How do you give a gift to someone’s hotel room?

It’s really simple – you call the hotel directly – during their business hours (yes, you may have to be up in the middle of the night) and ask to speak to the Concierge. They can tell you how to do this and even suggest sources for the type of basket you want.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Hello experts

I have friends who are getting married in Central Park on September 30th and would like to send a gift basket to their hotel. I have tried to confirm the hotel’s policy on this as I know that some hotels occasionally do not accept deliveries for guests and I wanted to ask if they could place the item in their room. The time difference between Australia and the US means that it’s not easy to speak to day workers and I didn’t have much success talking to the operator as she couldn’t understand my accent and tried to put me through to deliveries (which wasn’t the case is). what I would think what I want) and the line dropped and kept doing so when I tried again so I figured I’d try other avenues as well. The hotel is the Courtyard Marriott in West St Chelsea. I was able to contact the Marriott group (they directed me to their headquarters in Aus – I wanted an email address for the hotel to write to them and none was published that I could find) and they said they could would have sent a message to the hotel my name and the hotel will contact me in 5 to 7 days but time flies.

Just thought someone here who has done this might know – generally most hotels are happy to accept this and do you think I can go ahead and place an order? I assume I address it to guest names c/- Concierge?? at the address of the hotel? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I’ve never attempted this abroad, except at Disney hotels, which are great in this regard and have a set policy on how to address delivered items. I’ll wait a bit longer to see if I get an answer but thought there was no harm in asking further here and the TA folks are so knowledgeable and helpful.

Also recommendations on who offers good gift baskets in the New York area. I liked the look of the ones from Chelsea Market.

Thank you for any advice.

How do you send something to someone’s hotel room?

The mail moniker c/o, which stands for “care of,” comes in handy here. Make sure that each package is marked c/o the name of the place you’re staying at or the person you’re sending it to (and who has presumably agreed to take care of it).

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

If you need package statistics, you can often have them sent to your temporary location where they will be kept for you. Mail also comes to hotels.

I recently needed a dress for a wedding that was shipped to the hotel I was staying at in Portland. Having been on the road non-stop for the past two weeks it would have been close to having it sent to my home as I would have had less than 24 hours to collect it before heading out again.

It was time to cut out the middle man. (Don’t come between a girl and her clothes.)

In the past I’ve had a lot of success sending packages to hostels, hotels and other places I’ve stayed. Before I send anything I always call ahead and ask if it’s possible to send a package and almost every time it’s never been a problem.

This time I called the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower in Oregon, who did pretty well. Which is great because I literally commute between New York, San Francisco and Portland.

If you want to be extra safe, call hotel staff and let them know a package is coming after it’s been sent. The more details you can give them – e.g. B. Your arrival date, package arrival date and your name – the better.

Most hotels do this for free and the ones that charge, well, they just suck.

The mail nickname c/o, which stands for “care of”, helps here. Make sure each package is labeled with the name of the property or whoever you are sending it to (and who has presumably agreed to take care of it).

For those of you who haven’t sent mail since the Stone Age, a sample mailing address would look like this:

Are the Wynn flowers real?

The flowers were shipped in from California, Hawaii and Holland. Production, set up and take down took a total of 2,000 man-hours. Overall, between hotel and guest needs, Cramer’s department handled, cut or arranged more than 1,000,000 stems in 2016, an average of 2,740 a day.

When tourists take their portraits in front of the Wynn Las Vegas’ ornate atrium, they often wonder aloud if the flower sculptures and trees are real.

They scratch the bark of dozens of 50-year-old ficus trees with their fingernails. They stare at the flower-covered spheres for a long time.

Whether they can tell reality from fiction, they’re generally in awe and stuffing the Wynn hashtag on Instagram with photos.

Gary Cramer, a soft-spoken, avuncular man with blue eyes and white hair, watches the tourists in the atrium five days a week while taking his daily 8:30 a.m. walk around the Wynn and Encore Hotels to inspect 12,000 flower pots and 5,500 fresh stalks in the public spaces, traveling six to eight miles in the process.

“Standing back and watching them in the atrium say, ‘Oh my God’ — that’s the best feedback,” says Cramer, 60, landscaping manager at Wynn and Encore.

Cramer’s team – which includes 24 florists, 35 outdoor gardeners, 25 indoor gardeners and 17 managers and supervisors – is able to pass the resort unnoticed.

And that’s the goal.

Early start

The 24 florists, led by Evelyn Herrera, work in a 5,000-square-foot space beneath the casino’s main level, cleaning and trimming the fresh stems brought in weekly from Asia, Holland or California, including 350 Phalaenopsis orchids from Taiwan and Vietnam.

Delivery trucks drive right up to an opposite wall near the 1,500-square-foot horticultural room refrigerator.

The first shift begins at 3am watering all floral arrangements in public areas, including hotel and elevator lobbies, restaurants and retail outlets.

Workers cut out damaged flowers and replace them with fresh ones. Each floral arrangement is replaced with a new piece twice a week.

The 7,000 potted seasonal colors in the atrium are swapped out every three weeks over a three-day period.

To get this job done by the time guests get up for breakfast at 7am, the team starts at 2am.

1,000,000 stems

Cramer’s team also handles floral arrangements for many private events, such as weddings and corporate meetings, and guest requests for holidays such as Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

A white calendar board on the horticultural department wall shows at least 11 events, mostly weddings, in the coming days.

It hangs across from the department computer, which is checked every 10 minutes for urgent requests from the concierge. On a typical working day, it’s five to ten, and 15 to 20 at the weekend.

For a lavish wedding, Cramer’s team had to arrange 20,000 flowers, including 4,000 orchids. The flowers came from California, Hawaii and Holland. Production, assembly and dismantling took a total of 2,000 man-hours.

In total, Cramer’s department processed, cut or arranged more than 1,000,000 stems in 2016 based on hotel and guest needs, averaging 2,740 per day.

special exhibitions

Wynn and Encore, like some other Las Vegas resorts, create special exhibits for events such as Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and the Native New Year.

Roger Thomas, who leads Wynn’s design team, oversees such projects. Cramer works with Thomas to ensure the floral arrangements are consistent with the master plan.

“Whether it’s carpets, curtains, pots, vases, plant material or flowers, our job is to maintain the integrity of the design vision created by Mr. Wynn and Roger Thomas throughout the building. Inside and out,” Cramer said.

Thomas and Cramer last week finalized plans for the 2018 Chinese New Year presentation, which will feature three 9-foot-tall, gold-leafed dogs surrounded by flowering chrysanthemums, begonias and calandivas.

Today at Wynn and Encore, peonies, garden roses, tea roses, sweet peas, Cataleya orchids and calla lilies are on public display for Mother’s Day. Cramer and Herrera expect another 3,000 guest orders for the Mother’s Day holiday.

In early June, Cramer will begin replacing the much-touted 120-round flower sculpture that hangs on Wynn. The new ones will contain 24 with a different shape.

Wynn Las Vegas doesn’t disclose how much the hotel spends on its floral supplies, but with around 286,000 stems and 121,000 potted plants — some exotic ones — shipped annually for indoor use only, the bill is likely in the millions. Cramer also oversees the 13 acres of green space outside of the Wynn and Encore.

“We’re given all the resources to create the things we need,” Cramer said. That echoes a statement by Steve Wynn during a May 2 hospitality conference he attended with Thomas to discuss their collaboration.

“We don’t design by budget, we don’t design by material, we design by emotion. We don’t care if it’s 100 or 1,” Wynn told Design Hospitality Expo with Thomas by his side.

“Our buildings use sunshine, plants and water,” Wynn said. “You are what we all think is beautiful.”

California roots

Cramer’s career path, which would take him to the head of Wynn’s horticulture division, began at a young age and involved an element of good timing.

Cramer recalls helping his grandmother plant flowers in her backyard in Southern California when he was 4 years old. At 12, he was redesigning his parents’ garden in San Diego, planting sweetgum trees, as well as gazania, marigolds, and hollyhocks.

He then studied ornamental horticulture at California Polytechnic State University and worked in a nursery for 17 years.

He might still be at the nursery today if it wasn’t for a visit to Las Vegas in 1997. While strolling down the Strip, he passed the Bellagio, which was then under construction. The $1.6 billion project was the most expensive hotel in history when it opened in 1998.

“I thought this would be a cool place to work and applied,” he said. “I was looking for a challenge.”

After a decade at Bellagio, moving to MGM Resorts International in 2002, Cramer joined Wynn in 2008 and became Director of Horticulture.

Despite all the exotic flowers that have passed through his hands in his nearly 20 years in Las Vegas, Stock is still his favorite, perhaps for the childhood memories as well as the beauty and fragrance.

“The scent is strong and I always think of my grandmother that day when I smell her.”

Who is better FTD or 1800flowers?

(We received the credit.) One 1-800-Flowers arrangement was the group’s favorite by a small margin; another was also their least favorite, again by a small margin. Respondents were slightly more satisfied with the FTD arrangements overall.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re like many people, you’re planning to say “I love you” with flowers. So we wanted to see how two of the largest online flower delivery services, 1-800-Flowers.com and FTD, compare. We had a similarly priced and matched rose and mixed bouquet from each service delivered the same day. Then a few days later we placed a second order for a total of eight deliveries. We photographed every arrangement in our photo studio. Then 112 people filled out two questionnaires. The first asked them how happy they would be on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being totally dissatisfied, 5 being totally satisfied) if they received each arrangement. In a second questionnaire, they were asked how satisfied they would be with the arrangements if they compared them to the online photos. We also looked at the websites and policies of the services.

What do white roses mean?

White roses symbolize purity, youthfulness, and innocence. Young love, eternal loyalty, and new beginnings are also commonly tied to the meaning of white roses, making them a popular choice for weddings and romantic occasions.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then fresh roses are worth a million. Roses have been one of the most popular types of flowers for weddings, events, special occasions, holidays and more for many years. This universal flower comes in a variety of shades, so how do you know which rose color to choose? After considering your color palette, you may want to think about rose color meaning and what each rose color symbolizes. Understanding the meaning of flower colors adds an extra emotional layer to your arrangements. Plus, when your flowers align with the message you’re trying to convey, you’ll feel more personally connected to them!

Here are some of the most important rose color meanings to know before ordering your flowers:

Red roses symbolize all the things that make a love story great: passion, desire, true love and romance. No wonder the red rose has become a classic Valentine’s flower! In a bridal bouquet or other wedding arrangement, red roses can represent newlywed bliss and mutual respect and appreciation between the couple. In deeper hues like burgundy, red roses signify a desire for commitment and a passion for that special someone. If you want to say those three magic words, red roses are a time-tested way to tell someone “I love you!” With such a classic look, red roses go well with all types of flowers, but they look especially beautiful with other romantic flowers like gypsophila.

What flower means death?

Chrysanthemum. This ancient flower is traditionally viewed as a death flower.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

There are a few flowers that represent death. Most of these flowers, symbolizing death, are also popular choices for funeral flowers.

Black Rose The black rose is actually an extreme shade of purple or red. This unusual rose color is associated with death. It is easy to understand why this rose symbolizes death since the color black is the color used to show that someone is mourning.

Chrysanthemum This ancient flower is traditionally considered the flower of death. Mums have long been a popular grave plant across Europe. The popularity of the beautiful, curving chrysanthemum (petals curling up and in) as a cemetery ornamental plant predestined it to become the flower that represents death and is most commonly used in funeral bouquets and arrangements. However, in most Asian cultures, mothers have a positive and even revered place within the culture.

Red poppy Red poppy is the veteran’s memorial flower. In particular, the flower became a symbol of those who died in World War I and later in World War II.

Why the Red Poppy Represents Death This naturally growing western European flower is so hardy that it has rushed and taken root in war-ravaged or damaged areas. It delivered beautiful red patches of beauty against the destructive backdrop of war.

Symbol of Death in War Red poppies quickly became a symbol of the blood shed by soldiers. After the war, the red poppy became a flower of remembrance. People around the world wear it in their lapels or attached to clothing on various veteran and armistice days.

Yellow Flowers Mean Death You don’t want to send a bouquet of yellow flowers to anyone in Central America or South America. Unlike North America, these two continents have a long tradition and history of yellow flowers as powerful messengers of death.

Day of the Dead Gravesite Flower Decorations Yellow flowers of all kinds are used to decorate family gravesites in Central and South America. During the Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos) celebrations, yellow flowers are placed on graves and used as decorations for the celebration. While yellow marigolds are a popular flower, large yellow sunflowers and other flower varieties are used.

Believe in helping spirits return The use of yellow flowers is linked to cultural folklore. It is widely believed that placing bouquets of yellow flowers on the graves of loved ones calls their spirits to their graves so family members can spend time with them.

Dried White Rose The unique meaning of a dried white rose is a stark either-or sentiment. This fragile looking flower, freeze dried in the modern world, means that death is far preferable than losing one’s virtue. It’s the rose that makes everyone stop.

What flower means forever love?

Admired for its sweet scent and trailing vines of pink and orange flowers, the honeysuckle symbolizes devoted and everlasting love.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

The violet symbolizes modesty, the snowdrop symbolizes hope. White lily signifies purity and sweetness and the spiritual beauty of the cherry blossom.

Flowers have held symbolic importance for cultures around the world for centuries. However, it was not until the Victorian era in Europe that one of the most complicated floral languages developed, sparked by a strong passion for gardens and horticulture. Referred to as floriography, each flower and even color was associated with a different emotion or quality, becoming a sophisticated way of conveying innermost messages and feelings at a time when a strict code of etiquette dictated modesty and purity. With this secret language, a small bouquet of white jasmine and periwinkle given to a friend became a symbol of kindness and good memories, a bouquet of lilac lilacs signaled the very first feelings of love to a suitor, and a pleasant red carnation a buttonhole Lord betrayed a deep admiration. Flowers were valued not only for their beauty but also for their ability to communicate.

Today, whether you’re a modern romantic or a lover of flowers, understanding the language of flowers will add a whole new level of meaning to your next arrangement. To get acquainted with the art, we recommend The Language of Flowers by Odessa Begay, out this spring. A delightful compendium tracing the intriguing stories and symbolism behind a garden of flowers. The book is complete with adorable illustrations that really bring the flowers to life. In the meantime, read on to discover the meaning of some of our favorite strains.

If no one is available to take the arrangement, we will sometimes leave the arrangement at the door or may need to contact the recipient to let them know that delivery is attempted and when the best delivery time would be. If we don’t get a response from the recipient, we’ll automatically reschedule delivery for the following day.

4. How do I know if my order has been delivered?

Visit our Check Status page for the most up-to-date status. You can call 877.638.3033. A delivery confirmation is often sent by email once the delivery has been made and entered into our system. Plus, you’re likely to get a call from a grateful recipient!

5. How can an incorrect delivery confirmation occur?

Unfortunately, in rare cases, the delivery confirmation information is incorrect. We rely on FedEx, UPS and local affiliated florists to provide us with delivery information and we simply share this information with our customers at first. In the event that we are notified of the potential inaccuracy, our team of dedicated Customer Service Representatives will investigate and rectify the matter.

Some typical reasons for inaccurate reported information are: the driver simply reported the wrong order number as delivered; the order was delivered to a security guard or receptionist; the delivery was left at a door or entrance that the customer did not initially notice; the delivery was posted at the wrong place or address; The driver entered all of his deliveries when he returned to the flower shop and used a standard time so the times are incorrect. the deliverer anticipated the delivery and indicated that it was delivered just before realizing it was undeliverable and they did not rectify the error; The flower designer intends to deliver on the way home from the store and marks the item as delivered as it will not return to the system to enter it but for some reason the delivery could not take place; The item was stolen at the delivery point. Although rare, we’ve seen many reasons, but these are the most common.

Avas Flowers would never intentionally provide inaccurate information and we will do our best to resolve any issues where there is a discrepancy between the information originally provided and what actually happened.

If you haven’t reported an issue and need to do so, please visit our Customer Support page and select the Where’s My Stuff option by clicking here.

6. What benefits do you offer your customers?

Through our decades of experience and carefully curated research into capacity, pricing and local availability, we create tremendous value for our customers. We also leverage our long-standing relationships to bring our customers great deals with the best savings. With this extensive knowledge base and purchasing power, we are able to drive localized fulfillment to help our customers achieve the best possible results for their flower order. Read more about who we are and what we do.

7. Why are prices so high at other florists?

Many florists buy in small quantities and pay very high prices for these flowers. A typical wholesale florist has a huge markup when selling to retail florists. Many retail florists also deliver very little, just a few deliveries per day. These florists think they need to make a lot of money from each order to be profitable, so they charge high prices.

8. Why do your flowers last longer?

The typical retail florist buys flowers in small batches from a wholesale florist’s inventory. This stock may be up to 2 weeks old at the time of purchase! This retail florist may also not be able to turn that stock quickly. Flowers last a long time in a cooler, but once taken out of that cooler to use when the flowers are older, they just don’t last. We bypass the flower wholesaler – because we are one ourselves – and buy directly from the farm. In fact, we get our flowers delivered in cold store tractor trailers! Many shops stop at a wholesaler in the morning to pick up a box or a bunch of flowers! Our product is just way fresher than what our competitors are offering due to the way we buy and sell.

9. Can I specify the delivery time?

We do our best to meet your delivery requirements, but do not guarantee delivery times. When it comes to schools, businesses and social services, we understand the time-sensitive nature of these deliveries. Sometimes weather, short notice and location may not make your request possible, but we will endeavor to satisfy you with prompt delivery. During the holiday periods it is very difficult and unlikely that we can accommodate requests for scheduled deliveries as the volume of orders simply does not allow for this type of service.

10. How much does it cost to have flowers delivered?

Avas Flowers has a delivery fee of $9.99 plus a service fee of up to $32.99 for personally delivered florist orders and prices start at $39.99 for gift boxed items. In the event that the delivery address is a remote or rural location, additional charges may apply and we will contact you to let you know. If we receive an incorrect delivery address, we may charge an additional service fee to re-route the arrangement.

11. What can I do if I am not satisfied with the flowers delivered?

In the unlikely event that this happens, rest assured that Avas Flowers will do our best to make you happy. We will collect and redeliver another arrangement if you notify us within 24 hours of receiving the flowers. Our caring and experienced staff will do their best to ensure your satisfaction. If the recipient keeps the flowers delivered and we are not able to collect and redeliver another arrangement, we may not be able to issue a refund.

12. What if I don’t have the exact shipping address?

If you do not have the exact shipping address, we will do our best to locate your recipient. However, unless we receive a physical address from the sender, we cannot be held responsible for inaccurate or misplaced deliveries. In many cases, a recipient’s phone number will enable us to locate the recipient.

13. Where are you located?

We are located at 200 Continental Drive, Suite 401, Newark, Delaware.

14. Do you contribute or donate to local charities and organizations?

Avas Flowers is a proud sponsor of many local non-profit organizations. We may be able to provide raffle gift certificates for a dozen roses or an entire box of 200 roses for your organization to create floral decorations for a charity event. If you are a non-profit organization and would like to be considered for a donation, please email us with your contact information, a description of the charity, the location of the event and the date of the event and we will get in touch with you Set connection.

15. Additional Fees

Additional charges may apply for Saturday/Sunday orders, rush orders, lead design, custom orders, special orders. Feel free to contact us if you have any special requests or would like a product or service that is not listed on our website and we will try to accommodate.

16. How can the order be canceled after it has been placed?

In rare cases, after placing the order, we unfortunately find out that the order simply cannot be delivered. This can occur for a variety of reasons. Some possibilities include:

Flower products arrive in poor condition

Insufficient amount of flowers

A different assortment than expected is received

Location accessibility may be an issue, or delivery location information may be initially incorrect

Weather conditions may prevent transit or prevent the driver from leaving items in one place

The cooling of the product can be affected

Local florists may change their capacity status

Customers may not respond to alternatives in a timely manner or follow up on information needed for delivery

Local florists may not respond to inquiries in a timely manner

Flower designers, drivers or other staff may be unexpectedly unavailable to effect delivery

Delivery vehicles may experience repair issues

No one is available to take delivery

The reasons are not limited to the above examples as they are extensive and circumstances vary. However, the examples given are intended to give an impression of the complications that can sometimes arise when delivering perishable products.

While relatively rare, we find at certain points that we are simply unable to provide the flower delivery service a customer has requested. This is only after our dedicated team has made every effort to find alternative solutions to overcome any obstacles encountered with that particular order. It is only from that point that we have no choice but to cancel the order, issue a refund and inform the customer accordingly. We understand that this is disappointing and not the intended result. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

17. When will I see a refund on my credit card statement?

If Avas notifies you that you have received a refund, we have initiated the refund on our end. Your credit card issuer determines when the refund transaction is posted. After we issue a refund, we have no control over when it is posted to a customer’s account. You may want to contact your credit card issuer or bank to inquire about how long it typically takes for them to post a merchant refund, as this time varies.

In some cases where an order is fully refunded on the same calendar day it was placed, the initial charge to your account for the amount of your purchase from Avas Flowers will simply be released and cancelled. This means your account is never actually charged, so you would not see a credit for that purchase. In cases where you receive a full refund the same day you place your order, please check your card statements carefully as you may not have been charged for your purchase at all.

Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Welcome summer with the debut of Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens’ spectacular new exhibit, Jungle of Dreams. A tribute to the animal kingdom with 28 animal sculptures and nearly 10,000 plants and flowers, Jungle of Dreams takes guests on a journey through a magical place with moments of discovery and whimsy around every corner as majestic animals gather to crown the to celebrate king of the jungle.

“With the redesign of the conservatory for this new summer exhibition, a dream came true for me. Working with Bellagio’s talented horticultural team, we brought to life a compelling visual and dramatic setting as only Bellagio can,” said designer Ed Libby. “New elements, including LED screens, along with tropical plants, foliage and flowers from around the world, provide eye candy for all visitors and transport them into this very special space that we have created.”

In the background, birds chirp, crickets sing, the wind gently blows and a lion roars, while a magnificent and theatrical soundtrack with the sounds of the jungle adds a soothing layer to the performance. Jungle of Dreams runs through September 10, 2022.
