MOVE AND SECURE

21 REMOVE TRANSPORT RAILS

WARNING: WHEN REMOVING THE SCREWS FROM THE SKIDS, ENSURE THAT A PERSON CAN HOLD THE SAFE AND STABILIZE IT TO PREVENT IT TIPPING UP AND CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE SAFE AND SURROUNDING STRUCTURES.

WARNING: BEFORE REMOVING THE TRANSPORT RAILS, ENSURE THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. YOUR SAFE DOOR IS HEAVY AND PRESENTS A SECURITY HAZARD UNTIL THE SAFE IS LATCHED OR PROPERLY SECURED.

1. When you receive your safe, you may find it attached to a shipping rack. The runner is secured from the bottom of the safe with four bolts. Using a wrench or 17mm (11/16″) socket wrench, remove the four screws securing the safe to the skids.

2. Have someone stabilize the safe, carefully tip the safe to the left and pull the transport rail off the bottom of the safe on the right.

3. With the shipping rail removed from one side of the safe, carefully lower the safe to the floor.

4. Follow the same procedure to remove the remaining shipping rail.

FOR SPORTS AFIELD MAXIMUM SECURITY SERIES SAFES (see page 8 for specific model

Counting)

1. When you receive your safe, you may find it attached to a shipping rack. The runner is secured from the inside of the safe by four tie bolts.

2. Open your gun vault door and locate and remove the four black caps on the vault floor. Use a wrench or 14mm (9/16″) socket to remove the four screws securing the safe to the skids. Reattach the four black caps.

3. Then close the door and extend the locking bolts by turning the handle counterclockwise. Make sure the door is properly latched before proceeding.

4. With assistance, slide the safe to one side of the pallet so that the safe extends over the back edge of the pallet. Carefully tip the safe over until the bottom of the safe touches the ground. Then tilt the safe a little more to allow the pallet underneath the safe to be removed.

5. Carefully lower the safe back down.

16

22 TRANSPORTING YOUR SAFE

WARNING: SAFES ARE VERY HEAVY AND UNCOMPLICATED TO HANDLE. PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN TRANSPORTING THE SAFE. THE USE OF A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL WITH THE PROPER MOVING EQUIPMENT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Gun safe location is very important and extreme care should be taken in this consideration.

1. To maximize the fire protection of your safe, we recommend placing the safe on lower levels in your home where fire temperatures are lower and away from easily combustible materials.

2. To maximize burglary protection and stability, it is recommended that the safe be fixed to the floor.

3. To maximize household security, we recommend placing your safe in a secluded location out of the reach and sight of children.

Move the safe to the desired location using a transport cart that can support the size and weight of your safe. Please take all necessary precautions to protect your flooring and prevent damage.

HELPFUL: TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOUR SAFE CAN GET THROUGH DOORS, STAIRS OR CORNERS, TAKE THE EMPTY SAFE BOX AND CHECK THAT IT WILL FIT INTO ITS FINAL PLACE.

1. The safe should be installed next to a side panel with minimal space on either side of the safe. The safe should lie as flat as possible against the wall and floor. If necessary, remove the baseboard and/or wall paneling.

2. Proximity and location of electrical outlets should be considered when installing powered gun cabinets.

3. Always make sure the safe is in an isolated and dry area. Never place the safe in direct contact with a wet floor. When installing your safe on a concrete floor, the use of a moisture/protective barrier is highly recommended. Otherwise, or if the safe is exposed to chemicals or other adverse environments, the warranty may be void.

4. If your safe appears uneven, you may need to chock the bottom of the safe to prevent the door from swinging open too quickly or closing itself.

17

23 SECURE YOUR SAFE

WARNING: YOUR SAFE IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT ITSELF WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. HOWEVER, CAUTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID TIPPING AND SAFETY HAZARDS. THE SAFE MUST BE FIXED TO THE FLOOR. Otherwise, the security and protection of the safe will be affected.

FOR SPORTS AFIELD HAVEN, PRESEVER, TAC LZ, JOURENY & SANCTUARY SERIES SAFES (see pages 7 & 8 for specific model numbers)

TOOLS REQUIRED TO SECURELY BOLT ONTO A CONCRETE SURFACE DRILL / HAMMER DRILL 1/2″ DRILL (for installing in concrete with hardware provided) WRENCH / 11/16″ (17MM) HAMMER

1. Use the hardware provided or consult your hardware vendor for mounting hardware for your specific mounting surface.

2. Open your gun vault door and locate and remove the four black caps on the vault floor. This will give you access to the factory drilled screw holes.

3. To attach your safe to the floor, you must first drill holes in the floor surface.

4. Drill the appropriate diameter and depth of pilot holes based on the type of hardware being used and the type of floor surface. For the supplied hardware (concrete floor mounting), we recommend drilling the four appropriate holes in the concrete floor with a rotary hammer and a 1/2″ concrete drill bit.

5. Insert the plastic anchor bolts and drive them into the pilot holes. You may need to use a hammer to fully seat the plugs into the pilot holes.

6. Secure the safe by threading and tightening all 4 anchor bolts through the factory drilled screw holes in the bottom of the safe. Make sure that the metal washer sits on the rubber washer. Tighten the screw to compress the rubber washer between the safe and the metal washer. Otherwise, in the event of a flood, water may enter the safe. USE AND MAINTENANCE

24 LOADING YOUR SAFE

1. When loading guns into your safe, make sure they fit securely into the recesses in the gun racks to prevent accidental tipping when the door is closed.

2. Store documents or heat-sensitive items in the bottom of the safe for maximum protection against fire damage.

3. Store ammo separately from valuables. 4. Don’t put anything in your safe that puts pressure on the door when it’s open

is closed. 5. Select safe models have reinforced shelves but as a good security precaution

Store heavier items either on the vault floor or away from the center of the shelves.

25 KEEP SAFE DRY

We recommend placing a moisture/protective barrier between your safe and the concrete floor to prevent moisture, mold and rust from damaging the safe. It is highly recommended that you place your safe in a location with air conditioning (heating in winter and cooling in summer). In areas with high humidity or frequent temperature fluctuations (garages), it is advisable to take appropriate precautions to protect against moisture damage. We strongly recommend using an internal dehumidifier and/or desiccant to protect your contents from rust or mold. Indoor dehumidifiers should not make direct contact with the side or back walls.

26 HINGES AND INTERNAL MECHANISM

The hinges and the internal locking mechanism are permanently lubricated and therefore maintenance-free. Opening your safe’s door panel may void your warranty. Always contact our customer service experts beforehand.

27 LOCKING SCREWS

Occasionally it may be necessary to lubricate the active locking pins. To do this, pull out the locking bolts completely when the door is open. Wipe a small amount of oil/lubricant around each locking pin.

28 CLEANING

Clean the surface of your safe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth (we recommend lint-free polishing cloths). DO NOT use paper towels as they could scratch, mar or damage the finish of your safe.

Water is often sufficient to clean the surface of your safe, but an ammonia-free window cleaner can also be used. DO NOT use metal polishes or solvents when cleaning.

9 17 TRANSPORTING YOUR SAFE WARNING: SAFES ARE VERY HEAVY AND EASY TO HANDLE. 4. Move the safe to the desired location using a dolly that can support the size and weight of your safe. 18 SECURING YOUR SAFE WARNING: YOUR SAFE IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT ITSELF WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. HOWEVER, CAUTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID TIPPING AND SAFETY HAZARDS. THE SAFE MUST BE FIXED TO THE FLOOR. Otherwise, the security and protection of the safe will be affected. FOR SPORTS AFIELD HAVEN, PSERVE, TAC LZ, JOURNEY & SANCTUARY SERIES SAFES (see pages 7 & 8 for specific model numbers) TOOLS REQUIRED TO BOLT SAFE TO CONCRETE SURFACE DRILL/HAMMER DRILL 1/2 DRILL (for installing in concrete with (hardware supplied ) WRENCH / 11/16 (17MM) HAMMER 1. Use the hardware provided or consult your dealer for hardware for your specific mounting surface 2. Open your gun safe door and locate and remove the four black caps on the safe floor. This will give you access to the factory drilled screw holes 3. To mount your safe to the floor you will first need to drill holes in the floor surface 4. Drill the appropriate diameter and depth of pilot holes based on the type of hardware being used and the type of floor surface For the supplied hardware (concrete floor mounting) we recommend using a hammer drill and a 1/2 concrete drill to drill the four corresponding holes in the concrete floor. Journey Series safes do not include rubber washers. 7. Put the four black caps back on the safe floor. SPORTS AFIELD MAXIMUM SECURITY SERIES SAFES (see page 8 for specific model numbers) ship without hardware. Contact your local hardware store for mounting hardware specific to your mounting surface and location. Follow the same steps as above to adjust the drill diameter and pilot hole depth based on the fastener material selected

10 USE AND MAINTENANCE 19 LOADING YOUR SAFE 1. When loading guns into your safe, make sure they are seated securely against the notches in the gun racks to prevent accidental tipping when the door is closed. 2. Store documents or heat-sensitive items in the bottom of the safe for maximum protection against fire damage. 3. Store ammo separately from valuables. 4. Don’t put anything in your safe that puts pressure on the door when you close it. 5. Select safe models have reinforced shelves, but as a good security precaution, store heavier items either on the bottom of the safe or away from the center of the shelves. 20 KEEPING THE SAFE DRY We recommend installing a moisture/protective barrier between your safe and the concrete floor to prevent moisture, mold and rust from damaging the safe. 22 LOCKING PINS Occasionally it may be necessary to lubricate the active locking pins. To do this, pull out the locking bolts completely when the door is open. Wipe a small amount of oil/lubricant around each locking pin. 23 CLEANING To clean the surface of your safe, use a soft, non-abrasive cloth (we recommend lint-free polishing cloths). DO NOT use paper towels as they could scratch, mar or damage the finish of your safe. Water is often sufficient to clean the surface of your safe, but an ammonia-free window cleaner can also be used. DO NOT use metal polishes or solvents when cleaning. 24 HOW TO OBTAIN LOST KEYS To request replacement keys, please contact our Customer Services team on the number below.
