How and when to say thank you

When you are looking for a job, you have many different opportunities to say thank you to those who support you and to potential employers. In the workplace, timely recognition is a great way to recognize those who have taken the time to help you.

Types of thank you notes

Acknowledgments can be handwritten, typed, or emailed, depending on preference and circumstances. For example, thanking someone for acting as a reference for you, making a recommendation, or letting you follow them while they work doesn’t need to be as quick as saying thank you at an interview for a job in the hiring process expires to advance quickly, which requires you to say thank you right after your interview.

If the job you’re applying for isn’t an immediate hire, a handwritten thank you note can help you stand out from the competition.

A handwritten note will give the reader a tangible reminder of your appreciation. A small business or colleague might appreciate a handwritten note, while a corporate contact likely expects and prefers email.

A typed letter is a formal way to show your appreciation and a way to document the details of your writing. In the workplace, letters of appreciation may be included in an employee’s personnel file.

If time is not of the essence, consider sending a handwritten card or note.

When to send a thank you message

The timing is almost as important as what you say. An email makes an immediate impression. This is crucial when you are applying for a job, especially in a medium to large company. An interview thank you letter should be sent within 24 hours of the interview.

Other types of thank you correspondence don’t require you to write them right away, but don’t wait too long. It’s important to pass on your thanks while they’re still relevant to you and the recipient.

Helpful Tip: Let your relationship be your guide when deciding to write a light-hearted message. If humor is part of your everyday communication with the graduate, feel free to be funny when signing the card.

graduation in difficult times

Graduation is meant to be a time of joy, but sometimes life has other ideas. Here are some message ideas for when difficult personal, family, or general circumstances make it impossible to celebrate in the way you and the graduate would have hoped. If the start is canceled “Obviously we’re disappointed that we won’t be able to see you walk across the stage like we’ve always dreamed of – but that just means we’ll celebrate you even bigger once we get the chance! ”

“Even if the degree will look different for you, the achievement is still the same. They put in the same hard work. You have learned and grown so much. And I couldn’t be prouder.”

“We’re sorry you had to let go of the graduation ceremony and celebration you’ve been looking forward to for the last four years. We wish it could have been different but we want you to know that we are still so proud of you and what you have achieved.”

“It will take more than one canceled graduation to stop me from blowing an air horn in your honor. Keep it up, Grad!”

“You are still celebrated for this amazing achievement.”

“Aunque por el momento no podemos celebrar tu graduación, celebramos con orgullo tu logro.” If the graduate has problems “Congratulations on your graduation. I wish it could have happened at a happier time for you, but I hope it helps to know how much you are loved and how proud you have made all of us who care for you.”

“You may not feel like celebrating your graduation, but we hope you feel the pride, care and well-wishes that are surrounding you right now.”

“This isn’t how I envisioned your graduation, but you truly are the strong, resilient person I’ve always envisioned. Whenever you are not feeling strong, please know that you can lean on me.”

“As you graduate, you will be in all my proudest and happiest thoughts…and also in my most caring, heartfelt prayers.”

“Sé que ahorita estás pasando por un mal momento, pero quiero que sepas que eres una persona que inspira a todos a su alrededor, y que se te desea todo lo mejor en tu graduación y siempre.” When the future feels uncertain “You I’m graduating at a difficult time, but I firmly believe that better days will come. It may take time, but I hope you can persevere and keep believing.”

“One day you’re going to look back and think, Wow, I graduated at the strangest time ever… Until then, we’ll be there for you, cheering you on, excited for where life takes you next, and so proud of.” be you.”

“Graduation cards are meant to wish you a bright future, but for now I’m all for taking things one day at a time. I hope you can too. Today especially, I hope you can just enjoy all the pride and well wishes that are coming your way.”

“I pray for you as you graduate—for pride today, hope for tomorrow, and that love and support will always be with you.”

“Your talent is still your talent. Your hard work is still your hard work. Your dreams are still your dreams. You will help turn the world upside down again. Because you’re still amazing.”

“Hard work, talent, drive and vision will always outlast tough times. That’s how I know you’re going to make the world the way you want it to be.”

“Recuerda que Dios está contigo hoy que te gradúas y siempre. Él te guiará y te acompañará a cada paso.”

Helpful Tip: It’s okay to be honest in difficult circumstances. If you were actually going to say, “That sucks,” write “That sucks.” But don’t leave it at that. From there, try to take your message in a more hopeful, caring direction.

when you will be there

If you’re attending the graduation ceremony or the celebration that follows, you can focus your message on the pride and fun of witnessing the graduate’s big day. Casual “Congratulations, Jamal. It means so much to be a part of your graduation day!”

“WOO-HOO! We look forward to celebrating your graduation with you!”

“First I see you walking across the stage. Then there’s a party? Brilliant!”

“Your whole village is stamping their feet and screaming your name right now, Kendrick.”

“¡Qué alegría poder ser parte de tu graduación!” More formal “So happy we could be here to see you graduate with honors. It is an honor to be part of such an important day.”

“It is my great privilege to know you… to think of all that you have accomplished… and to be with you on your graduation day.”

“You will always remember this day and so will all of us who cheered for you here. Good luck to you always!”

“¡Muchas felicidades! It’s a privilege for acompañarte in tu graduación.”

Helpful Tip: If you know something about the graduate that’s worth celebrating (graduation with honors, first in the family, job opportunity awaiting, etc.), be sure to include that in your message.

If you fail

Even if you don’t make it to the graduation ceremony or reception, you can still make your presence felt by letting the graduate know that you are with them in spirit. Casual “Congratulations on graduating from high school, Tyler! I wish we could be there to see it.”

“I wish I could be at your graduation to hug you and tell you personally how proud I am of you.”

“Although we will miss seeing you in your hat and dress, we would never miss this opportunity to tell you that we are proud of you.”

“I feel a scream! You can probably hear me from here. Congratulations, Grad!” More formal “We send warm thoughts and big congratulations to a graduate of whom we are so very proud.”

“Thinking of you with love and pride on your graduation day.”

“Our warmest thoughts and highest hopes are with you as you celebrate your graduation.”

“Ojalá pudiera estar en tu graduación para decirte en persona que mi corazón está lleno de un orgullo inmenso port ti.”

Writing Tip: If you can’t be there in person, you don’t need to include an apology in your personal message. Just sending the card lets the graduate know that you are thinking of him or her.

Give advice

Graduation is a good time for the kind of advice that’s more about building people up than bossing them around. Keep your advice general, upbeat, and encouraging, and it will be appreciated. More Casual “Always remember, there’s no limit to what you can do as long as you keep believing in yourself.”

“Take pictures. Take time to celebrate. Take it easy for a while. Then get ready to take on the world!”

“It took a lot of hard work to achieve this goal. You had to show up every day whether you wanted to or not. I hope you feel great about what you have achieved and I hope you continue to be a person who rises up to the things worthwhile and important in life, day in and day out.”

“Graduation is like a bridge to the next part of your life, and everything that got you here – hard work, drive and confidence – will carry you into the future you deserve.”

“Para alguien como tú ningún sueño es imposible de cumplir. Eres muy especial y tu determinación te llevará muy lejos.” More formally, “May you always dare to do great things with your life.”

“Growth further. Keep adding to the good and beautiful in the world. Keep developing those unique dreams and talents that make you who you are!”

“When I graduated, our graduate speaker urged us to learn for life and that is my advice to you as you graduate. Whatever you do, never stop learning, exploring, growing and challenging yourself to do your best.”

“Sigue esforzándote para alcanzar todas tus metas. Tu graduación es solo el comienzo de un future lleno de posibilidades.”

Writing tip: What is the best life advice you have ever received? Or what is the most important thing you have learned so far? Answering any of these questions could be the perfect introduction to a meaningful closing message.

For a family member

When a family member graduates—whether it’s your sibling, child, niece or nephew, cousin, or even your parents—you might want to add an extra level of warmth and pride. Casual “Your graduation day is a proud day for you and a dream come true for our family.”

“Congratulations on graduating summa cum laude! I am extremely proud to be related to someone so smart.”

“You know what makes your degree extra special? It’s watching you grow up, having so many good memories of you and knowing all the challenges you’ve overcome to date.”

“Tu graduación es un día de orgullo para toda la familia, ¡así que vamos a celebrar!” Formal “Congratulations, with love for the grandson that you are and with pride in the amazing person you are becoming.”

“It seems like just yesterday you were a kid starting high school… now you’re a confident young man about to graduate. It has been our pleasure to see how you have grown and achieved so much over the past four years. I hope you know how proud we are and how much we love you.”

“It’s a beautiful thing to watch the daughter we’ve always loved grow up and take a step closer to her dreams. Congratulations, with all our love,”

“Es maravilloso verte crecer y alcanzar tus metas. Te queremos mucho y estamos muy orgullosos de ti.”

Helpful Tip: It’s probably most natural to share a memory of the graduate, but you could also share a memory of your own life experiences or your degree—anything that would be relevant to the graduate and is fun or meaningful to him or her .

15 Best Ways to Say

Many of us are afraid to express our gratitude to others. We might fear that our efforts will be misinterpreted or that the person on the receiving end will feel uncomfortable. Or we struggle to find the right words to express how we feel. Here’s how to do it right.

We all want to be appreciated. Whether you’ve accepted a task while your plate is already full, worked through weekends to get a project off the ground, or were simply there for a co-worker when they needed your support, an affirmation or a “thank you” can do a lot ways to make us feel good about the effort we’re putting in – and research supports this.

A recent study by McKinsey & Company found that while most employers believe the large number of people who quit their jobs this year were looking for better pay, most left because they felt unappreciated and had no sense of belonging to the work. Another study found that not only do we feel respected when we receive more recognition from our peers and bosses, but we are also associated with better performance.

The many benefits of gratitude can be explained by the feel-good chemicals released in our brain when we express or receive it. Dopamine and serotonin are two neurotransmitters responsible for instantly elevating our mood. If we say thank you or experience it every day, we strengthen these neural pathways.

The problem is that many of us are afraid to express our gratitude to others. I have seen this time and time again through my work training leaders in the art of recognition and engagement. Some people want to express appreciation more often, but are afraid that their efforts will be misinterpreted or make the recipient uncomfortable. Others struggle to find the right words to express their feelings, or worry that their remarks will be seen as a kiss or a cover-up of a hidden agenda.

While these fears are valid, they can also keep us from experiencing the long list of rewards that gratitude has to offer. One method I’ve found useful for overcoming it is to start small, with a simple thank you message. There are a few simple rules you can follow to ensure your efforts are taken seriously (and not misinterpreted negatively).

Rules for creating a meaningful thank you note

Stay authentic.

The goal of expressing appreciation is to let someone know how their actions have affected you and/or others. If you have a different agenda, your message is not authentic. Still, you have to be thoughtful with your words if you want to come across as authentic.

Set the context.

If you’ve ever been surprised by a compliment, you know it can feel good — and upsetting at the same time. This is because you are trying to take in the other person’s words while also interpreting their intentions, especially if the compliment is late or catches you off guard.

As the person thanking you, you can reassure the recipient by first sharing the context of your message (or what prompted you to reach out to them).

Examples:

I was thinking about our last project over the weekend and realized I never said thank you.

We’ve been so busy lately that I realized I didn’t take the time to express my appreciation for all of your great work.

I was reading an article on HBR about expressing appreciation and I thought of you.

Share what you appreciate and why.

Next, focus on the impact their actions had on you. It can be as simple as bringing a smile to your face on a tough day, or as big as supporting you through a difficult time. Be specific and explain what you value and why. By doing this, you help the other person understand why you feel the way you do.

Example 1:

What you value:

As you know, the last year has been extremely tough for me. I tried to work from home and take care of my parents at the same time. No matter how busy we were, you took time out at each meeting to ask about my parents and how I was doing.

Why You Appreciate It:

I know you are exactly like that, but your check-ins have always made me feel better and helped me get through the last year.

Example 2:

What you value:

The other day I felt completely overwhelmed and alone trying to finish the report for the client meeting. I know it might have been easy for you, but when you reached out and offered to help format the final document, it made a world of difference.

Why You Appreciate It:

Lots of people offer support but few actually acted on their words and I cannot express how much your support helped me get the job done and made me feel like a part of the team.

Example 3:

What you value:

I know it took courage for you to give me honest feedback after my last presentation. I want you to know that I really appreciate you doing this.

Why You Appreciate It:

I always ask for feedback, but people rarely say more than, “You did great.” Their feedback helped me rethink my presentation and gave me specific things to work on. That’s what I needed to improve.

Close the message.

With the heart of the message in place, it’s time to wrap up the thank you note. You can do this with a simple, no-nonsense “thank you” or a more detailed opt-out.

Examples:

Thank you again, I really appreciate working with you.

While I may not always say it, I appreciate everything you do.

Thank you again for your support, it has really made a difference for me.

Thank you for everything you do.

Thanks very much!

Send it.

Emails are lost and handwritten cards are saved. Therefore, write your message on a piece of paper, a post-it note, or a card and give it directly to the person. When you’re at work, leave it on your desk or in your “mailbox”. If you won’t see them for a while, take a picture of your message and send the person the picture, or better yet, send the card to them.

Sending a handwritten message is important because it gives the other person a chance to take in your appreciation without feeling the pressure to respond immediately. If you know that praise can make the person uncomfortable, take the pressure off of responding by saying something like, “Please don’t feel compelled to respond. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate working with you.”

Ways to make your “thank you” meaningful

If you’re thinking about what to say when saying “thank you” to your co-workers, here are some sample messages from common workplace scenarios:

1) Your colleague filled in when you had to take time off.

Hello Kevin,

I have just returned from some much needed time with my family. I wanted to thank you for standing up and covering for me when I was gone. I know you have a lot on your plate already and that you have taken over my workload means a lot to me. I just want you to know that I really appreciate what you’ve done.

Thanks very much!

2) Someone did something really nice for you. (I sent you a care package, threw you a birthday party, gave you notes from a meeting that wasn’t recorded, or called to let you know if you weren’t feeling well.)

Hello Maria,

I just received the care package you sent and wanted to say thank you. As you know, the work has been brutal over the past few weeks and getting the package in the mail today made my day. Thank you for everything you do to make us feel cared for at work. It makes a big difference!

3) Someone lobbied to get you a raise or promotion.

Hello Kira,

I heard from Aya that you suggested my name for a promotion and I wanted to say thank you. Whether I get it or not, I’m honored that you thought of me for the position and I can’t thank you enough for all the time you’ve put into helping me, over the last few years to grow. I feel very fortunate to be able to learn from you as a leader and appreciate everything you have done for me.

Many Thanks.

4) Your team members have been working overtime to complete some challenging projects.

Hello Jose,

We’ve been so busy lately that I realized I didn’t take the time to express my appreciation. I know the workload has been very heavy for the last few weeks as we try to complete our big project. They have worked hard, put in overtime and done so many things behind the scenes to make this happen. I appreciate everything you do and love having you on our team. We could not do this great work without your invaluable contributions.

5) Your boss gave you an opportunity to lead a high-profile meeting.

Hello Mohammed,

I was thinking about last week’s presentation over the weekend and wanted to say thank you.

I know this was a very large account and you took a risk by letting me lead it. I really appreciate what you did. I shared that I wanted to get more attention in our last one-on-one and it means a lot that you took that seriously and acted on it. I know not all managers do this and I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with you.

6) A team member received difficult feedback and took appropriate action.

Hello Ira,

I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate how much you’ve worked on the things we’ve talked about. Getting challenging feedback is never easy, and many people get defensive and never do anything about it.

In the last two months I have seen how you have really changed the way you work with others. I’ve seen you ask more questions in meetings, solicit input from others, and put your recommendations into practice. As a result, I have seen your work and the team’s work improve for the better.

I just want you to know that I see the difference and appreciate everything you do to grow. Keep it up, it’s inspiring!

7) It was just great to work with someone.

Hello Vlad,

I was laughing hysterically after the last message you sent on Slack and just wanted to let you know that you are great to work with. I know you are just like that, but the fact that you find something to laugh or smile during these trying times always brightens my day. One thing that really impresses me is your ability to dig from jokes and get work done. I hope this note brightens your day the way you (and others) regularly brighten mine!

So go ahead and write that thank you letter. Not only will it make you happy, but the person who receives it will have a great day.

Every day we are inundated with reasons to thank the people around us. Maybe someone held the elevator for you when you were running late, the barista was nice despite the crowd in the cafe, or your colleague lets you know they did the legwork to help you start a particularly tricky project .

We’re fortunate to have so many reasons to say “thank you” each day, but sometimes we need a few new words and phrases to adequately express the gratitude we feel. If you’re stuck in a rut of “thank you” and “thank you very much,” here are 25 alternatives that are perfect for sharing your thanks and appreciation in any type of setting.

1. I am so grateful.

Thank you is an expression of gratitude, so to the point. Tell someone you’re grateful for the way they’ve helped you and detail what they’ve done to personalize your message.

2. I appreciate it.

It’s always nice to feel valued. When someone does something to help you or make your life easier, be sure to say how much it means to you that they went out of their way to help you.

3. Thank you for your hard work.

Don’t just give colleagues and employees a run-of-the-mill thank you. Telling them how much you appreciate the special effort they’ve put in will make them feel seen and build a positive working relationship.

4. I couldn’t have done it without you.

If you couldn’t have accomplished something without someone else’s help, then it’s important that you know it! Don’t hesitate to tell them how important they are.

5. I owe you.

Sometimes the only way to truly appreciate a favor is to return it. This “thank you” alternative lets them know that’s exactly what you intend to do.

6. Very committed.

Obliged means “appreciative or grateful”. It’s especially handy for a quick but polite email or text unsubscribe that still says thank you in a meaningful way.

7. Thank you for having my back.

Sometimes the best thing someone else can do for you is to be in your corner when you need support. Thanking them for being there is one way to let them know how much it means to you.

8. Please accept my deepest gratitude.

Thank you in a more formal setting? This is perfect for a professional letter, an important speech, or in a thank you note.

Here are some other ways to express your gratitude.

9. I must give credit where it is due.

Let’s face it: we all love to be recognized for the good things we do. Credit is “recommendation or recognition for an action, quality, etc.” When we thank someone, we are giving them the credit they deserve for something they have done, and it is a gesture we should do often.

10. That was such a blessing.

We tend to think of a blessing as a favor or gift bestowed by God, but a blessing can also be “a special favor, mercy, or benefit.” Telling someone that their kind gesture or effort was a blessing is one way to let them know that you are grateful for the gift of their time, energy, and thoughtfulness.

11. I can’t thank you enough.

Sometimes a simple “thank you” is not enough. In such cases, let them know that the words may not be enough, but the depth of your gratitude is not.

12. Cheers.

Cheers isn’t just something we say when we toast. It’s also a unique and quick way to say thank you. Try it out next time you’re at a party or other social event where a light-hearted expression of gratitude is needed.

Grab your pen and use these tips to write a meaningful thank you card.

13. That’s so nice of you.

One way to thank someone is to tell them how their gesture made you feel: kind. By telling someone how nice they have been, you let them know that you see their favor comes from the heart.

14. Much appreciated.

If you need to say thank you in a big but small way, choose “much appreciated”. This one is perfect for a quick email, text, or even a quick chat.

15. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

When people make an effort to do something nice or to help, they also give away their time. We only get so much of it, so thank them for devoting some of their time to making your life easier.

16. Your support means the world.

Support means “carrying or holding (a load, mass, structure, part, etc.); serve as a foundation.” The people who do this for us deserve to know how much we appreciate it.

17. Thank you.

A thank you? We don’t think. If you send out a quick email, text, or phone call to say thank you, let them know that your gratitude could be expressed many times.

18. I am exceedingly grateful.

Go big or go home. Grateful means “heartily or deeply grateful for any kindness or benefit received; grateful.” And sometimes, well, you just feel all of that and beyond.

19. I sincerely greet you.

A real “thank you” should be sincere. That means “genuine; real.” The best expressions of gratitude are usually those that come from the heart.

20. I am forever in debt.

Sometimes one act of kindness inspires the other. Indebted means “obliged for favors or kindnesses received,” and it’s a way of saying you intend to pay up front for the kind deed.

21. I stand in recognition.

Giving thanks means emphasizing someone’s thoughtfulness, kindness, hard work, caring, or effort. Creating space to explicitly acknowledge their efforts is a powerful way of saying thank you.

22. I am overwhelmed by your kindness.

When something blew your mind, it usually means it was unexpectedly inspirational, moving, or touching. Use these for gestures and kind gestures that really make a difference.

Stun others with your treasure trove of friendly synonyms by learning them here.

23. It means the world to me.

It’s not always easy to explain how important or valuable someone’s contributions are. Saying “it means the world” is a pretty good start.

24. I want to acknowledge how much you have done.

Sometimes the “thank you” people crave is just knowing that their efforts won’t go unnoticed. Whether it’s a colleague, friend, or partner, appreciation is always a welcome expression of gratitude.

25. Thank you in advance.

It’s possible to thank people even before they’ve done you a favor. If someone offers you a future kindness or promises to make every effort for you, before they even lift a finger, let them know that they are appreciated by giving thanks beforehand.

15 Best Ways to Say

Many people underestimate the power of a simple handwritten thank you card. Nowadays it seems easy to send an email, a text message or a call quickly. They’re all doing their jobs, right?

But a handwritten thank you note says more. It says that you made every effort to sit down and write to those who did something for you. A handwritten thank you letter conveys thoughtfulness and sincerity and is the perfect way to express gratitude to someone and for any occasion.

People often don’t know what to write in a thank you card. But no matter how difficult it may seem to get started once you remember these simple step-by-step instructions; You’ll be a pro at writing your own thank you notes.

Jump to:

Step by step thank you letter wording:

When writing your thank you notes, use the guide below to make sure you don’t leave anything out.

Start with a greeting

Open your card with a greeting to the recipient. “Dear” is a standard salutation commonly used for notes and cards, or you can choose to use just the recipient’s name. One thing to make sure is that you use the correct form and spelling of the person’s name and other people’s names that you may use in your thank you message. Examples of thank yous are:

Dear Aunt Rose and Uncle Joe,

Aunt Rose and Uncle Joe,

To my Aunt Rose and Uncle Joe,

How to say thank you: Thank you letter

Next you have the opportunity to say the two most important words of the card – Thank you. Although it seems like two short words, there are many different ways to say thank you. Just consider who you’re speaking to and your personal style when deciding how to say thank you. Examples of how to express thanks include:

Thank you for…

Thank you so much…

I would like to thank you very much for…

I appreciate that you…

Thank you it made my day when…

I can’t get over how grateful I am for…

I wanted to say a big thank you for…

Talk about specifics

In order for each thank you to be unique, it is important that you add specific details to your thank you. What exactly are you thanking this person for? There are many occasions that deserve special thanks. Did they do something extra, something that made you feel special? If so, include that in the note. People love to feel valued. Also, they may not even know they’ve made a special impression on you until you say thank you. If they gave you a gift, now would be a good time to describe how you will use it. If they threw you a party, tell them what your favorite part was. Examples of adding details are:

I can’t wait to use my graduation money to buy my new laptop for school.

I was so surprised to see all my friends and family at my party, that day made me feel so special.

Here is a picture of me with my new dorms. Are not they cute?

mention her

Next time, mention that you might see her, ask about something that’s going on in her life, or just let her know you’re thinking of her. Examples of looking ahead are:

I know Samantha had a big game coming up, I hope it went well.

I always think of you guys thanks to the wall calendar you sent and can’t wait to see you next.

We look forward to seeing you all again on Thanksgiving, and now you better start saving room for cake.

say thank you again

Now, as you begin to close your thank you note, repeat the reason you wrote the note. Add details to say thank you in a different way. Examples of how to repeat your thanks include:

Thank you again for taking the time to meet with me. I look forward to hearing from you and I am excited to see what the future holds.

We were delighted to have you with us on our big day. Thank you again for your generosity and kind wishes.

I can’t thank you enough. This personalized photo book means the world to me.

Give your warm regards

Finally, just as you addressed the recipient with a salutation when you opened the card, now is the time to close it. Depending on who you write to, your final opt-out may vary on the personal to formal scale. Examples of closing statements or sign-offs include:

sincerely,

All the best,

With love,

Thank you very much,

Kind regards,

Much love,

Look out,

Always,

Thanks again,

Hugs and Kisses,

XOXO

all my love

Thank you for your passion and for your willingness to share that passion with your students. Of all things, your enthusiasm for statistics is helpful. ?

Thank you for looking after us beyond the demands of your job.

Thank you for your unwavering zeal in teaching and for keeping us all happy with your approachable, personable demeanor.

It’s easy to take you for granted, but difficult to forget your words of inspiration. Instead of guiding me by holding my hands, you asked me to go ahead while lovingly watching me from behind.

Thank you for all you do for the cohort program. You’re great and that’s very much appreciated in a job where you’re sure to get few thanks. The program is life changing and you helped shape it and make it more valuable.

I don’t owe my professional success to fate, courage, luck, faith, confidence, or wealth. I owe it to a wonderful scholar like you. Nothing comes close to the inspiring presence of a teacher like you in a student’s journey. You have no idea the important role you play in shaping my research development, we may not have met often, but those little words of encouragement mean a lot to me.

As always, you challenged me to go further and learn more.

I really enjoyed all the readings and found them to be diverse and comprehensive. I learned a lot. Thank you for giving us the space not only to engage in dialogue, but also to be creative with our tasks.

Thank you for being so encouraging and doing everything you can to keep us motivated and supported throughout our program. Your knowledge and leadership skills provide us with an invaluable model for our own careers. I am so happy that you are part of my training.

You are gifted at explaining things in a variety of ways and in an exceptionally clear manner to help students understand concepts and theories. Thank you for the hard work you put into the course.

I would like to express my gratitude to you, a great professor, for your wonderful teaching in the class. I also want to thank you very much for your kindness and great support to an international student like me.

Thank you for teaching me that emotion and logic exist best together. I’ve learned to really care about diversity and inclusion through your classes, and I’m hopefully now spreading that message in a passionate but thoughtful way. You’re unbelievable. ?

Schools, colleges, and universities aren’t celebrated for their historic buildings, high funding, or prominent alumni. They become great because, like you, they have excellent skills.

Thank you for all your encouragement. You are an amazing person and I want you to know that you have had a significant impact on my life.

I know you probably didn’t have a “required” need to teach this course as you already had a fairly busy schedule of traveling abroad and lots of campus consulting. But your insights will help those of us who will continue to teach to be aware of the very important work this does in shaping the students’ minds of the future. My thanks to you for doing everything!

Your diligence and guidance inspired my inner confidence to climb like a tiger until I reach the pinnacle of my ambition.

I especially want to thank you for making the research and your approach very “easy” for me. Your approach was excellent and made me appreciate research like never before. My dream is to become a professor and when I become one I want to be like you. Many Thanks.

Your class and enthusiasm for the material really got me excited to come to class. It helped me figure out what I really want to do professionally and where I want to go in the next few years. Thank you for that.

Your passion shines through in your teaching and seems to be part of what makes you an effective professor. I’m glad I did this course with you. Thanks very much!

I came to you when I didn’t know what to do for my research, you gave me advice and guidance. Then you took me under your care; They showed me how research is done and how a researcher should think. You have given me a permanent place in your busy schedule and have gone through every detail with me. For all of the above, I am grateful to you and always indebted to you.

It is clear that you want us to learn and apply the knowledge gained in your classes. Throughout the course, you allowed us to freely express our experiences, thoughts, and opinions, which helped me gain insight into many of the concepts we learned.

Thank you for sharing your experience, expertise and wisdom in the toughest class I have ever had, yet one of my favorites. You challenged me to go higher and further than I thought possible while offering grace, kindness and compassion when my life was turned upside down. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for a great semester! I loved the books we read and the class reunions were always eye-opening. It was never boring and you kept us busy. This is what learning should look like.

Thank you for your advice and your kindness. You have empowered me to make a difference in my life and the lives of the people who look up to me. Thanks very much!

Thank you for your great efforts in helping international students improve our American accent. You are an outstanding professor and an excellent storyteller!

It was a pleasure to be in your class and to meet you. You may be the only teacher who could make DDOS attacks and ERDs fun! ?

Thank you for all your hard work and patience over the past semester! I had heard that you were teacher of the year for a year and now I know why. I was honestly a little intimidated by the course, but your thorough teaching style allowed me to fully understand everything you taught. Also, I appreciated how you focused on what was relevant and really important. So thank you for being a fabulous professor – one I will always treasure! Bottom up!

I had a fantastic time taking your course. Thank you for your warm and welcoming manner, inviting us all to ask more questions.

Thank you for the wonderful and addictive course. i learned a lot from you Your expertise and way of teaching is fantastic and I will certainly miss you. Thank you for giving me some of your wisdom.

Thank you for your passion and dedication to teaching what many people find to be some of the most challenging concepts in the accounting curriculum. Your positive attitude and detailed explanations of difficult concepts enrich every class you teach.

Just over dinner last night a group of us first years were thinking about the semester. We have concluded that you are one of the world’s hardest working professors and your passion for teaching shines through every day. Whether you stayed up late grading last-minute assignments or took the time to make us breakfast for our final exam, you really made a difference. In this sense, many thanks from the first class!

Thank you for your passion for our profession and our training. I feel so fortunate to have a professor like you who finds just the right challenge to push us to be better, encourage us and inspire us as future clinicians. You are appreciated and hope that as an educator you will feel encouraged and proud of the work you have done with our class. Thank you very much!!

Thank you for being a great advisor over the past few years! Thanks also for the constant supply of sweets :). You were/are someone I can always turn to with questions, problems, etc. and I appreciate that very much.

I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for our class. In the midst of this heartbreaking time, you have still made our learning and experience your top priority and I am amazed at your ability to do so. We love your commitment and passion for this profession and appreciate you very much! We missed seeing you daily but you were in our constant thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for being a professor who cares about each and every student. I was so blessed by your encouragement and willingness to help me fully understand the course material. You eased my transition into a professional program and I have never felt so supported by a professor. I look forward to having you as a professor again next semester!

Thank you for loving your job so much! you are a great teacher

Thank you for everything you taught me over the past year and for your support. You have always exceeded the expectations of a “great” professor. You really are a treasure at Mizzou! Thank you for everything and best wishes for all your future endeavors.

There are two types of teachers, one who teaches their students what the curriculum dictates and the other who goes beyond coursework to teach their students what life dictates. Thank you for being the latter. I have learned more from your silence than from your words, because you are one of the few who talk less and say more.

It is evident that you put the student first and are working to put us in a position where we will thrive. I also wanted to thank you for urging me to confront my uneasiness and strive for a broader view of the world of education. There’s more to do, but you’ve opened a window. Thanks very much!

My biggest takeaway, apart from all the social theories, is that I lacked confidence when presenting. You provided me with such support and encouragement throughout the semester that for the first time in my life I truly enjoyed presenting and overcame my fear of presenting (hooray!).

Thank you for your time, detailed feedback and follow-up. I’m glad this course was one of my first courses in the program. I look up to you as a role model. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you in the future.

I can’t say enough about how thank heaven you are for being my counselor and mentor. Your patience and understanding are second to none. That you genuinely care about our work life balance yet set the bar for rigor in learning has influenced me in leading others and will positively influence the nursing profession as your advice influences others. I am SO grateful that I chose Mizzou for many reasons, most notably the honor of knowing you. you are my hero

You continue to impress me with your knowledge, creativity and dedicated course work. Some people light up the room with their presence – you are one of them and you can do it even from a distance. Thank you for your guidance, wisdom and compassion as I continue this PhD; Not only do you help me learn, you make me a better person.

It is with overwhelming gratitude that I tell you what an inspiration you have been throughout my experience here at Mizzou. Your knowledge, understanding, and genuine “care” for others is illuminated in everything you do! i am thankful to know you

Thank you for your dedication, organization, enthusiasm and hard work. You are an inspiring professor.

How do you say thank you to your roommate?

Dear College Roommates, Thank you. Thank you for journeying with me through the crazy ride that is university. Thank you for moving in with me—for leaving the comfort of your own homes to risk living with a friend and gaining a sister (that you may or may not even wanted to have in the first place).

15 Best Ways to Say

Dear College Roommates,

Many Thanks. Thank you for traveling with me through the university crazy ride.

Thank you for moving in with me – for leaving the comfort of your own home to take the risk of living with a friend and having a sister (whom you may or may not want in the first place).

They say you only really get to know a person when you live with them, so thanks for not walking away after a few weeks of getting to know the real me.

I will miss the impromptu meals and the other random adventures we had—out of the blue movie dates and shopping adventures. Thank you for texting me whenever an amazing idea pops into your head, effectively giving me an exciting role in the story of your life.

With you by my side I grew up and learned to live independently. I learned how to separate wet and dry garbage, how to wash dishes and sweep the floor, how to travel longer distances on public transport.

I will never forget the deep conversations in the middle of the night when we all go to bed and are ready to close our eyes, but we can’t stop laughing and talking about the most absurd topics. Thanks for being someone I can talk to about anything – the annoying boy who keeps trying to date me, my professor’s stupid joke that only I find funny, the girl in my group work I just can’t stand can, and boy, we never thought it would break my heart.

Thank you for being there when I cry, always ready with ice cream to help me eat my feelings. Thank you for standing by my side even though I don’t need it…and slapping me with reality especially when I need it. I will always appreciate it when you listen to me and add new insights and perspectives to my view of life.

Thank you for movie nights, Jane the Virgin Tuesdays, buffalo wing lunches and our traditional birthday surprises. Thanks for always asking if I wear bottoms before bringing people into the room. Thank you for makeup nights, face mask nights, and everything in between. Thank you for being the light I can come home to after a long and dark day.

Thank you for sharing with me. Without you, my university life would have been boring.

We may one day move out of this tiny apartment and into the big world that is waiting for us, but I will always keep with me the small things that happened in these four walls and how they changed me forever.

Thank you for being one of the best things that happened to me in college. Promise to keep in touch – how else are we going to build and sustain our dream dynasty? Promise us we’ll make our dreams of cross-country road trips and lavish European tours come true.

But until then, I wish you the best of luck in your career. I am so excited for the people you will meet, whose lives you will shed light on in the way you shed light on my life. I’ll be awaiting our next dinner, the exciting new stories, and the good old inside jokes. I look forward to the birthdays, weddings and children that we have already planned. I wish you nothing less than the best happiness this world has to offer as you deserve that and so much more for the years of putting a smile on my face.

In fact, one of the few things I will continue to appreciate after these grueling years have ended and my degree completed is the sisters I never knew I needed in my life.

How can I thank a teacher for good result?

Thank you for your enthusiasm in everything you do and helping me when I felt down (more times than I can count).” “Thank you for your understanding and patience. You’re a great teacher and everything you’ve done means so much to me.” “Thank you all so much for the support that you’ve provided me with.

15 Best Ways to Say

Last week’s A-Level and BTEC results day brought just about every emotion that it’s easy to forget that each of those grades awarded was the culmination of two years of hard work by every single college student.

During this time, the relationship between the students and their teachers and tutors can often play a big part in that success, and the hundreds of students who came to collect their results had the opportunity to write postcards to thank their favorite collaborators .

Below is a selection of the many handwritten notes that show student appreciation:

“Thank you for making politics extremely engaging and making classes a joy along with the amount of extracurricular activities you organized which were amazing experiences.”

“I can’t explain how grateful I am that I had you as a teacher. You made me love books even more than I already did and you taught me LOTS more about life in general than just the subject.”

“Thank you for being so supportive and amazing over the past two years. They were very special and were instrumental in growing me into the young man I am today. Thank you for your enthusiasm in everything you do and for helping me when I was feeling down (more times than I can count).”

“Thank you for your understanding and patience. You are a great teacher and everything you have done means so much to me.”

“Thank you all so much for the support you have given me. It was an amazing experience and got me thinking about a future career in supporting people with additional needs. I enjoyed it so much!”

“I appreciate all the extra time outside of class and the help throughout class. Thank you for constantly pushing me and allowing me to get to where I am now.” “Your support and encouragement is amazing. Thank you very much!” – Mom

“Thanks for helping me get an A! I never thought I could achieve it. You have helped me through two stressful years; you are the best.”

“Thank you for making English fun. You are probably one of the funnest teachers I’ve ever had. They have also been so helpful in building my confidence in the subject and helping me get a grade I thought I couldn’t achieve.”

“You helped me get better at art and made me realize what I want to do with my life.”

“They inspired me to continue studying law at university.”

“Thank you for inspiring me to choose a career path in film and media creation. They completely changed my attitude towards film and filled the two years with fun.”

“A big thank you to everyone who made this possible. Our son would not have made it without your support. We are so proud – thank you.” – Parents

10 Things I’d Like to Thank my Classmates For

I was absolutely blessed with the 23 best colleagues anyone could ask for.

We started this journey almost a year ago: on June 20th, 2016. Before I started I knew a few faces and I knew a few names from meeting people in interviews but for the most part we were 24 strangers. As one of our professors always says, the first year of O&P school at Baylor is like drinking through a fire hose.

If O&P school can be compared to learning to drive… We don’t learn to drive on a back road or in a parking lot, we learn to drive 60 down the freeway. It’s stressful and crazy, and there’s always a refrain of “Are we there yet?!” But our class is living proof that on the journey you can’t help but connect.

We have literally poured our blood, sweat and tears into learning orthotics and prosthetics over the past year and I am now happy and grateful to call these people my family.

In March we received our residency matches and in July we will move to the clinical portion of our curriculum where we will rotate between 6 3 month residencies over the next 18 months. We will be moving across the country and we will not see each other every day from 8am to 5am like we do now.

I will miss them all so incredibly and I felt it necessary to give them a big shout out as I am so happy to have worked alongside them over the past year.

1. Thank you for your patience.

There have been SO MANY times I’ve asked you for help. There was never any hesitation, whether it was coming to my bank on your lunch hour to help me align or picking me up in the rain when my car died. I appreciate all the patience you showed when I asked. There have been many times in the past year that I’ve struggled – academically and emotionally. Thank you for being patient and offering 23 (well, 46 I guess) helping hands without a second thought.

2. Thank you for being my second home.

I moved to Houston, Texas without knowing a living soul. It’s been scary, but as we’ve grown together over the past year, you’ve all become more than classmates – you’re my friends and my O&P family. You have given me a home away from home and I have never felt lonely and I am so grateful for that.

3. Thank you for laughing with me.

There are days, some projects, some lectures that were just so confusing or difficult or boring or frustrating that we could only laugh. Thanks for the make day dance parties, for the endless inside jokes, and for the laughs that kept me sane.

4. Thank you for pushing me to be better.

You are all some of the most amazing people I have had the pleasure of meeting. I know you will all do amazing things. I am always impressed by the work you are doing at the school and that is why I am constantly striving to be better. You push me to my limits, which in turn helps me to improve.

5. Thank you for addressing my whining.

We’ll just leave this one here. I know it’s bad sometimes, especially when I’m hungry. just thanks

6. Thank you for teaching me.

What I love about our class is the fact that we come from a variety of unique backgrounds; everyone has something they are absolutely great at. I have learned so much from each and every one of you. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and passion with me.

7. Thank you for questioning me.

By questioning me, you are helping me become smarter and more aware. This in turn will enhance my skills as a clinician. By asking me questions, you indirectly give my future patients a better orthosis or prosthesis and a better quality of life. I am infinitely grateful for that.

8. Thanks for picking me up.

i am imperfect i am imperfect i am imperfect I’ve been struggling with this for a very long time and it’s still difficult to this day. I am a perfectionist and this often gets in the way of my progress and learning. However, by watching and learning from you all, I now know that if something not so good happens, I can dust myself off and move on. Before I met you all, if I struggled, I’d get stuck in a rut. Thanks for getting me out of my rut. There were even times when I didn’t even know what to do and you were there to pick me up.

9. Thank you for the inspiration.

You all amaze me with your work and the compassion you show every day. I’m proud to say that I’ve worked and studied alongside you and I’m lucky to know you. I can’t wait to see you all do great things, and by doing those great things you inspire me to try the same.

10. Thank you for being on my team.

I’ve had rather unpleasant study experiences when it came to comparing performance or grades between classmates. I hated the cutthroat, must-to-be-the-best mentality. To be honest, I was concerned about this when I got to grad school; I didn’t know what to expect. However, when I started here I was (and still am) amazed that we all look out for each other. We want the best for our classmates and I love the bond we share. I know that you will always have my back and I will always have yours.

Many Thanks. I can’t wait to see what you all achieve in the next 18 months!

Best Heartbreaking Message for Classmates

Dear friends in my class, you all inspire me in your own way. I know it’s silly, but in a weird way I see you girls as my sisters. We’ve grown so close together over the past few years. And while we may never see each other again after this course, I hope we can stay close forever. We will always be there for each other! And PLEASE tell me if you ladies need someone to talk to. i miss you in my life I want to call you and tell you a joke or something funny that happened while I was spending my day with you. I wish we could have a month together just us so we can spend time and do all the activities we wanted to do together. I love you! you are a great guy Nobody in this class knows you like I do, and they never will. You are even better than what you think on the outside. I’ve never met anyone who is as open about their feelings as I am. And it’s nice to see that you can be just as nice and fun-loving as me, but still have some personal stuff to do besides schoolwork. My parents say if you can find just one person. I love you to the moon and back darling. You are an amazing person that everyone should have in their life. Your smile can brighten my whole day. I have never met anyone as caring, passionate, smart, funny, beautiful, sweet, loving and all around amazing as you are. I am so thankful that God has blessed me to have you as a friend. I don’t know what I would do without you. You are my best friend, my soulmate. I can’t imagine life without you. always love you baby One of the most beautiful things in life is that once you understand that friends change, you don’t have to change friends. You are a great classmate and a great friend, when I am sad I just want to text you because you are always listening why I consider you a special person. Thank you for being there every time I need you. As I sit here in class, I can’t stop thinking about you. You are in every thought, in every memory and in every tear that falls down my face in a waterfall of tears. You said it was over, but is it really? Is our friendship really over? I know I can never replace you. Thanks to the one who put a smile back on my face during a difficult phase. You were a true friend and savior. You always kept me going when I wanted to give up and gave me a reason to smile. I can’t find words to express my gratitude for being there for me during my bad times. Hope you know how much I love you!! This is for my classmate I’ve known since 1st grade. You were my first best friend and I will love you forever. Even though we fought when we were kids, I never held a grudge against you. The older we got, the more I realized what you mean to me. This year will be our last year of high school and we haven’t drifted apart at all. Thank you for always being there for me. I wanted to tell you that you’re the best friend I’ve ever had. You are so amazing and helped me through so many problems I had. I never want to let go of this friendship because without you my life would be so terrible. I love you so much! You are a wonderful person. I’m so lucky to have you by my side. where would i be without you I love you so much. Hello, I really like you! Well, that sounded kind of forward, didn’t it? i mean i like you as a friend Thing is, I don’t know if you like me as a friend or more. You see we never talk anymore and I miss your stupid jokes and the way we could talk for hours about anything and everything. To be honest, I miss our friendship and how it used to be. Thank you for always being there for me. I’m so glad we’ve become such good friends. I have learned so much from you and I hope to give you the same guidance and comfort. Don’t forget to keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground. Friends are the siblings that God forgot to give me. And you are my best friend, the one who knows me inside and out, the one who believes in me when I don’t believe in myself. From childhood to adulthood you were always there for me. The day you were born God made the best decision he ever made because you are awesome! I can’t believe how much my life has changed since I met you. When I first thought I didn’t need a boyfriend, I was totally wrong. Ever since I met you, my life has been full of happiness and new opportunities. You are someone wonderful that I am glad to fall into my life. You deserve the best in this world and I pray you get what you want because you are just amazing. Having you in my life makes me feel like there is no better place for me. We’ve been friends since we were kids and I still remember the first time we met. There was an instant bond and I knew we would become really good friends. Now that we’re older, every time I see you, I start to burn with excitement. I love you so much and I’m so glad we could become best friends! You know it’s so hard to believe I still vividly remember the day I saw you. It was our freshman year of high school and I knew right away that you are the indescribable feeling I’ve been looking for my entire life. The last few years have brought so many changes to my life, but I’m so thankful for the one constant I had, you. You are one of my best friends and I just can’t imagine not having you with me. I really love you. Thanks for being my best friend, buddy. You are always there for me no matter what happens. I know I can always count on you, even when it’s hard for me. Thank you for always making me laugh, but most of all thank you for being you! I’ve been looking for this kind of text for a long time, but today it was found by me, so I’m so very grateful to you friends. I really appreciate your efforts. The text is so meaningful and too good. Thanks again. I know you’re my sister, but I don’t want to be. I’ve had a crush on you since the beginning of time! All the boys at school are so jealous of me, but I don’t mind. You are so kind, caring and genuine. I see the way you look at me too. Let’s just be together forever I will never leave you. The other guys just have to wait. I met you when you were a freshman and I was a senior. You were a new girl who didn’t know anyone and I was the popular guy on the basketball team. Most of the girls wanted to date me but all I wanted was you. I’ve always seen something different in you, even though we went to different schools we always made time for each other on the long weekends. When our high school career ended, I didn’t want to say goodbye, but then we finally said goodbye. Studying at college can sometimes be difficult. Especially when you put so much pressure on yourself. Try not to listen to all the complaints and don’t make excuses, you will never achieve your goals if you don’t push yourself to do more than you think you can handle. Try your best, even if it’s difficult, you don’t want to end the lesson with regrets because you beat that B or that A-. One day when all else fails, all you have to do is remember that moment, that happiness you’re feeling right now, knowing that your true love still exists no matter what happens in life. I can barely remember life before I knew you. You were with me from the beginning and now we’re still here together after everything we’ve been through. I love you and I know that as long as we stand together and face the world together, we will be fine. You are my sunshine on cloudy days, the smile when I’m sad and my shoulder to cry on. I’m so lucky to have you in my life. You make me laugh, you make me smile and you make me happy. Her radiant personality lights up every room you enter. I love everything about you and am so grateful for everything you do. Hey man it’s been a while since we’ve spoken but I just wanted to say that if you need someone to talk to you know where I live. Things are not going well and sometimes we need our friends for support and strength. And maybe we could even go for a pint in the pub like we used to. Hey I just want to send you lots of love to let you know that you are always in my heart. Just remember someone loves you and hopes you are happy today. We are classmates but also good friends. I hope we will keep this friendship forever! Enjoy your day! When I first met you I knew that you would be a very important person in my life. And as we got closer, I started having feelings for you that grew stronger every day. It is impossible to learn how to love, but everyone is capable of being loved. No matter how hard you fall or how fast it feels, remember that someone will always be there to catch you. And if not, the best thing to do is be patient and wait for someone to.” It’s hard to express how much you mean to me, but I want you to know that nobody can make me laugh like that They do. I loved every moment of our friendship! It never ceases to amaze me how well we know each other. I’m glad you’re by my side through it all because I don’t think I could get through this without your support. You mean the world to me! I couldn’t go a day without missing you. Your smile is the first thing I look for in the morning and the last thing on my mind before falling asleep. You are the greatest friend anyone could wish for. Even when we fight, it feels like nothing more than foreplay. I love you more than anything on this planet and I’m so lucky to have you. Thank you for all your support, laughs, smiles and cuties. Thank you for being a great friend. You have been so supportive of me over the years and our friendship means so much to me. I love you to infinity! I won’t say much. I want to show you. You deserve the world, not for what you have done, but for what you will do. It will take a lot of courage to fight this battle you face, but I know if anyone can win, it’s you. I want to erase all the pain that I see in your eyes. All the fear I hear in your voice I want to calm.
