인텔 HD Graphics 4000에서 UHD 해상도 설정하기

얼마전에 노트북을 한성 보스몬스터 x53중고 노트북으로 바꾸고 잠깐 사용하다 모니터가 좀 더 컸으면 좋겠다 생각해서 이것저것 알아보다 이왕 사용하는 거 해상도가 좀 높은 것으로 바꿔보자는 마음이 들어서 가격도 저렴한 모니터가 눈에 띄어서 UHD 해상도의 모니터로 바꿨습니다.

그런데 문제는 그때서부터 발생하더라고요.

문제는 제 노트북이 10년가까이 된 오래된 노트북이라 UHD해상도가 자동으로 잡히지 않는 다는 걸 알았던겁니다.

처음 모니터를 알아볼때는 노트북 그래픽카드가 내장 그래픽은 인텔 HD graphics 4000은 uhd지원이 안될수도 있겠지만 외장그래픽카드인 amd radeon HD 7970m은 그래도 나름 성능이 괜찮아서 uhd까지는 지원할 것 같아서 구매를 한 것인데 아직까지도 모니터를 외장 그래픽카드로 잡는 방법은 알아내지 못했고 기본 그래픽카드로 잡히는 인텔 hd graphics 4000에서 UHD를 설정하는 방법을 검색을 통해서 찾아냈기에 저 같이 저사양의 노트북사용자들도 사용자설정으로 보다 넓은 해상도를 사용해 보시라고 포스팅을 하고자 합니다.

위 그림은 노트북에서 그래픽카드가 두개인 상태를 보여주는 것이다. 그런데 노트북 중에는 Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 등과 Geforce GT 640M 과 같이 그래픽 카드가 두개인 상태라면 대부분이 Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 이 기본 출력장치로 사용된다고 한다.

앞서 Geforce GT 640M이 3840 X 2160 (UHD)를 지원한다는 내용을 정리했었는데 Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000은 지원하지 못한다.

위 그림은 해상도를 변경하려고 한 것인데 1920 X 1080(FHD) 이상되는 해상도가 없다. 여기 나타나야 선택해서 변경하는데 말이다.

변경을 하려면 해상도를 추가해줘야 한다. 그 방법은 아래와 같은 과장이다.

1. UHD 모니터 연결한다.

2. 바탕화면에서 오른쪽 마우스 버튼을 클릭해서 그래픽 속성(인텔제어판)을 클릭한다.

3. [고급모드] -> [사용자 정의 해상도]로 들어간다.

4. 너비: 2560, 높이: 1440, 화면주사율: 55, 색농도 : 32bit, 타이밍 표준 : CVT-RB 를 선택한다.

5. 추가 버튼을 클릭한다. (만약 대역폭을 초과했다고 나오면 화면 주사율 55 -> 50 -> 35 순으로 조정해본다. 리스트에 들어가면 된 것이다. 이렇게 몇개의 해상도를 넣어준다.)

6. 재부팅한다.

7. 화면해상도를 열어서 추가한 해상도를 선택하여 적용시킨다.

이 과정을 수행하면 된다.

최대 대역폭을 초과하면 위와 같이 메시지가 나온다.

그럼 너비, 높이, 화면주사율을 바꿔가면서 해상도를 추가하면 된다.

이제 해상도를 변경하면 아래와 같이 2560 X 1440 해상도가 선택된 모습을 볼 수 있다.

이런 과정을 수행하면 UHD를 사용하지 못할 수도 있지만, FHD보다는 크게는 사용할 수 있다.

해상도를 추가할때 대역폭 범위를 초과하면 아래와 같은 메시지 창이 나오면서 해상도는 추가되지 않는다.

You may notice that the Intel graphics control panel previously had custom resolution settings but they are missing since upgrading the graphics driver for your Dell computer. This is by design as this function was determined not to be useful for current hardware configurations.

Do I have the Custom Resolutions/Modes feature enabled on my computer?

NOTE: High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) or DisplayPort (DP) monitor connections are required for the Custom Resolutions option. VGA and DVI display connections are not supported.

In some cases, this functionality is desirable and you may wish to enable it, once this option is rolled back to the previous version driver that had the capability desired.

If you wish to enable this function with the current driver, follow the steps listed below:

NOTE: If you are using the latest control panel version, the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel – you will not see Custom Resolutions/Modes in the control panel. You will need to follow these steps below in order to create a new mode.

Verify you have the latest Intel Graphics Driver . If you have verified that you are using a newer driver version, check the Intel graphics driver properties window to see if the feature is available. Open the Intel graphics properties by either pressing Ctrl+Alt+F12, or Right-Clicking the Windows desktop and selecting Graphics Properties. If prompted to select an application mode, select Advanced Mode. On the Display Devices tab, check if the Custom Resolutions/Modes button is available. If you do not have a Custom Resolutions/Modes button after you update to the latest version of the driver, remove all of the profiles left from previous driver versions then reboot the system. Then create a custom driver profile using the CustomModeApp.exe as above. Reboot or just re-launch the Graphics Properties dialogue as above and you will have a custom profile visible in the Graphics Properties dialogue box.

NOTE: If the control panel doesn’t recognize your model of display then you may have to create a custom profile for the display. EXAMPLE: U2711 monitor – create a custom profile of 2560, 1440, 52p, CVT-RB to get the best resolution that HDMI 1.4 will support.
