Two pellets where the claim to fame is 4 for the ultimate I think. You double charge even with T7 she will likely blow. Bh209 even more so.

Muzzle Loader Explosion

Shooting the included Remington Premier Accutip 250 grain muzzleloader bullet with the green sabot seated on 160 grains by volume (112 grains by weight) Blackhorn 209. It was said by the folks at Western Powders that this is the maximum load for this gun. Shooting a sub-MOA (7/8″) group at 100 yards. Way to go Remington and Western Powders. Also want to give a shout out to Steven Layne at Laynes Gun & Pawn on Rt. 2 just outside of Huntington, WV. Good Business !!!

Muzzleloader Blow Up

sdporter said: Probably the dumbest thing I’ve personally ever done is, when I was a kid in high school, I made a cannon out of a piece of 1/2″ galvanized pipe (1/8″ wall at best ), a coupling and a plug for the closure. Drilled a hole for a fuse and welded three legs and some landmarks on them in high school welding class. Yes, our welding instructor gave me a grade…

Used to shoot it with a cap full of Goex. I don’t know how much powder that was, I would guess 30 grains or so. For bullets, marbles wrapped in toilet paper. Shoot the whole pound of powder this way. I was staying with a friend and we were shooting it over a hilltop car wash when we ran out of powder. His words: “My dad has some stuff in the garage to reload, he has powder.” We loaded it back up with the standard load, a cap full. It sounded more like a bottle rocket than a cannon, so we put in two capfuls. This time there was a bang. We stood in the back of the garage and watched the widow’s slope as it started. It was LOUD!! We never saw the impact on the hill, I’m sure it vaporized the marble. Blow the plug out the back and took a chunk out of the brick. I hate to admit how stupid I was as a kid. Live and learn I think… Click to enlarge…

Sdporter, you reminded me of the crazy thing that two of my childhood friends did for Christmas around 1960 for entertainment. Her father was the one who got the honor of teaching us how to put blasting powder in a pint of paint and then put the lip on it. The lip had a small hole punched to attach a firecracker to ignite the energy. When fired the explosion would blow the lip off and then produce a nice bright flame after about 15 to 20 minutes. It was exciting and pretty to look at. We had fun with this when one of us suggested using a piece of pump tubing instead of the paint can. The paint can was ephemeral material. So we found a 2″ diameter x 6″ long tube to try our new method from the store. We push the tube into the soft farmland far enough that it stays in the air. Then we filled it with explosive powder. Next, we placed a firecracker on top of the powder and then lit it. OMG! What a roman candle we designed. The only difference was that it was a big, long flame burn that shot up about 20 feet. We had managed to create an improved model of our Roman candle that would far outlast the paint can. We keep burning Roman candles. It was night and the flames could see far so we enjoyed it. Finally, we made the mistake of pouring the powder into the pipe before it had time to cool. I can remember the look of the whistle. Inside it was a deep, dull red. That heat was all it took to ignite the powder once all three of us were right over it. I realized what was going on so I jumped back. My friends didn’t react quickly enough to avoid getting singed hairs. Luckily no one was hurt. But that was enough to scare us. We stopped playing with blasting powder before we got into trouble. I remember there were 6 barrels of powder her father used to blast stumps out of the fields. What a blast!!!

Man blows up his recently gunsmithed rifle…

‘kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Here’s the thin part about this thing, for lack of a better name…..

“However, the Remington 700 Ultimate muzzleloader eliminates the need to fiddle with an array of small Type 209 shotshells that must be carefully hand-selected and seated before firing.

Remington’s new in-line muzzleloader features the same rotating bolt as the Model 700 rifle, which allows a special preloaded brass with a Remington 9 ½ large magnum rifle primer to be pushed into the breech plug much like a centerfire rifle would round in a Single-shot bolt action can be chambered.

Dubbed AMP (“Accelerated Muzzleloader Performance”), the new system allows for easier and faster loading and also creates a gas seal in the primer’s flash hole. The result allows the shooter to load up to 200 grains of powder for increased range, energy and in-game performance. In particular, the 200-grain Remington 700 Ultimate Muzzleloader rifle can more conveniently deliver muzzle energy levels well in excess of 2400 feet per second (about 730 m/s), allowing the ball to remain deadly within 300 yards (over 270 meters) and consistently offers 1″ groups at 100 yards (2.5 cm groups at about 91 yards).’

I have an even BETTER idea, Remington. Why not actually put the charge of the more modern powder INTO that fancy brass cartridge, put the bullet on top of it, and then somehow work the breech out until the ENTIRE cartridge case containing the charge AND the bullet goes in the breech. After you find a way to get rid of the powder, maybe by having a primer IN THE CENTER of the cartridge case so the doohicky on the bolt dingummajig can hit it and set it off.

Hell, you could even call it a “metallic cartridge” and sell millions of them of different sizes for different purposes. I bet you would make a mint!
