To make the game fairer, once you correctly guess a present, you are taken out of the game and can watch others guess the remaining presents.

6. Make an incredibly low gift budget

If you want to see how creative your co-workers and family members can get, setting an incredibly low gift budget can be a fun idea. And by low we mean less than $5. While it may seem impossible to find quality gifts at this price point, it tempts attendees to put their hands to work creating homemade gifts or treats. You’ll also get to see how creative people can get when strapped on such a tight budget.

Although it may take a little longer to assemble the presents, it will be a far more cost-effective endeavor that attendees will look forward to. Especially when you consider that the holiday season is one of the most expensive times of the year.

7. Group Gifts

As a seventh and final idea to give your imp a twist, assign a few team leaders from across your party. The team leaders can then choose 3-4 different names from a hat and each name becomes a person on their team. It is each team’s responsibility to purchase a group gift for all other teams. This can also be a great way to cut costs for your imp.

Whether teams are buying pajama sets for an entire team or cooking essentials like oils and spices, the possibilities are relatively endless. The idea is to buy something that everyone in the group can use, rather than individual gifts for everyone on each team.

How much do you spend on Secret Santa?

If a gift limit is not specified, ask around to get a feel for what other participants plan on spending in general, or ask the organizer for some guidance. Elena Brouwer, managing director of International Etiquette Centre, said that a spending limit of $20-$25 is reasonable.

The Office Secret Santa Do’s and Don’ts

Secret Santa is one of the most popular gift exchange games played in the workplace. Each contestant draws a confidential name and is responsible for purchasing gifts and secretly delivering them to the person whose name they drew. Like all games, Secret Santa leaves a lot of room for error. Therefore, there are general rules or etiquette that participants should adhere to. Here are some do’s and don’ts to help you successfully embrace this fun holiday tradition.

What to consider when organizing an office Santa Claus

If you’re responsible for organizing the Secret Santa activity in the office, here are some helpful tips from Jacqui DiNardo, owner of Mommy Maker Teacher.

Make your money work for you

“A good Secret Santa host should give you some guidelines to follow — the spending limit, how and when gifts are exchanged, and whether or not gift cards are allowed,” DiNardo said. Choose a gift limit and ask attendees about it their hobbies or interests (to give gift givers some gift ideas).”

Be prepared: This is how much you should plan for seasonal tipping

How Much Should Participants Spend on Secret Christmas Gifts?

“Typically, the company puts out the limits, $20.00, $30.00, $50.00…” said Maryanne Parker, founder of Manor of Manners.

If a gift limit isn’t listed, ask around to get a feel for what other attendees are generally willing to spend, or ask the organizer for advice. Elena Brouwer, executive director of the International Etiquette Centre, said a spending limit of $20 to $25 is reasonable.

Good to know: The etiquette of soliciting, giving and receiving money as a gift

Is it okay to spend more or less than the spending limit?

“When specific spending limits are given, always try to be as close to the gift limit as possible,” DiNardo recommended. “By underspending, you could make someone feel undervalued. If you overspend, you could make someone feel like they didn’t have as much money to spend on their pixie as you did. Sticking to the spending limit is the number one rule of etiquette to follow for Secret Santa.”

Is it ok to give away gift cards for the santa?

“Gift cards are great, too,” Parker said. “With a card we can always bring a personal touch and express our wishes for the new year. If we know our colleague loves Starbucks, a $20.00 gift card could be a great gift. If they’re animal lovers and we get them a Petco gift card, it shows that we’ve really paid attention to their personal life away from the office.”

DiNardo also offered a way to make giving a gift card a little more personal. “In general, I wouldn’t do the whole gift unless someone specifically asks for a gift card. For example, if your person loves coffee, perhaps a pound of specialty coffee and a gift card to their favorite coffee shop would be appropriate. By giving the actual coffee, you show that you’ve put some effort into it. If you’re just giving a gift card (especially to a generic store or chain) it seems like you didn’t give that person a thought.”

Keep your secret Santa identity a secret

“Don’t reveal who you’re buying for — especially that person,” DiNardo said. “It takes the fun and celebration out of the activity for the whole group. In some cases, the secret Santa is never revealed (it’s always a secret), so make sure you know the rules for the one you’re attending.”

What if you can’t afford to participate in Secret Santa?

If you’re on a tight vacation budget, it can be difficult to partake in extras like Secret Santa this year, and that’s okay. Here’s how to deal with it.

“If you are unable to participate, be sure to withdraw your name from the activity,” said Melanie Pitman, personal finance expert and content specialist at creditcardGenius. “You don’t want to be in a situation where someone gives you a gift but you don’t have anything to contribute. Instead, get involved in other ways, such as B. hosting or decorating. By participating in the more administrative parts of the exchange, you can still enjoy the festive atmosphere and social aspect of the event without spending amounts you can’t afford. And it’s likely that others involved won’t even realize you didn’t participate in the actual gift exchange.”

Let’s face it, when most of us hear the phrase “Wichtelmann” in the office, we sigh inwardly in disappointment, knowing that most gifts are going to be goofy, cheap, and impractical. And they *dare we say* they will probably end up in a landfill or in a donation bin within a year. The silver lining is that it doesn’t have to be that way! We’ve rounded up some of the best pixy gift ideas to brighten up your holiday season.

Even if there’s a spending limit on your annual exchange (which there usually is), there are practical, high-quality gifts just right for you. You just have to be willing to shop around and most likely give yourself a buffer for shipping time.

And to take the guesswork out of the whole process, we’ve scoured the internet for gifts that will not only give you the best bang for your buck, but will also turn out to make sense. Before you know it, you’ll be known as the best gift giver on the team.

Below you will find something for everyone. From husband gifts to unique mom gifts to stress relief gifts for your boyfriend who always works, we’ve got you covered.

What should a letter from Santa say?

Explain specifically what the child did that deserved rewarding. Tell the child whether he or she made Santa’s naughty or nice list (only mention it if they are on the nice list though). Inform the child that if he or she continues to demonstrate similar positive behavior, the child will be rewarded at Christmas time.

Thread the letter with details that show Santa knows the child. For example, you could praise something specific that the child has done that year. You can also thread in references specific to your household. For example, if your house doesn’t have a chimney, you could explain that Santa Claus comes in anyway.

You can also reference a favorite pet, the child’s interests, or something they have recently done at school. You could mention family celebrations or trips to add credibility to the letter.

If you want the child to believe that the letter is really from Santa Claus, you should address it to the child in question. Also state the age of the child in the letter. Mention their name at least twice in the text of the letter and also address it to the respective child.

What is Santa’s address 2021?

The Postal Service says letters to Santa should be addressed to 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888 (which the agency says is Santa’s workshop and not his residence), include a return address and a stamp.

For generations of children, the post office has been the primary gateway to the magic of Santa Claus, quickly sending hundreds of thousands of handwritten holiday wish lists to an imaginative address in the North Pole. Now, fresh from delivering millions of ballots in November’s election, the US Postal Service is turning its attention to another massive undertaking — “Operation Santa.” But those letters to Saint Nick are being digitized and put online so “elves” — anyone hoping to spread Christmas cheer — can accept and fulfill the gift lists.

The Postal Service says children have been sending letters to Santa for 108 years, and agency employees and nonprofit organizations helped compose replies for many of those years. In 2017, the New York Postal Service launched a gift giving campaign to allow volunteers to contribute gifts and brighten Santa’s rounds on Christmas Eve. The online program was expanded to 17 cities in 2019. This year, for the first time, gift givers can send gifts from across the country.

According to a Post spokesperson, most of the letters are from children asking for things like toys, gadgets and books. But many are only looking for the bare essentials: a winter coat, a mattress, school supplies. Parents who are struggling to survive also write often, hoping for help in finding gifts for their children.

The Postal Service redacts all personally identifying information before uploading the letters to Operation Santa’s website, where they can be searched by state beginning Dec. 4. “Elves,” or people interested in adopting a letter, can then register online with the postal service to send gifts.

Last year more than 11,000 packages were sent in reply to letters sent to Santa Claus.

“Letters to Santa are typically letters in a bottle,” said filmmaker Dana Nachman, whose documentary “Dear Santa” about the letters premiered Dec. 4, according to Messages. Sometimes they are sad and show poverty in America. But they’re all written so seriously and genuinely that I can’t think of any other opportunity to get into people’s minds in such an authentic way, and they have the emotional breadth of really nothing else I can think of. On the one hand, one can have a hysterical letter. you cry with laughter Its so funny. And then again, you cry because people ask for mattresses and fridges and don’t take anything for granted.”

The Postal Service says letters to Santa Clause should be addressed to 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888 (which the agency says is Santa’s workshop and not his home), include a return address and a stamp. Children can send letters to the North Pole all year round, but the post office will only accept them until December 15th for Santa Claus.

Using the correct mailing address, including a zip code, is the most important way to ensure a letter reaches Santa, the agency said, since Santa has many names — Kriss Kringle, Father Christmas, Santa Nick and more.

“Letters written to 123 Elf Road will be processed like any other canceled first class mail,” said Postal Service spokeswoman Kimberly Frum. “The address is an official, physical address for Santa’s Workshop and all letters are delivered to this location. You could try entering it into a GPS. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn’t. But then again, the magic of the season is unpredictable.”

Should Secret Santa be revealed?

Secret Santa is a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned a person to whom they give a gift. The identity of the gift giver is to remain a secret and should not be revealed.

Western Christmas tradition

College students choose names for secret Santas and exchange gifts

Secret Santa is a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned to one person to give a gift to. The identity of the donor should remain secret and not be revealed.

The ritual stems from Christian tradition and is known as Secret Santa in the United States and United Kingdom. as Kris Kringel or Kris Kindle (Christkindl) in Ireland; as Wichteln, Wichteln, Kris Kringle, Chris Kindle (Christkindl) or Engell-Bengerl in parts of Austria; as Secret Santa or Kris Kringle in Canada and Australia; as Secret Santa, Kris Kringle or Monito-Monita in the Philippines; as Angelito in the Dominican Republic; and as “Wicheln” or “Julklapp” in Germany. Secret Santa is what a Secret Santa does, a good deed. In Poland the tradition is celebrated on December 6th (Mikołajki), in Belgium and the Netherlands on December 6th (Sinterklaas), in Ukraine on December 19th (Mykolay).[1] All of these names derive from traditional Christmas gift-bringers: the American custom is named after Santa Claus or St. Nicholas (Poland and Ukraine), while Chris Kindle and Kris Kringle are both corruptions of the Austrian gift-bringer’s original name Christkindl, meaning “Christkind”. means. Exceptions are Great Britain (where Santa Claus traditionally brings gifts) and the Philippines (with the Three Kings). Spain, Portugal and most places in Latin America use amigo secreto[2] (secret friend), amigo invisible/invisível (invisible friend) and in parts of Brazil also amigo oculto (hidden friend). In Catalonia it is also called Amic Invisible (invisible friend). In Israel, this game is called גמד וענק (A Dwarf and a Giant) and is mainly played during Purim.

Economics[edit]

The system means that each participant gives a gift and receives a gift. This is easier and less resource intensive than each participant giving and receiving a gift from all other participants.

Variations[edit]

Thieving Santa/Stealing Santa/White Elephant/Yankee Swap/Grab Bag [ edit ]

In this version, the participants (players) each bring a gift that may be suitable or interesting for one of the other participants. The gifts should be wrapped in such a way as to disguise their nature. Ideally, the provider of each gift should not be revealed when setting up the game. Players take turns and can either open a new gift or steal a previously opened gift. This game is better known as White Elephant Gift Exchange or Yankee Swap.[3][unreliable source?]

guess [edit]

In this variant, each participant brings a gift for their assigned person with a letter. This letter may contain clues as to who may or may not be the giver, depending on the rules established by the participants. Each recipient has to guess who made the gift.

Secret Casino Santa [ edit ]

In this version, each person buys a gift for a specific amount, not for anyone specifically. Each person also puts a certain amount of money into a pot. Who comes first in the gift selection can be determined by random selection. The options are:

Option A: Choose a gift

Option B: Don’t choose a gift and choose money.

Option C: Enter your name to win all unwanted gifts from those who chose option B.

At the end, the selected gifts are opened and the winner of the cash and leftover gifts is drawn.

Conspiracy Santa Claus[ edit ]

In this version, participants engage in a “conspiracy” in which all participants work together to select a gift for a single participant without that participant’s direct involvement or knowledge. Many such individual “conspiracies” are running simultaneously, one for each participant. Email threads or web apps are commonly used to manage each “conspiracy” until consensus is reached, with the gift being purchased by a specific participant and handed over at a later date. A common theme of Conspiracy Santa is collaborative learning about participants, making it popular for workplaces and schools.[4]

Secret Santa online [ edit ]

The tradition of the gnome is growing in popularity in online communities [when?].

There are several Secret Santa Generators that tell each participant in a group who to buy a gift for. This is especially useful for groups who can’t meet in person to pull names off a hat or bowl before the Secret Santa event.

Should Secret Santa gifts be wrapped?

It’s an important part of the job as all presents should be wrapped with the same paper so no clues are given away at the wrapping stage. A little tip though – always buy more than you think you need as you never know the size of gifts people will be wrapping.

78 Secret Santa Quotes For The Perfect Festive Message

4. Before packing, create printed labels with the names of all participants. Handwriting is the most likely giveaway for who bought the gift, but printed labels completely obscure everything. Add a little fun to label design by using the festive templates in Design & Print software. You can either create a design you like and just edit the names, or give each a personalized sticker. It’s your decision!

5. Now for the fun part! While using the software, you can also create a “Secret Wrapping Room” sign. Choose a room that won’t be used on gift wrapping day (preferably one that won’t be visible if you have one) and secretly let everyone know the window of time they need to wrap. Don’t post the times so no one knows who wound first and last. Make sure the space includes everything the packaging needs, from festive paper to tape to bows and those all-important printed labels. You could even give the room a more festive vibe with mince pies, mulled wine, decorations, and a Christmas playlist.

6. Inside the room you should also place a bag in which each of the gifts will be placed wrapped. At the end of the day, display gifts neatly under your office Christmas tree until you’re ready to exchange them.

78 Secret Santa Quotes For The Perfect Festive Message

Having a Secret Santa at work is an integral part of the holiday season, whether you’re buying a thoughtful gift or a joke gift, it can bring some laughs around the office. But it takes some organization and one little slip-up can ruin the whole game – so what’s the best way to organize an imp?

1) Explain the rules

Although Secret Santa is a game that many of us have played, some people may have never heard of it or are new to the concept. Send a group email explaining the rules of the game. A simple way of describing it would be, “The goal of Secret Santa is to buy someone a gift and not let them know it’s you.” They will pull a random name out of a hat and buy for that person, more details to come.”

You might want to explain a hypothetical scenario so people can get an idea of how to play and decide if they want to participate.

2) Put names in a hat

Always give people the choice to get involved or not. Some people may have the last week of work before Christmas off or don’t want to spend money on a gift for someone they may not necessarily know if they work in a large office. Send an email around asking people to RSVP if they want to attend and give a deadline.

When you have your final list, download our Secret Santa Kit and print out your list of names. Fill in and cut out the boxes with anyone who would like to participate. Fold the squares together so that no one can see the name inside and place them in a “hat” (such as a bowl or plastic box).

Have everyone look for their name inside the “hat” and tell them that if they look for their own name, put it back and choose a new one.

Subject to this exception, persons should not be allowed to change their name for another. If someone is absent, a person should pick a name from the “hat” for them (without looking) and leave it on their desk for their return.

3) Decide on budget and date

You should decide on a budget. A general rule is £10-15, or if you want to encourage humorous and original gifts you can set a limit of £5.

There should also be a cut-off date and a gift exchange date. The cut-off date should be a date when everyone can receive their gift. Some people choose to move an annual holiday before Christmas and want to collect their gift before they leave. The gift exchange date is usually the day the office closes for Christmas.

Choose a place to leave gifts. Is there a Christmas tree in the office? This could be the perfect spot for people to drop off their gifts, or a vacant desk for example.

Are there any additional details? Some people like to set a theme for their pixy – it could be a mug, a calendar or an original sweater, for example. It depends on you!

4) Give everyone details

Once you have decided on the above, print and fill out your Secret Santa Information Poster. Stick it up somewhere everyone can see or email it to the office so people know how it works and by when a gift can be purchased.

You could also offer gift tips or invite them to use The Present Finder for inspiration.

5) Organize the gift exchange

You might want to organize something before the gift exchange. Want to host a festive buffet while people unwrap their presents? Or maybe there are some year-end awards up for grabs and you can use this as the perfect opportunity. Whatever you decide, it should be an exciting occasion.

Remember, on the card, just write “Merry Christmas from your KK.” The receiver is not meant to know who their gift was from, hence Secret Santa. Simply purchase a massage voucher to the value of the KK. Again the budget is usually $10. In other situations it can be $15, no more than $20.

Top cheap Christmas gift ideas and a great KK

Image: freedigitalphotos.net – Don’t go red this Christmas as Kris Kringle/Secret Santa

As you may have experienced with Christmas in the past, you may have been someone’s KK or Kris Kringle. Or maybe her secret Santa. The term “KK” can mean either Kris Kringle or Secret Santa. If you are not familiar with this form of Christmas present; How it works (especially in the workplace) is that each person’s name is put in a hat. The name you pull out of a hat is the person you need to buy a cheap gift for. For everyone who participates, the spending amount is usually $10 for each gift. You will be informed of the amount spent before making your decision on whether or not to participate in this affordable gifting process. For many people, their budgets and means are insufficient to buy a gift for everyone at work or in your office. So there’s no guilt about not being able to buy a gift for everyone. Everyone gets something, so no one is left out in the KK, Kris Kringle and Secret Santa process. The idea is to spread the Christmas spirit. Many families adopt this system so their family won’t be called the “Grinches” family who stole Christmas. Especially since many household budgets are now tighter than ever. But here’s the tricky situation, especially for the workplace – what if you end up being a KK for someone you don’t know well – what do you do then? This actually happened to my friend in a year when his workplace took part in KK. He was given a beer bottle opener, and yet he never drinks alcohol. That’s why I created this list to help you with the best KK gift ideas that will ensure you are a happy KK giver and spread the Christmas cheer. Remember, just write “Merry Christmas from your KK” on the card. The recipient shouldn’t know where his gift came from, hence Secret Santa. Just buy a massage voucher worth KK. Again, the budget is usually $10. In other situations it may be $15, no more than $20. All you have to do is buy one from a Chinese massage shop near your place of work. This way, the recipient of your KK gift can then choose what type of massage they would like. We all experience some sort of tension somewhere in our body (from time to time), so a massage is a great way to relieve it Lindt chocolates, and I was right on budget. He shared them around for all of us to enjoy. Funnily enough, my KK brought me the exact same box of chocolates that same year. It was an all-around great gift. Chocolate is the Christmas theme. Hands up who doesn’t love chocolate? That’s right, I can feel that not many hands are being raised at the moment. They are practically everywhere. Who doesn’t love Boost Juice? Buy your KK a Boost Juice voucher worth your KK spend. If they don’t like their healthy smoothies, they can always buy some of the saucy ones with chocolate in them. Or there are other snacks they can buy. With a $15 KK budget, at least a couple of full-size smoothies will be enjoyed. While gaming shouldn’t be encouraged, even for those of us who don’t bet on Melbourne Cup horses, we still love a little scratch card once in a while. Your recipient of such a gift could walk away with far more than the KK originally spent. We all love to see a great movie. This way, the recipient of your KK gift can also choose the film session of their choice. If the ticket is just $2 over your budget, your recipient will love you for it, and it’s not asking too much. More suitable for a KK experience in the office. A simple one is suitable if you do not know the tastes of the person you became a KK for. Fill it with jelly beans or chocolate. Especially for the office, and anyone who has worked (or works) in an office has always had something sweet to give them energy during their working day. A pair of brightly colored pens from Smiggle will please you (like the KK) and will put a sweet smile on your recipient’s face. We all need such stationery to write things down from time to time. A great office KK gift idea. Perfect for those who commute longer distances to get to work. A great companion especially on train journeys to and from work. Mentioned have been some of the best KK gift ideas that will suit any recipient regardless of preferences and interests. No more thinking. Enjoy being the secret Santa this Christmas. If you have any other top KK gift ideas, please share them by leaving a comment for everyone’s benefit.

Secret Santa Letter For Parents Teaching Resources

I’m sending this home to help parents know what is and isn’t allowed for a winter party at school and to limit amounts for Secret Santa. On ClassDojo, I also asked anyone who couldn’t afford an item to make a donation so everyone could participate. I made an easy to use Excel document to keep track of who has who in the classroom and whether or not they have their gift yet (I’ve attached the headers on the third page for you to use…makes it easy to insert in Excel or a word table).

6H Classroom Connection: Secret Santa Parent Letter

School Verse 2017-2018: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
