Epilogue

Drop Ishtvan’s body into the abyss: When you reach the necropolis, a tortured soul will cry out to you for help. This is Ishtvan. After you encounter a Black Guard Archer, look of to the right for a pin holding a chain in place. Walk down the ledge to get to it and pull the pin.

Now go down the stairs, to the left and around the corner. You’ll find a glowing pit with a body suspended over it. To the left of this is a broken spiral staircase. Climb the chain to get up the stairs. Up the stairs you’ll see an impressive statue, and a Vampire Knight, a Necrolord and a Lich. Across a wooden arch you can get to the other pin. Ishtvan is free now. Right to the left of the standing statue (your left, not the statue’s), there’s a switch to open a spiral staircase down. When you get to the bottom, work your way around the path and walk up to the glowing pit. Ishtvan will thank you and you’ll get your skill points.

Destroy the four Lich Kings that have sealed the doors to the final chamber of the Necropolis: Walk around to the far side of the glowing pit. On the other side you’ll find some zombies. Don’t get to confident as you cut them down; There’s an undead Cyclops and some Vampire Knights just ahead, so heal up. That Sword of the Dragonclaw will make this Cyclops fight a little easier than the last, but the pattern is the same. There’s a rope to cut that will drop a rock pendulum that might help you.

When you clean house use the rope bow to work your way up the tall structure with the stairs around it. From there jump to the ledge on the wall of the room, and work your way around to the other side. When you get to the other side, hop, step by step, and then kill the Necrolords below. In the back corner there’s a rope to cut, that will lower a beam with a chain on it and allow you to jump through a hole in the wall into the next room.

You’ll find a spiral staircase leading up. Immediately after is a booby trapped room. This trap is activated by a pressure sensitive panel (highlighted below) and if you just jump over it, you can run right through. Just beyond this is another similar trap. This one’s harder to avoid, but if you run past it quickly it shouldn’t pose a threat. To the left you’ll find yourself high up in a large open room with some Vampire Knights milling about. If you like, take them out while you’re up here with some magic or archery. Then work your way down and clean house.

There’s Magic Mushrooms all over here, if you hadn’t noticed. In the next room over, find the broken gate and go through. Just beyond this is Vradek. If you saved Ishtvan he will aid you in your fight against the others. Use the Sword of the Dragonclaw if you can and stay close and you’ll make short work of these guys. Two objectives complete! One to go.

Find and take the Skull of Shadows from Arantir: The huge gate should now be open. When you go through it will close behind you. Work your way around this next area. After a couple left turns look for a door to your right that can be opened with a lever. This is the tomb of a great priest and you can heal here. Then keep working your way down until you get to the next loading break.

Back and to the left of this next area you’ll find Leanna (if she’s alive) and an area overlooking Arantir’s operation. Go down the steps. If you’re escorting Leanna, take comfort in the fact that she is much stronger now than before and can take some punishment. Accidentally hitting her won’t end your game, either. All the way down the steps you’ll find you target.

You can sneak up on Arantir if you like. The first stage of the fight isn’t very hard. He can cloak himself, so stay close and keep hacking. After a while he’ll summon an undead Pao Kai. Magic and archery are the best defensive approaches to taking down this beast. However, if you don’t have strong spellcasting or archery abilities, you can take the melee. To do this, stay close to Arantir on the altar (he won’t attack you) and lure the beast just above you. Hack at his belly until he vanishes. When you kill the Pao Kai, you’ll have a few seconds to attack Arantir before he summons another. You might have to go through this two or three times before you finish him off.

Now you’ll be met with the final decision: Free your father by taking the skull to the altar beyond the gate, or put it in its place on the altar where you picked it up to use it to defeat him. This, along with your decision to purge Xana will determine the ending you get.
