The subtitle “BISTROVER” is a portmanteau of “bistro” and “rover”.
New songs are in lime green.
The play and results screen have been redesigned to be easier to read. On the play screen in Single Play or while two players are playing, the top of the screen now shows the title, artist, difficulty level and rating. In Double Play, the lower screen now shows the title, artist, difficulty level and rating, regardless of camera display or TARGET SCORE. Money Score and MAX COMBO have been removed, with only EX-SCORE remaining. On the results screen, beating your personal best now shows a “NEW RECORD” indicator instead of arrows indicating whether you did better or worse. Results screen also now shows the artist of a song, as well as its song name. In addition to these, results screen now shows USE OPTION, which indicates what play options are used (such as MIRROR or RANDOM). The judgement total now shows a pie graph.
New LIGHTNING MODEL Premium Area features: Play Analyzer shows detailed score data from the results screen from your recently played songs. Search songs, jumping the cursor to the relevant song. You can add up to 30 songs from search results to the new “Song Selection Memo” for quick access using the jump icon. Play Video Recorder, added on February 18th, 2021. Like DANCERUSH STARDOM’s PREMIUM mode, Play Video Recorder allows player(s) to record the entire run of the song (barring certain songs that disable this feature). This feature is only available on Japanese cabinets.
Three new options added to TARGET SCORE. Do note that these options are unavailable in ARENA mode: Player Rotate: Start with the player with the lowest score and change to the player with the highest one. PACEMAKER Rotate: Start with A grade and change to AAA+ (located between the middle of two levels) Rival Rotate: Same as Player Rotate, but with your rivals.
All non-FLOOR INFECTION songs from Rootage, gentle stress, soldier’s waltz, and the hidden LEGGENDARIA charts for Be OK, Ristaccia, one or eight, snow storm, and 千年ノ理 are now unlocked by default. All LIGHTNING MODEL cabinet exclusive songs – including unlocks – are playable in the base version by default now, except for the five beatmania IIDX 20th Anniversary Tribute BEST songs.
First beatmania IIDX arcade game since his return in copula to not feature a new song by DJ Mass MAD Izm* on the song list.
System BGM is composed by HuΣeR and the BISTRO LANDING Extra Stage theme is composed by Sota Fujimori.
System voices are provided by Zilch and Tsugaru, who were voiced by Shota Yamamoto and Rie Kugimiya, respectively.
The simplified Options screen known as “Beginner Option” (ビギナーオプション) can now be disabled on the BISTROVER website.
In-game currency is called MOG.
ARENA mode was added on February 24th, 2021. A new bar graph shows a player’s Arena trending performance in each of the 6 Notes Radar values. Values change over time and require at a few credits of Arena to display data (otherwise NO DATA is shown). Pressing VEFX will toggle between the bar graph and the player’s notes radar during the matching screen. This was moved to 1 on the keypad with the release of BPL BATTLE mode. Keys 2/4/6 can now be assigned to make your Q-pro perform an emote (win, lose, attack, etc.)
BPL BATTLE mode was added to LIGHTNING MODEL cabinets on July 1st, 2021. It is based on the competition rules of the BEMANI PRO LEAGUE .
. e-amusement support for beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER ended on January 10th, 2022. Despite the ending of e-amusement support for BISTROVER, the Today Featured Songs feature continues to run. It will end on a later date.

BISTRO LANDING
BISTRO LANDING is beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER’s EXTRA STAGE system, introduced on December 10th, 2020. For Japanese version machines, this only appears on PREMIUM START (which requires PASELI).
To be able to access the event folders, the player must collect three BISTRO LANDING tickets; one can be earned for every credit played, regardless of the mode selected. After the requirement has been met, the folders can be accessed through the standard EXTRA STAGE requirements. By obtaining AAA rank on three songs totaling 33 or more in difficulty and clearing them with the EX-HARD gauge, the event will be accessed immediately, regardless of the number of tickets obtained.
By clearing songs under the BISTRO LANDING folders for the EXTRA STAGE, Bistro Stamps can be earned, which are used to unlock charts for play outside the EXTRA STAGE as well as for additional bonuses. One Bistro Stamp unlocks the NORMAL chart outside of EXTRA STAGE, two the HYPER, three the ANOTHER, and five awards you 100 V-Discs and a Platinum Travel Memebership card of the area.
By obtaining three Platinum Travel Membership cards, players can then access ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE after filling the “BISTRO LANDING Location -SECRET-” gauge by playing songs in the BISTRO LANDING folder. When the gauge is at MAX and the player has 3 BISTRO LANDING tickets, clearing a BISTRO LANDING song on EXTRA STAGE will grant access to ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE. The difficulty played will depend on which difficulty was chosen for EXTRA STAGE.
Keep in mind: To unlock ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, the song you play on EXTRA STAGE must belong to the respective location(s) you unlocked.
The BISTRO LANDING Location -SECRET- gauge will only appear in STANDARD MODE, but PREMIUM START is not required, regardless of version. If the gauge is not present, it cannot be filled.
Depending on the difficulty, the OMES will be forced on a specific groove gauge type, and will be bumped down one gauge type on subsequent plays following a stage failure. NORMAL: Normal gauge HYPER: HARD gauge ANOTHER: EX HARD gauge.
Clearing the OMES will unlock the respective chart for regular play. This must be done for each chart level. Clearing the OMES once will also unlock a new LIGHTNING MODEL Premium Area customization item.
Note that you can only access the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE by clearing the respective three Locations that preceded it:
-65℃: Locations 1 to 3.
Sinus Iridum: Locations 4 to 6.

Meshimase! BISTROVER (召しませ！BISTROVER)
召しませ！BISTROVER is the main unlock event of beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER. It started on December 24th, 2020. This event will appear only if one player plays. e-amusement is required to play the event.
During play, boosts may appear on one or more version folders. Playing a song from one of these folders will give you a bonus to be used in the event. Stacking multiple of the same bonus will provide less of an increase with each further addition. The boosts that appear are based on progress in the last continent you were in; if the continent was completed in the previous play, no boosts will appear. The bonuses are:
Recipe book: Boosts progress if the selected meal is in the first stage.
Plate of food: Boosts progress if the selected meal is in the second stage.
Pot: Boosts progress for the open restaurant.
At the end of a round of play, you will be then taken to a map. Here you choose a continent to go to. Afterwards, you will see three courses of a meal, each divided into two parts: hors d’oeuvre, main, and dessert. Two wheels will then spin: the first will always land on green, and the second can vary depending on how you spin it. Landing on green gives you more boost, yellow less, and red little.
Once all three dishes are fully complete, you then play a slot machine and match dishes best you can to get more people into the restaurant. Once it’s filled to max capacity, you’ll unlock the final song of that area.
Using a DJ VIP PASS BLACK will have the following effects:
Preparing meals: The spinning wheel will be fully green.
Serving meals: The slot machine slots will only be for the best combination.
You have to complete all other regions in order to access Asia 2.
Each continent finished rewards you a Silver Tran Medal. Completing Asia 2 ends the event.

Dan Course Unlocks
The following songs can only be unlocked in the LIGHTNING MODEL version of BISTROVER, done through the exclusive new Kiwami Class mode (段位認定 -極-). It follows similar rules to Eisei Class (永世段位) from the last game. This mode allows you to re-challenge Dan courses that you have previously cleared, but this time based on CLASS courses from earlier beatmania IIDX games (there are no courses below 1st Dan). It also has similar restrictions to Eisei Class:
In order to pass the Kiwami Class version, you must clear the course five times in a row. Failing once will reset your progress.
Each attempt cycles between playing the course regularly and with MIRROR on.
Your gauge is limited to the lowest value it reached during your previous attempt (e.g. if your gauge reached 42% on your first attempt, the gauge on your second attempt will be limited to 42%).
Once you’ve passed the 5th attempt, you will pass the Kiwami Class course and a gold glow will be added to your Class ranking on the login/logout screen. If you’ve cleared a Dan course higher than your current Kiwami Class ranking, your normal Class rank will be shown instead. If the player clears Kaiden Kiwami, its level restriction will be eased when the player have at least 800 plays.
Passing the following classes will allow to unlock two older beatmania IIDX songs, either by clearing the respective course for Single Play, or obtain a corresponding Kiwami Class for Double Play:
Once the two above songs are unlocked, they can be played even on non-LIGHTNING MODEL cabinets.

X-record (read as “cross-record”) is a collaboration event between beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER and SOUND VOLTEX EXCEED GEAR. This event could only be played on beatmania IIDX LIGHTNING MODEL and SOUND VOLTEX -Valkyrie model- machines. It started on April 7th, 2021 and ended on September 30th, 2021.
By playing beatmania IIDX during this event, you will earn 10 LM and 1 VM per play. Earning 100 VM unlocks BLACK or WHITE?, while earning 200 VM and 200 LM unlocks ディスコルディア.
WORLD TOURISM
The WORLD TOURISM event started on June 17th, 2021.
Event folders are added to the selection in one player Standard Mode only, playable on any stage. Playing a song from any folder will bring up a board with ten spaces between START and GOAL. Five spaces are awarded for playing a song (clear or fail does not matter), and an extra space is awarded for fulfilling each of the following conditions:
DJ LEVEL AA or HARD CLEAR (or better)
PREMIUM START (Japan only)
LIGHTNING MODEL play
Once the Q-Pro reaches the GOAL, a bonus is awarded, and the remaining spaces will carry over to the next board in the folder. If on the last board, the remaining spaces are lost.

After playing a song from an event folder, the folders will disappear for the rest of the credit. Once the song has been unlocked from a folder, it will disappear from the selection entirely.

The WEEKLY RANKING feature was added to beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER on November 11th, 2020. The WEEKLY RANKING song changes every Wednesday at 12:00 noon.
You earn a star (the day after the period for a song ends) if your score in the leaderboards for the featured song’s chart is high enough. Note that stars depend on each song’s chart on both single and double play, not on the whole song itself, which means you can earn up to six stars per song.
In the songlist menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the featured song’s chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards:
White star: if the arrow is located in the white section.
