Planet Crafter Uranium: How to find, mine and craft
What is Uranium used for in Planet Crafter?
Uranium is a high-tier crafting material used in The Planet Crafter. This glowing, green ore is an uncommon material to find. It is a crucial component for creating nuclear reactors for power generation, and players will need to produce many to push through the later terraformation stages.
Uranium is also a key component in creating Rocket Engines. Players will need significant amounts of Uranium to power the top-tier crafted machines and send rockets into orbit.
Where to find Uranium
Planet Crafter Uranium is a rare find in the early game. Players will first come across Uranium in Uranium caves, where it can be harvested immediately. Later on, these caves can be mined using tier 2 extractors, at which point players can acquire a regular stream of Uranium.
Uranium cave locations
The location of the current Uranium caves can be seen in the screenshot below. Players will be able to generate this map in-game once they’ve launched the Tier 3 Information Rocket introduced via the Caves and Crater Update.
Farming those meteor showers
Once the launch platform is unlocked, players can launch asteroids attraction rockets into orbit, attracting Uranium meteors to the planet. Each meteor shower will deposit enough Uranium to create at least a couple of uranium rods with some extra. Players can send up these rockets for a quick infusion of Uranium while working up their Heat index.
Items that require Uranium in Planet Crafter
The following craftable items in Plant Crafter require Uranium to craft, whether as ore or as Uranium rods:
Nuclear Reactor T1 – Uranium rod x 1
Nuclear Reactor T2 – Uranium rod x 3
Uranium Rod – Uranium ore x 9
Rocket Engine – Uranium ore x 2
Pulsar Quartz – Uranium ore x 1
Shredder Machine – Uranium ore x 1
How to get or craft Uranium rods
Uranium rods are crafting components of the nuclear reactors, and they are either found as loot or crafted at an advanced crafting station. The advanced crafting station unlocks at 175KTi and is the only method for crafting Uranium bars at this point in the game’s development. A single Uranium rod takes 9 pieces of Uranium ore to craft.
Uranium is a component of Pulsar Quartz crafting
If you thought Uranium was already in high demand, it is also a component of crafting Pulsar Quartz. Pulsar Quartz is used to create the game’s current top-tier energy source, Nuclear Reactors. If you are out to start creating nuclear reactors, you’ll want to start putting Uranium aside and farming Osmium and Zeolite in the same fashion as Uranium.
Thanks to the Caves and Crater update, players are now able to use Tier 2 extractors inside of the Zeolite cave to extract Zeolite, which makes Pulsar Quartz crafting a sustainable practice.
Tips for getting Uranium in Planet Crafter
Due to the scarcity of Pulsar Quartz for making Nuclear Fusion reactors, and the need to create many rockets, players will want to establish a steady stream of Uranium harvesting as early as possible. The best method is to set up tier 2 extractors in Uranium caves. The steady trickle of Uranium gathering will enable players to create the necessary Uranium rods to create the Nuclear Reactors for energy.
If the Uranium caves are far away from your main base of operations, consider building a mini base nearby to collect the extractor’s ores and store them in lockers. Create an advanced crafting station to process the Uranium into rods and convert the various ores into Super Alloy. This tactic will also make transporting items back to the main base easier.

How to Get Uranium in The Planet Crafter
Are you looking for Uranium in The Planet Crafter? This Planet Crafter Uranium guide will tell you where to find it — and how you can use it to increase power generation.
What is Uranium Used for in The Planet Crafter?
Uranium is used in a handful of Crafting recipes, but its most important use is for making Uranium Rods. Uranium Rods, in turn, are used to make Nuclear Reactors — and those will power all of your Buildings much better than anything else.
You can get Uranium from falling Asteroids once you’ve unlocked the Launch Platform and launched the appropriate rocket into space, but it’s much easier to mine it by building an Ore Extractor in the right location. Additionally, Uranium seems to be one of the rarer resources — there are only a handful of spawn points compared to the other materials that you can mine with an Ore Extractor.
You should focus on getting Ore Extractors online in a Uranium-rich location as soon as you’ve unlocked the first Nuclear Generator — its power output outclasses everything else you can build up to that point and the higher-tier Terraforming equipment is going to draw a lot of Power. Ore Extractors take a lot of Power, too, and you want to automate as much as possible as quickly as you can.
