1. I have never

This drinking game requires no special equipment – just a good memory and your favorite adult drink. (We recognize that these two things aren’t always compatible, but handle it.)

Have each player hold up five fingers. Take turns saying “I’ve never…” followed by something you’ve never done. Some examples might be: I’ve never skydived, I’ve never cursed at my grandma, or I’ve never pretended to be sick to get unemployed (Yes, right.)

After each person has said “Never have I ever” to them, each player who did the activity in question lowers one of their five fingers and takes a drink. The first player to press all five fingers is the loser. (Though, if you ask us, they win in life.)

In this drinking game you walk around the table. The first person will tell two truths and one lie about themselves. The next person tries to guess which is the lie. Write the name of a famous person on each post-it and stick a note on the back or forehead of each guest. (Note: the forehead is easier for other guests to read, but the back is better for bathroom breaks where guests may catch a glimpse of their forehead in the mirror.)

Guests walk around the room and talk to each other as if they were the famous person whose name appears on their sticky note. For example, if your Post-it says “Jennifer Aniston,” another guest might write a comment like “I loved you as Rachel.” To win this guessing game, you must correctly guess the name on your post-it note.

You can offer a prize for the first person to guess what their sticky note says, or you can keep playing until everyone guesses correctly, or both.

5. Murder Mystery

Each player has their own deck and first places the top four cards of their deck face up in a row in front of them. In the middle of the table there should be a lot of free space between the two players. (In fact, it’s best to play on the floor, as cards often fly once play begins.) Players hold the rest of their deck in one of their hands throughout play.

The game

There are no moves in this game, everyone plays at the same time. When both players are ready, one of them says “spit” and immediately each player takes the top card from their deck and plays it in the middle of the table. These first cards should be far apart, forming two decks between players. Players immediately start playing their cards from their layout to the middle piles. A card can only be played if it is one higher or one lower than the card on top of the deck. The suit of the card doesn’t matter, and an ace can be played high or low.

A player may only use one hand to move a card and may only play one card at a time. Often both players can play a card on the same deck. In this case, the player who gets there first gets the game and the other player must take back their card. This race to play the cards can get very exciting!

Cards played from the layout row can be immediately replaced with a new card from the top of the deck.

Players cannot have more than four cards in their layout rows.

Players continue to rapidly play cards into the middle and replace cards in their ranks until all players “get stuck” and can no longer play. Often several dozen cards can be played before all players get stuck. When all players are stuck, they say “Ready, spit” and again place new starter cards on top of each center pile. The game then continues as before.

How to keep points

When a player has played all of the cards in their deck, they must continue playing, using only the cards that are left in their layout (even if they don’t have a card to “spit” if all players get stuck). If that player “runs out” by playing the last card from their layout row, they win. If both players have used up their decks and are stuck before going out, the player with the fewest remaining cards wins.
