Re: Physical fitness

Jeff, while the course appears simple at first glance, it is based on a government standard. We cannot invent a course that is extremely difficult or extremely easy. When we shoot it, we strive to keep all rounds under the bottom of a Dunkin Donuts coffee cup, and usually bet one coffee per round. I’m not sure of your profession, but in the real world if the shot calls for a MOA shot then I probably won’t take it. If my margin of error is just an inch, which is just too tight, too many things can go wrong. You can save a thousand but meet a hostage and the only thing everyone will remember is the innocent person the cop shot.

History

Basic Police Sniper $665 The Police Sniper occupies an integral position within the tactical team structure. It offers real-time intelligence, protective surveillance, and the ability to resolve a critical incident with one well-placed shot. He represents the surgical arm of every special operations team and, like any other surgeon, needs specialized training to excel in his profession. This program provides a foundation and starting point for this training. This course covers observation and reporting, ballistics, marksmanship, field technique, movement, stalking, camouflage, use of force, policies and procedures, and relevant case studies.

NOTE: Students are advised to be in good physical condition prior to attending this course. One of the requirements of this course is passing the Sniper Functional Fitness Test. The test description and standards are available on request. Advanced Skills and Tactics $665 The Police Sniper must become and remain a student of his art, always striving to improve his knowledge and skills. Gone are the days when a cop can be handed a gun, taught how to bullseye, and be called a “gunman.” The true police sniper must be constantly challenged to learn and surpass their craft. He must master skills that prepare him mentally and physically for his field work. He must be exposed to new ideas, tactics and techniques. This course gives him access to all that and more. Here he will take the next step in his sniper training. Sniping is far more than just shooting.

NOTE: Students are advised to be in good physical condition prior to attending this course. One of the requirements of this course is passing the Sniper Functional Fitness Test. The test description and standards are available on request. SWAT/Sniper Supervisor Course $255 The police sniper is perhaps the most important and most abused element of the tactical team. The success or failure of the sniper program depends heavily on their command personnel. They are the people who make the crucial decisions about sniper selection, equipment, training, and deployment during critical incidents. However, they cannot be expected to make informed decisions without a thorough understanding of the police sniper, its function, needs, capabilities and limitations. This two-day course is designed to train the SWAT supervisor responsible for setting up and using a sniper program. It gives him the information he needs to make the program successful and effective. Content includes creating a program, writing policies, purchasing equipment, arranging and documenting training, current tactics, legal issues, media relations, and relevant case studies. Master Sniper Course $665 This five-day course is designed to cover specific topics that we can’t pay enough attention to in our other programs. Day One is the 8-hour Tactical Vision Program for Special Operations Teams. In addition to course material that focuses on unique case studies and legal issues, the course places a strong emphasis on weapon skills. We will cover in detail shooting at extended and unknown distances, shooting in low light, moving targets, arbitrary scenarios and a variety of strange but necessary shooting skills. The shots are all validated by documented police sniper operations. Due to the nature of this class structure, class size is limited. Registration is limited to experienced, working snipers only. You must have completed a basic sniper program prior to enrollment. Sniper In-Service Trainer Course $715 Knowledge is useless if it cannot be passed on effectively. This 40-hour course is designed to train the trainers and give snipers and team leaders the tools they need to design and deliver in-service sniper training to others. This is not a basic sniper course and students are expected to have the knowledge and skills required. This course is an intensive mix of classroom lectures, writing assignments, interactive group projects, and practice areas that fully immerse students in the learning and teaching process. Students will learn a variety of sniper teaching techniques as well as the underlying teaching principles. Students who successfully complete this course and meet the required prerequisites will earn certification as In-Service Police Sniper Trainers. POLICE SNIPER TRAINER COURSE PREREQUISITES All students applying for admission to the Police Sniper Trainer course must demonstrate the following at the time of enrollment: A minimum of three years of service as a police sniper

Letter from team leader authorizing participation

Successful completion of a basic police sniper course

A secondary sniper course (intermediate, advanced, or structured on duty)

State-recognized training certificate OR

Our Tactical Vision course has the following learning objectives: Make officers aware of the magnitude of the problem of perceptual blindness and how it affects their performance and safety. Teach officers the mechanics of sight. Introduce officers to the various components of perceptual blindness. Teach officers how to recognize their vision limitations and give them the training tools to overcome the problem. Teach officers how to incorporate their new visual skills into daily activities such as investigating, handling service calls, and conducting routine and pursuit drives. Tactical Vision is an 8-hour course that teaches law enforcement officers how to become “trained observers”. To complement classroom instruction, officers receive a proprietary CD with over 50 training exercises to complete at their leisure to develop and maintain their observational skills. The Tactical Vision program was originally developed for Special Operations Forces, but is highly recommended for all law enforcement officers. Class sizes and schedules can be customized to meet your department’s training needs. Contact Snipercraft, (863) 385-7835 to discuss details and pricing.
