Prayer of Thanksgiving to God, the Holy Spirit

Thanksgiving to God the Holy Spirit

Scripture reading:

Psalm 113, Romans 8:1-17

Written prayer:

Heavenly Father, praise be to Thy glorious name, which is above all blessings and praise. You alone are the triune God; You made the sky and the skies and all the stars. You made the earth, the seas and everything in it. The angels of heaven worship you. You are a great god. Lord, as a church family, we thank you for being such a loving God. Thank you for redeeming us and reconciling us to you through your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to comfort, strengthen and guide us here on earth. Holy Spirit, we are grateful to You for Your manifest presence in our lives.

Father, as a church family, we thank you for sealing us with the promise of your Holy Spirit. We are grateful that the same power (Holy Spirit) that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is now at work in us to do Your good will and pleasure. Holy Spirit, we thank you that you are our helper and that you live in us forever. Thank you for teaching us and reminding us of everything that God our Father said. Thank you for guiding us and leading us into all truth. Thank you for freeing us from the bondage of our carnal desires; for to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Holy Spirit, thank you for producing in us the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control as we walk in you. Holy Spirit, through you we have the power to love unconditionally; power to perform miracles and healing; and the power to cast out demons. Because of you, we can do anything through Jesus Christ.

What areas of your life are you still trying to control? Write down these areas and now ask the Holy Spirit for help in these areas:

Holy Spirit, we ask you to teach us how to honor God the Father in true holiness. Enable us to receive the truth of the Word. Please give us a full insight into the ways and purposes of the Father’s will so that we may live our lives in a manner worthy of Christ. Help us to walk each day in a spirit of humility, thinking of others more than ourselves. Finally, teach us to love and honor you.

Father, forgive us if we have grieved your spirit from time to time. Forgive us from sinful acts such as: pride, rebellion, disobedience, selfishness, hatred, stealing, lying, homosexuality, adultery, fornication and idolatry. Forgive those of us who have not worshiped you in spirit and truth. Forgive those who speak of the Holy Spirit, but do not allow Him to work in them. Forgive those who know Jesus as Savior and deny Your power with a form of godliness. Lord, remind us all of the persons we must forgive; and please help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Blessed are you, the only ruler, the king of kings and lord of lords. You alone have immortality and dwell in the light that no man can approach. You, O God, deserve eternal honor and power. You only held the oceans in your hand. You measured the sky with your fingers. You know the weight of the earth and weigh the mountains and hills on a scale. We bless and honor you, in Jesus name, amen.

31 Days: Day 4- Thanking God For His Holy Spirit — Susan K Macias

The last recorded words of Jesus to his disciples on earth promise the power of the Holy Spirit to bear witness of Jesus to the world. I don’t have to be brave or smart enough on my own to be a Witness—the Spirit empowers me!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 ESV)

The Spirit takes me out of the spirit of slavery and fear and into the spirit of adoption so I can call God Abba and experience acceptance and safety. Because of the confirmation of the Holy Spirit in my heart, I know that I am a child of my Heavenly Father.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back in fear, but you received the spirit of adoption as sons, through which we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:14-16 ESV)

I often feel underwhelmed by the demands of life, but the Holy Ghost strengthens my heart and grounds me in love.

so that according to the riches of his glory he may strengthen you by his Spirit within you, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that you may be rooted and grounded in love. (Ephesians 3:16-17 ESV)

I easily succumb to worry and anger, but the Spirit’s promise is that if I fix my thoughts upon Him, I will find life and peace. What kind of promise!

…the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, (Romans 8:6b NASB)

Not only is the Spirit helping me where I’m weak (and boy do I need help!), but he’s actually praying for me. He intercedes for me and prays according to the will of God.

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for, as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with a sigh too deep for words. And those who search hearts know what the mind of the Spirit is, for the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27 ESV)

The Spirit gives every believer a spiritual gift. I have a gift that I can minister with if I will use it. His presence will bring spiritual fruition to me as well, if I let his presence in my heart run free. Spirit makes all of this available to me, but I must participate and use what it offers.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; there is no law against such things. (Galatians 5:22-23 NASB)

But each is given the manifestation of the spirit for the common good. (1 Corinthians 12:7 NASB)

Since each has received a special gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the manifold graces of God. (1 Peter 4:10 NASB)

I have so much to thank the Lord for regarding the Holy Spirit. The gifts, fruits, strength and peace that he brings radically change my life. The spirit marks me too. In the most beautiful way, I no longer belong to myself or the world. I belong to Jesus.

Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Let’s thank the Lord today for His amazing ministry of the Holy Spirit. What God wants to achieve in our lives through the Holy Spirit is transformative. But here are some questions to ask. Am I constantly submitting to the Lord to be filled with the Spirit? Or am I dragging myself along in this world on my own?

After thanking the Lord, let’s stop and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit instead of being filled with the cares of the world. What a difference that would make!

Prayer for Thanking the Father for the Holy Spirit

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending me your Holy Spirit to comfort me and guide me into all truths.

It is the Holy Spirit who reminds me of Your words, Your commandments and Your goodness and enables me to walk in love and obedience. Thank you for sealing me with your spirit as an assurance that I am your child and that you will never leave me or will leave me. It is Your Holy Spirit that fills me with the love of the Father, that I may grow in wisdom and knowledge of God’s love, become love and be a blessing to the world. Thank You Father for securing me in Your love, guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit. I am grateful and blessed that your spirit dwells within me and my greatest desire is to always be in fellowship with you and experience your wonderful presence, God, in Jesus name. Amen.
