Trivial Pursuit Team Game Rules

Trivial Pursuit Team is played in four rounds. During each game round, six question cards are dealt face down next to the board. The teams take turns choosing a question card, answering it and trying to score as many points as possible. The team with the most points wins after all question cards have been played.

components

game board

2 movers

Card holder with stand

12 game packs (360 cards)

30 customizable cards.

subject matter of the game

Move furthest along the path by earning points for correctly answering questions.

configuration

Prepare the game board and place the two game pieces on the START field. Choose a deck of cards and unwrap them. Be careful NOT to shuffle the cards – it’s important to keep them in order. Remove the rules card (the top one) and the score card (the bottom one) and place them on the table for reference. Place the cards face down in the card holder. Note: To open the card holder, locate the small bumps on the side and open the lid.

Split into two teams.

round one

Draw the first card and read it aloud. It contains the rules for the first round. Draw the next six cards and place them face down on the table. The team that goes first chooses a card from the table and the opposing team reads it to them. If your team is successful, advance by the number of points you’ve earned. Put the card in a discard pile. Now it’s the next team’s turn.

Repeat for rounds two through four until the card holder is empty.

The packs

There are 12 card packs in the game; each a complete game. These general knowledge packs consist of 30 cards: a rules card, a score card, 4 cards dividing the game into rounds, and 24 question cards. The team furthest along the path after the last question in Round 4 wins.

Round

There are four round cards per game.

These determine which team will start the game in the upcoming round, and may even provide an opportunity to earn extra points.

Questions

Each question falls into one of 6 classic Trivial Pursuit categories: People & Places, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature, and Sports & Recreation. Each card also has a subcategory based on the subject of the question itself.

There are 24 questions in each game (6 in each round), but it’s not just standard questions and answers. In Trivial Pursuit Team there are 6 types of questions to answer and different ways to score.

The Questions Each card contains one of six types of questions: Multiple Choice Choose the correct answer from the four given options. Rating: Response received on first try: 6 points

Second attempt: 3 points

Third attempt: 1 point Are you the expert? Given the category on the back of the card, is a player on your team the expert? If so, unleash that player by answering the question alone. Rating: Solo answer: 6 points

Team Answer: 3 points Reference point Given the connection, answer three questions that share it. Rating: Each answer 2 points. Name 6 Name 6 things from the given category. You only have six guesses, but you don’t lose points for wrong answers. Rating: Each answer 1 point. More or Less Answer either an easy or a difficult question. Rating: Hard: 6 points

Easy: 3 points True or False For five questions, decide whether the answer is right or wrong. Each time you answer correctly, you can either stop and keep your points, or risk your points by answering another question. If you miss a question, you lose all points for that round and the round is over. Rating: Each answer 1 point.

Play on the go

You can also play TP Team on the go. Load a deck of cards into the card holder and you have a game to play anywhere. Each deck contains a score card, so you don’t have to take the game board with you.

the end of the game

The team that goes furthest after the last card is played wins.
