You might be trying to place stairs through the white lines – the white dotted lines show where the rooms above are, so you can’t place stairs on them:

There might be something in the way on the floor above – use the “Floor” button on the side of your screen to see what’s in the way up (the squares will turn red if there’s something in the way up).

To fix this, you could move items up that are in the way. If this isn’t possible because of a wall in the way, you may need to choose a different style of staircase, which I did. I couldn’t fit in these stairs so I chose the compact stairs instead.

How do I send my Sim to the Community Center?

Go to the Community Center and click the whistle next to a Sim who is not currently using the Simtracker. This post explains more about the Simtracker

I don’t understand what you mean when you say you can call both destinations at the same time, the home store/hotline to save time?

This objective spawns twice, so it’s like you can start an objective early that you have access to (read the question below if you don’t understand). To do this, you need two Sims and two different houses:

1- If your goal is to call the home store, you can set Sim 1 to do the task

2- In another house that you have to stay away from until you reach the second objective, you can also let Sim 2 do the task

Here are some instructions on how to build a room:

To build a room, hold and drag on the grass or anywhere in an existing house. A green room means it can be built, red means it cannot be built.

Drag walls highlighted in white to resize existing rooms.

BUILD A SPACE

As the instructions say you have to hold and pull the grass inside the grid, you can’t build space outside the grid. After dragging and creating a room, you will see an image similar to the following:

Click the red cross to delete it or click the green tick to build it at the price shown on screen.

The room will turn red if you can’t build it there, as shown below:

L-SHAPED SPACES

Once you complete the L-shaped room feature quest, you can create L-shaped rooms!

You must first create a room as usual as shown in the steps above. Then you will now see one of these two orange buttons on the screen. Click the Room Renovation button to be able to create an L-shaped room, and when you’re done Done click the Room button to create regular rooms:

DELETING A ROOM

Deleting a room is actually a sale as you earn Simoleons when you delete it. To delete a room you have to go to the Rooms tab again, then you can click on a room and if it can be deleted it will look like in the image below:

You can click the check mark to keep the room or click the red simoleon to sell the room at the price displayed next to the red simoleon button. All items in the room will be moved to your inventory – except for the wallpaper and flooring.

Not all rooms can be deleted, if it looks like the image below you can’t delete it:

Why can’t I delete a room?

The two main reasons are:

If you have a second or third floor, you cannot delete a room if there is a room above it. You need to clear the space above it first, which is why I can’t clear the space in the image above.

If there is a plate in the room, you must first clean it up with a Sim before you can clear the room.

RESIZE A ROOM

In the same tab, you can resize any room that has a highlighted arrow edge. It looks like the picture below:

When you resize the room, the same options appear as when building a room.

Why can’t I shrink every room? When two rooms of different sizes are next to each other, you have no option to resize between the two rooms. Rooms must be the same size to change them together.

The Sims FreePlay is a strategic life simulation game developed by EA Mobile and later with Firemonkeys Studios. The Sims Freeplay received “generally positive reviews” from critics, with an aggregate Metacritic score of 80/100.

Surf the Internet – 4 minutes (on a computer)

Bake Banana Bread – 20 hours (don’t care if you have burns, can start early

Creative Chat with a Sim – 2 minutes 48 seconds

Call the Home Store on the phone – 9 hours

QUEST IS COMPLETED!

You can now add up to 5 floors to your house – a second floor costs 300,000, a third floor costs 500,000, a fourth floor costs 800,000 and a fifth floor costs 1,000,000!

You can also complete the woodworking hobby with the benches in the community center

You unlock stairs and fire bars even if you don’t finish the quest in time

Once you complete the Terrace, Balcony and Basement quests, you will unlock 4 more stairs:

Limited Time Prize: Elevators and Escalators

Is the price worth it? Yes, there are some really nice elevators and escalators, but you have to buy them, it’s also quite difficult to complete the quest within the time limit, especially when it takes you forever to save up and build the community center.

I missed this quest! Why can’t I start it yet?

You cannot miss main quests, they must be completed in order. You must complete all previous quests (see list here) and reach level 17 before you can start this quest

Can I complete this quest even though I passed level 17?

Yes, you just need to complete all previous quests then this quest will start automatically

Why are there two versions of this quest?

Some quests have two versions because when the creators updated the times for quests, they didn’t update them on all devices, so some players still get the old times

I can’t afford the community center, how can I earn more Simoleons?

This post can help

The game says I need to complete the multi floor renovation quest to be able to build the community center. What is the problem?

There’s no problem, you have to start the multi-story quest and the first objective is to build the community center, so you can’t build it until you complete that first objective in the quest

How do I send my Sim to the Community Center?

Go to the Community Center and click the whistle next to a Sim who is not currently using the Simtracker. This post explains more about the Simtracker

I don’t understand what you mean when you say you can call both destinations at the same time, the home store/hotline to save time?

This objective spawns twice, so it’s like you can start an objective early that you have access to (read the question below if you don’t understand). To do this, you need two Sims and two different houses:

1- If your goal is to call the home store, you can set Sim 1 to do the task

2- In another house that you have to stay away from until you reach the second objective, you can also let Sim 2 do the task

3- When Sim 1 is done, complete the objective in the first time

4- Wait for the objective to call the home store again and you can go to Sim 2 to complete it immediately!

What do you mean when you say a goal can be started early?

Any objective that you can normally achieve can be started early since you have access to it, and any objective that you cannot normally achieve will require you to wait until you reach the objective in order to be able to complete it

The tip with this method is to move the Sim doing this action to another house early on that you can’t go to until you achieve this goal or it won’t work

Does it matter if the banana bread burns? Will the goal still be completed?

The target will complete even if it causes a fire

I crafted the first set of woodworking items before I got the task. My game won’t meet the goal now. What should I do?

You must find the next 3 items in the second row to complete this objective

What do I get if I complete this quest within the time limit?

Yes, you must complete it to unlock the ability to add up to 5 floors to your houses, as well as unlock stairs and fire poles before proceeding to the next quest

I missed the time limit, can I restart the quest?

No, quests cannot be repeated

Can I still get the prize if I don’t meet the time limit?

No, the only way to get the limited time prizes is to complete the quest within the time limit
