Is ceramic tint easier to see out of at night?

Ceramic window tint can help you stay safe on the road by reducing sun glare. Your tint will only let 50% of light enter your car, which makes it a lot easier to see while you’re driving. That’s even true at night, as ceramic tint film is designed to block light without compromising your safety or visibility.

Car Window Tinting Law, window tint, car tints, tinted windows West London

With all the window tinting film options on the market, it can seem difficult to decide which one is right for your car. But ceramic window tint has become the industry leader when it comes to quality, protection and appearance.

Ceramic foil also contains no dyes, metal or carbon. Instead, it’s made of tiny ceramic-based nanoparticles that are invisible to the naked eye. This means that you can see better on the road with ceramic window tinting than with other films.

There are many reasons why you should choose ceramic window tinting for your car, but we’ve narrowed the list down to six main benefits:

1. UV protection

Untinted windows can naturally filter out some UVA and UVB rays, but still allow many of the sun’s harmful rays through your car’s windows. And continued UV exposure can lead to eye and skin damage such as cataracts, macular degeneration or melanoma.

But ceramic window tinting not only protects the interior of your car from fading in sunlight; It can also protect you from those rays! A quality window tint blocks up to 99% of cancer-causing UV rays, reducing the risk of eye and skin damage over time.

2. Less glare when driving

Glare from the sun isn’t just a nuisance when you’re out and about; it can also make driving more dangerous. The strong, blinding sun can cause extreme contrasts in light intensity, which can lead to eyestrain or an increased risk of accidents due to low vision.

Ceramic lens tint can help you stay on the road safely by reducing glare from the sun. Their tint only lets 50% of the light into your car, making it much easier to see while driving. That’s true even at night, as ceramic tint film is designed to block light without compromising your safety or visibility.

3. No signal interference

Another type of window tint is metallic. While sharing many benefits with ceramic film (such as improved privacy and visibility for drivers), metallic tint has one major drawback: it’s made up of tiny metal particles and can therefore disrupt radio and cell phone signals.

But with ceramic lens tinting, you don’t have to deal with electronic signal interference. This means you can turn up the radio and safely make calls without worrying about static or dropped calls while driving.

4. A cooler, greener interior

Quality ceramic window tinting not only keeps UV rays out of your car; it also blocks 80% of infrared light. Infrared rays are the reason why we feel the warmth of the sun. So when there are fewer rays, tinted windows lower the interior temperature of your vehicle, even if you have to park in the sun.

With less infrared light entering your car, you can also save energy and money. You don’t have to run your air conditioner as often when your car has already cooled down – it’s less of a strain on your engine, your gas tank and your wallet!

5. Privacy and Security

The first thing you’ll notice after tinting your windows is how much darker they are (although this doesn’t affect your visibility on the road). Nobody can see what’s inside the vehicle, which will likely deter someone who would have broken into or jacked up your car.

In addition to providing additional privacy, tinting ceramic windows also helps you and your passengers avoid injury from broken glass. While it won’t prevent your windows from shattering in the event of an accident, ceramic window tint will prevent glass from shattering.

6. Quality and Durability

Ceramic window tinting may cost a little more than other films, but quality installation by professionals will be worth the investment in the long run. By tinting your windshield and windows, you give your car a scratch-resistant shine that will last for years.

And because ceramic window tint is made up of tiny nanoparticles that are firmly bonded together, it’s very durable. That means it can withstand potential criminals, rocks on the road, and even stray golf balls!

Ceramic window tint isn’t just pretty (although it’s definitely stylish!). If you choose high-quality tinted car windows, you will experience better privacy without signal interference. Plus, keep your interior cool, protect your skin and eyes from the sun, and stop running your air conditioner so often!

Whether you still have questions about ceramic window tinting or are ready for incredible style, protection and security, a team of professionals can help.

How long should I wait after tinting windows?

It’s important to remember that freshly tinted windows must go through a curing process. Typically, once your windows are tinted, you must wait at least 3 to 4 days before rolling down and using your windows. The drying process is essential.

If you just bought a new car, you need to know some tips about tinting windows. Read this year-round guide to the best times of year to tint your car windows.

Window tinting on your vehicle can reduce the total UV radiation that penetrates your car’s glass by over 99%. Depending on where you live and how much you drive, a car window tint can provide significant protection from the sun.

Besides, it can limit sun headaches or migraines while driving and protect kids from having to ride on overheated seats.

Auto tint works better in some seasons than others. Read on to learn more about window tinting and the best time of year to do it!

 What is window tinting?

Window tinting is the process of applying film to the inside of a car’s windows. The purpose is to reduce UV rays and solar heat entering the vehicle interior.

Window tint film material and thickness varies by car, car owner, and government regulations. Each state has its own rules for how dark car owners can tint their windows.

While some car owners tint their windows because they think it looks cool, others do so for reasons like:

To protect the vehicle interior

To block harmful UV rays

To keep the interior of the car cooler

For the relief of migraines caused by the sun

Tinting can also help reduce glare from other cars’ headlights. The tint also offers more privacy, so passers-by and drivers cannot easily see into a vehicle.

If it’s too dark, tinting can be dangerous at night as it reduces visible light transmission through the tinted windows. Each federal state has its own restrictions on tinting, especially for windshields.

Some new cars already have tinted windows, but tinting is a common aftermarket option. The lower the film number, the darker the film’s tint, which means less light can penetrate.

You can buy DIY tinting kits or opt to have it done professionally.

From ceramic window film to coated window tints, there are many options, some of which absolutely must be applied by a professional window tinter.

The best of the four seasons window tint

From fighting headaches to blocking UV rays, there are many reasons to tint your vehicle’s windows. However, some seasons are better than others as too hot or too cold weather can make tinting difficult. Let’s take a look at the different seasons and which ones work best.

 Spring and Autumn

Usually the best time to tint windows is either spring or autumn. The low humidity and mild temperatures at this time of year ensure that the applied tint adheres well to the windows.

In spring, rain and humidity can be a problem, especially in southern areas. If summer lengthens and fall is still hot, tinting can still be difficult. However, as a general rule of thumb, spring and fall are the best times of year for window tinting.

 Summer and winter

In the warmer summer months, the hot air can actually cure the tint faster. It’s good. However, high humidity can make it difficult to apply the tint.

On the other end of the spectrum, window tinting can make drying difficult during the winter months. If you decide to tint yours in the winter, you may have to wait a little longer to use your windows to give them adequate time to dry. As long as the installer has a temperature-controlled space to tint car windows, they can this can be done at any time of the year.

Curing of window tinting

It is important to remember that freshly tinted windows must go through a curing process. After your lenses are tinted, you usually have to wait at least 3 to 4 days before you can roll them down and use them.

The drying process is essential. The process itself involves applying a clear film using special glue. If the glue doesn’t have enough time to dry, it could ruin your tint.

How long you have to wait after application depends on the weather. On warmer days, 3 to 4 days should be enough. However, when the weather is colder, you may have to wait more than 4 days before using your windows. Your window tint installer will give you specifics on how long to wait to ensure adequate drying time. Once the curing process is complete, you can use your windows to your heart’s content, hot or cold weather.

 Things to remember

Before you tint your vehicle’s windows, there are a few important things to consider. First and foremost, remember to comply with government regulations, otherwise you risk getting a fine and a ticket later. Any professional plumber is familiar with your state’s laws and will ensure your car complies with the regulations.

While you can tint your windows yourself, it’s important not to settle for an inferior film. Doing it yourself may seem like the most cost-effective option, but remember that time is money. If you invest all your time and use a lower quality film, you’ll likely end up spending more to have it repaired later. If your window tint is going to be applied during extremely cold or hot months, make sure it’s done professionally in a temperature controlled window environment is applied. Also, don’t forget to allow sufficient drying time before using your windows after tinting.

Do you have to declare window tints to insurance?

It’s an easy way of preventing any unpleasant surprises. You must tell your insurer even if you’re tinting rear glass to improve security or protect young kids from the sun. The message is: tinting glass may affect your premium or the ability to get cover.

Car Window Tinting Law, window tint, car tints, tinted windows West London

Tinted windows or privacy glass are becoming increasingly popular with new car buyers. But if you decide to have your existing car’s windows tinted, you have to be really careful. When it comes to tinting car windows, the law is strict. And rightly so, because overly tinted glass can affect a driver’s ability to see in the dark. It can also prevent drivers from confirming through eye contact that they have seen other road users and pedestrians.

Although tinting car windows is not part of the MOT test, you could still be breaking the law and voiding your insurance. You must note the following.

Which windows does it apply to?

Let’s be clear upfront (sorry!): the tinted glass law only applies to the windshield and front quarter windows. There are no rules when it comes to tinting rear windows or the rear window. Otherwise, millions of van and limousine drivers would have no choice but to break the law.

What is the law on tinting car windows?

Illegal tinted glass can endanger the safety of all road users. The last thing we want on the road is drivers who can’t see properly. On vehicles registered before April 1, 1985, the windshield and the front side windows must let through at least 70 percent light. In vehicles registered later, the windscreen must let through at least 75 percent light; the front side windows 70 percent.

What about buying a car with tinted windows?

An automaker will never knowingly install illegal glass. If you’re buying a new car, there shouldn’t be any problems. If it’s a used car and the glass is heavily tinted, you need to be careful. It is actually against the law to sell a car with an illegally tinted windscreen because it does not comply with building and use regulations. If in doubt, walk away or ask the seller to remove the tint at their expense.

What about the insurance?

As with any change, insurers need to know. Whatever people change, I always advise them to check with their insurer first. This is how you easily avoid unpleasant surprises. You must also inform your insurer if you tint your rear window to improve safety or to protect small children from the sun. The message is: tinted glass can affect your bounty or ability to get coverage.

And if you decide to continue anyway?

It is illegal for any company to supply glass or tint film for windscreens which, when fitted to the vehicle, does not conform to the construction and use specifications. If you illegally install dark tinted film, the police or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency can check this with special light meters. If the windshield or front windows are considered too tinted, you may be banned from using the car until the film is removed. In extreme cases, there is a risk of a fine or a court summons.

Why isn’t it part of the TÜV?

You may be surprised to know that tinting glass is not part of TÜV testing. That’s because of the approximately 24 million cars that pass MOT every year, only a tiny proportion have tinted windows. And some TÜV inspection agencies may never see a car with owner-tinted windows. If every workshop invested in the necessary equipment to measure glass tint, the MOT would have to become more expensive for everyone. And I don’t think the majority of car owners would be particularly happy about that. I certainly wouldn’t.

Massachusetts window tint laws accept tints up to 6 inches from the top of your windshield. For additional windows – such as the front, back and rear – tints up to 35% can be applied.

Tinted windows are an excellent way for drivers to personalize their vehicle by adding extra privacy and style. However, too much tinting can affect your vision and the safety of other drivers, so each state has limits when it comes to blacking out your windows.

To make sure you comply with Massachusetts laws, Jerry, the auto insurance comparison super app, has everything you need to know about acceptable window tinting in the state of Old Bay.

What is the percentage of visible light transmission?

Visible Light Transmission Percentage (VLT) shows how much light can pass through a window tint film. Each state has its own rules for this percentage.

A higher VLT means more light can penetrate through the film of the window. For example, a VLT of 45% means that 45% of light can pass through your tint, while a VLT of 5% only lets 5% of the light through – meaning you can’t see into the vehicle at all.

What is the Massachusetts window tint law?

Massachusetts tinting law limits the degree to which you can tint your windows – and applies to most civilian vehicles. Here are the limits for Massachusetts:

Front Windshield: Non-reflective (or metallic) at the AS-1 line or up to 6 inches from the top of the windshield

Front seat side windows: Up to 35% VLT

Rear seat side windows: Up to 35% VLT

Rear window: Up to 35% VLT

Reflective tinting is permitted up to 35% VLT but only on the front and rear windows.

The Massachusetts window tint law has no requirements for the colors you use to tint your windows. Massachusetts drivers also don’t have to have manufacturer-certified film or identify their tint via a sticker — although both can save you the trouble of explaining a questionable tint order when pulled over.

Medical Exceptions

Massachusetts allows higher VLTs due to medical exemption. Applications are first reviewed and signed by a physician and then sent to the Massachusetts Medical Advisory Board, where exceptions are processed and decided.

Upon acceptance, those who have been granted the exemption will receive a large sticker that must be displayed on the driver’s side window (right next to the driver) at all times.

If you are stopped for violating the Massachusetts Tinting Act, you will be fined $250.

Massachusetts won’t force you to get rid of your window tint right away—but a third or subsequent violation will have your driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

The state of Massachusetts first enacted window tinting legislation in 1985, making it one of the first states to enshrine window film requirements into official law. For most of the four decades since window tinting laws first went into effect in Massachusetts, window tinting technology has advanced greatly, and myriad new window film options have become available to motorists. Massachusetts tint laws have changed several times in response to new window film products and installation techniques, and may change again in the future. As such, it’s a good idea to regularly read up on MA window tinting laws to ensure you have all vehicles registered in the state and stay within the regulations, as in Massachusetts window tinting tickets can cost up to $250 for a single offense and repeated violations of widows’ tinting can result in a prolonged suspension of their driver’s license.

Here we cover the basic Massachusetts laws regarding car window tinting, as well as some of the more specific rules you must follow (e.g. recommendations for stickers with information about window tinting and reflection restrictions).

But first, since side and rear windows of all types of vehicles in Massachusetts are subject to the same rules when it comes to darkness tint, it’s imperative to understand how window tint darkness is calculated. The term to be understood is visible light transmission or VLT. That’s how much light is allowed through a window, and the lower the number, the less light. So a 5% VLT window is quite dark tinted and lets very little visible light through, meaning it also effectively blocks the view and provides privacy. (5% VLT window tint is often referred to as “sedan tint.”) On the other hand, 95% VLT tint is almost transparent. As we move forward, keep VLT in mind.

Windshield tinting laws in Massachusetts

Many vehicles come with a manufacturer-installed lens tint along a band across the windshield, and if your car has a factory lens tint, it almost certainly complies with Massachusetts tint law and is probably sufficient to reduce sun glare, glare and driving Impairs unsteady, especially just after sunrise and just before sunset, when the angle of sunlight is at its most extreme.

On the other hand, if your car doesn’t have window tinting on the windshield, this is a mandatory safety upgrade that can also just make driving more enjoyable and reduce the need to squint in the bright sun. If you have an aftermarket windshield tint applied in Massachusetts, the law requires the tint to be no lower than the marked AS-1 line (small letters and numbers mark this line on the windshield) or up to six inches below the top of the windshield glass is located. which is higher. (For quick reference: the AS-1 line roughly corresponds to where the blinds are folded down in the car.)

Front windshield tint in MA cannot be reflective, the same rule applies to almost all states as reflective windshield tint can cause glare that blocks other drivers’ vision.

Side and rear window tinting laws for automobiles in Massachusetts

The rules for window tinting for cars, trucks, SUVs, and any other type of vehicle in Massachusetts are refreshingly easy to understand when it comes to all side and rear windows (the latter refers to the back window, to be precise): all windows can tinted to a maximum darkness of 35% VLT, which means they must transmit at least 35% or more of the sun’s visible light.

35% VLT lens tint is more than dark enough to add privacy and style to a vehicle, and a darker tint only further enhances the functional benefits of lens tinting, discussed later. Note that along with the 35% VLT rating, the window tint on the side and rear windows must be a maximum of 35% reflective to allow the film to have a subtle specular and metallic appearance.

While many states allow darker tints on side and rear windows, Massachusetts’ tint law is at least consistent and easy to understand (it also allows for more reflection than many states), and it’s also fairly permissive about window tint color, as it currently is in Massachusetts all colors of window tint are allowed. (Note that most states ban red, yellow, and amber tints, while many others ban silver, gold, and metallic window films.)

Other window tint restrictions and exceptions in Massachusetts

Massachusetts state tint laws allow medical exceptions to the 35% VLT darkness limit. So if you feel you need a darker tint to reduce sun exposure, which can aggravate skin problems and eye health, or trigger migraines or other ailments, speak to a doctor with proof of qualification for a window film exemption. With a doctor’s note, you can request a darker tint from an installer and avoid tickets for your otherwise illegal window film.

Window tint manufacturers, installers, and retailers in Massachusetts aren’t required to officially certify the tint they sell because they comply with state law, and motorists aren’t required to affix stickers proving the tint’s legality to their cars, but officials are recommending this final step mitigate potential problems during traffic stops or inspections.

Dual side mirrors are required under the MA tint law if the rear window is tinted or other obstructions block the view.

A window tinting card in Massachusetts can cost as much as $250, and in extreme cases, an officer can issue multiple window tinting citations at once, so the costs can quickly add up. Worse, a third window tinting violation on your record can have your license suspended for 90 days, so don’t risk the penalties associated with illegal window tinting in Massachusetts.

Benefits of window tinting for vehicles

Far too often, when people think of tinting car windows, they think only of adding privacy to the car and, in somewhat less cases, of improving the vehicle’s appearance. In fact, car window tinting is much more about performance than looks, and you can get almost all of the performance benefits with a tint that is transparent or nearly clear. So don’t shy away from window film if you don’t like the darkened look. Car window tinting prevents UV light fading and cracking of the interior, preserves the vehicle’s appearance and value, and blocks much of the sun’s hot IR light, keeping the interior cooler and using less fuel and battery to keep it running to operate the air conditioning. And even a clear tint can reduce glare and make driving safer.

How much does it cost to tint windows in MA?

In general, the cost may vary; for example, a basic tint for a sedan car using the classic film can cost less than $150 per vehicle. However, suppose you want a top-quality film such as ceramic window tint. In that case, it can cost up to $400 per vehicle.

Some states restrict certain colors for tinted windows, but Florida does not

Some states require certification for tint manufacturers, but Florida does not

Florida requires a decal on the driver’s side door jamb stating your legal tint levels

Florida requires two side mirrors if your rear windows are tinted

There are medical exemptions to obtain a special tint that exceeds the allowable levels. It’s important to choose the right company when tinting your vehicle’s windows. You don’t want to go with the company that has the lowest price. You want to work with the company that offers the best quality, knows Florida’s tinting laws, and offers competitive prices. Florida tinting law has other rules and regulations that you must be aware of. These rules and regulations apply to tinted windows for other parts of your car, van or SUV. Some of the rules and regulations are listed below:

Legal Window Reflection Tint

In cars, your reflective tint must reflect no more than 25%. Your rear windows must have no more than 35% reflectivity. For SUVs and vans, your front side windows must not reflect more than 25%.

Your rear windows must not be more than 35% reflective. In 2015, Florida updated its tint window laws, and many people are unaware that some of these changes affect your legal limits on tint and reflectance levels. In addition to tinting on vehicle windows, Florida law also has rules and regulations about how window tinting reflects incident light. Some people think this is the same as the VLT Act. However, the reflection tone of your vehicle has different readings.

Violating Florida window tinting laws

In Florida, between 10% and 20% of state and local law enforcement officers wear a visible light transmitting device. This device is called a VLT meter. The VLT meter measures both the darkness and the reflectivity of your lens tint.

Florida enacted these laws because the police officer’s safety is jeopardized when law enforcement cannot see into your car during a traffic stop. It is important to know that if a police officer stops you for a VLT offence, they have the right to search your car. Law enforcement authorities may question you about other suspected activities if they choose.

If you get a ticket for illegal VLT window tinting, the penalty is approximately $116 per ticket. You must be aware that a police officer can issue a ticket for any car window that has illegal VLT tint levels. Window tinting has many advantages. There are also legal ramifications if you break a window tinting rule or regulation. These legal consequences cost you money.

Commercial and personal tinting

Commercial building owners discovered years ago that window films reduce the power and intensity of the sun’s glare and heat. In addition, it helps reduce the overall cost of cooling commercial buildings. There are three window films that offer exceptional cost savings.

Llumar and Vista Home and Commercial Films are among the best in their class. The window films help homes and commercial buildings in the Jacksonville and Lake City areas save on their cooling bills. These special window films protect your home or workplace from the worst heat Florida has to offer. Florida residents have learned that in addition to tinting windows for their vehicles, there are great benefits to purchasing window film for other units that they live, work in, or use. Many Floridians install protective window films on their boats or home windows. Some Floridians work in commercial buildings equipped with cool comfort window films.

Exceptions to VLT laws for window tinting

The exclusions for window tinting are: medical exceptions

Private Investigation Vehicles You will need a Medical Exemption Certificate that details the description of your vehicle. The description of your vehicle must include: vehicle make

vehicle model

year of manufacture of the vehicle

Vehicle ID Number You must retain the TUE sticker number with the name of the registered vehicle owner affixed to your vehicle. There are exceptions to every law and the VLT law is no different. Florida provides a list of legal exceptions to its VLT laws, rules and regulations. Some of the exceptions relate to medical conditions.

Window tint when you want it

Can you get pulled over for tint in Florida?

There’s a fine line, however, between acceptable and unacceptable amounts of tinting in Florida car tint laws but it is a legal line nonetheless. This means a driver could potentially be cited for a tinting violation without realizing it – or even a citation for every window, which could add up to a pricy ticket!

Car Window Tinting Law, window tint, car tints, tinted windows West London

Drivers in Florida face different challenges than drivers in much of the United States, and it’s not just the crowded, confusing freeway system or the chance of the occasional roadside alligator sighting on rural stretches of road.

A particular area of controversy is the amount of window tinting permitted by law on automobiles and where it is located.

Sure, it can look cool on your ride and offer a little privacy — you don’t have to make eye contact or allow other drivers to see what you’re doing, right?

But the number one reason many want the darkest tint is to beat the heat – it’s warm here all year round and a good tint or sunscreen pack can cool your car down quickly, allowing you to stay out longer and not overheat.

However, there is a fine line between acceptable and unacceptable amounts of tinting in Florida auto tinting laws, but it is a legal limit nonetheless. This means a driver could potentially be reported for a tint violation without realizing it – or even a subpoena for each window, which could result in an expensive ticket!

The rules for legal car tinting in Florida are different than many other states and continue to be updated regularly, so contacting someone with an understanding of current laws and procedures can be crucial.

How to get your windows tinted: Florida Tint Laws

Under Florida state law, there are certain limitations on the amount of tinting or sunscreen material that can cover or partially cover the front windshield, front, back and rear windows of a standard sedan style vehicle. (Special restrictions apply to multi-passenger vehicles such as buses or vans.)

This tint can include any material that renders a window opaque or appears to change the color of the window, increase its reflectivity, or decrease light transmission.

Tinting of a windshield is only permitted on a 5 inch strip at the top provided it is transparent and does not obstruct the driver’s full field of vision.

Failure to comply with these state laws is classified as an immovable violation and a noncriminal violation that may result in a fine.

How dark can the window tint be in Florida?

The state of Florida’s tinting law considers two factors: the percentage of light that is allowed into the film and window (visible light transmission), and the percentage of incoming light that is reflected outward, reducing glare and heat be able.

The total reflection of the sun for the front side windows must not exceed 28 percent. Rear windows must let in at least 15 percent light. Exceptions are allowed for perforated privacy screen material that has a total reflectance of visible light greater than 35 percent and for louvered materials that must not reduce visibility by more than 50 percent.

Drivers must provide evidence of this medical condition in the form of a signed certificate and waiver from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Professions where privacy and discretion can be an advantage can get exceptions to allow a higher percentage of tinting on their windows. This may include process servers, private investigators, and certain types of law enforcement vehicles. This tint can provide better conditions for surveillance and make detection more difficult.

Repairing or replacing tinting material that has been legally installed is permitted, but removing, selling and installing it without proper authorization is considered a second-degree misdemeanor.

Stickers showing the correct percentage of a car’s tint must be placed in the driver’s car door.

Two side mirrors are required for tinted rear windows.

What is important to know before you have your vehicle windows tinted?

Drivers considering tinting should familiarize themselves with Florida’s tinting laws rather than taking the word of a car salesman or detailing expert/tinting professional. These providers should be familiar with the state’s laws and discuss why they may not be able to do what you’re asking, especially when it comes to something like a dark windshield.

Someone relocating from another state should also check the rules with the state of Florida or an objective auto organization like AAA. The AAA has compiled information on the current rules for tinting and sunscreen for each state.

You could also take the opportunity to use a handheld light meter to actually measure the percentage of reflection once traffic control kicks in.

Q. How much is an improper tinting ticket?

No-move violations cost $116. However, an officer may be able to write a ticket for any window they believe is non-compliant. What does 35 window tint mean?

35% window tint means that a window film is rated to allow 35% of the sun’s light (or an artificial visible light) to shine through the window to which it is applied. In other words, 35% tint blocks 65% of light from the visible spectrum from passing through window glass.

Car Window Tinting Law, window tint, car tints, tinted windows West London

35% window tint means a window film is designed to allow 35% of sunlight (or any artificial visible light) to pass through the window to which it is applied. In other words, 35% tint blocks 65% of light in the visible spectrum from passing through window glass. It also typically blocks up to 99% of all UV (ultraviolet) light and can also reduce IR (infrared) light transmission.

A window tint’s percentage rating is related to its visible light transmission percentage (VLT), where VLT is an accurate way of saying “how much light does a window film let through.” The lower a tint’s percentage rating, the darker that window film . The higher the tint number, the lighter the lens tint.

Is 35 percent tint dark?

A vehicle with 35% tint on the windows gives the car a darker look and increases privacy, but this tint is still easy to see through, which has made the 35% VLT tint one of the most popular tints. It’s generally considered a medium-dark tint option, somewhere between a very dark 5% “sedan tint”, the darkest you can get, and a very common 50% VLT tint, which is a light tint that’s almost clear looks most people.

Can you see through 30% tint at night?

Yes you can. 35% VLT tint is one of the most popular window films, largely because you can easily see through after dark, although it offers great style and privacy during the day.

35% tint is legal on all windows in many states and rear windows in most states, and frankly of course that tint wouldn’t be legal anywhere if you couldn’t see the film properly at night!

Even so, it may still not be the ideal tint for you: every pair of eyes is different, so some riders may have trouble seeing through this tint compared to lighter foils or no tint at all. If legal in your area, 35% VLT tinting is a good choice for side and rear windows, but remember that it is never recommended to tint your windscreen with 35% – plus it’s illegal in almost every state.

Is 35% a light shade?

35% tint blocks 65% of the light and is considered the middle tint in the tint spectrum. For comparison, 5% tint, also known as soda tint, is the darkest tint available from most window film manufacturers. 35% is a shade legal for windshields in many states, making it a very, very popular shade.

Can you see through 35 tint at night?

In a well-lit area, 35% is a very easy-to-see film, which is why it’s legal in many states for front windows and almost all states for rear windows.

Car Window Tinting Act

In the UK there is a window tinting law which ensures that a certain amount of light can still pass through the glass. At MR TINT you will not find any tint that would break UK law.

The windscreen must let in at least 75% light at all times. The front side and passenger windows must let in at least 70%. This means that if you are stopped and wearing the tint, an officer will not ask you to remove them or issue a ticket.

You can choose from a range of tints, all of which comply with the window tint law.
