How do you transfer energy from steam dynamo?
Steam is used at a rate of 40mB/tick, but only if the dynamo is over half-full of Steam. Fuel and water can be ducted into the dynamo or inserted manually. To manually add fuel to the dynamo, right click the unit and place the fuel into the fuel slot. Water can be added by right clicking the dynamo with a water bucket.
How do you pick up steam dynamo?
Obtaining. A placed steam dynamo can be instantly picked up by dismantling it with a wrench. Its configuration is preserved in the item. It can also be mined using a pickaxe, though this can be much slower.
How do you augment a dynamo?
A basic machine or dynamo cannot be augmented. Some augments can be installed multiple times, stacking their effects. Certain augments are classified as ‘specializations’.
How did steam trains generate electricity?
When it was desired for steam locomotives to use electricity for headlights and lighting in a locomotive, a method had to be devised to generate electricity from steam. A steam-powered generator was used. Pyle-National became a major producer of these steam-powered generators or “dynamos” as they were known.
How do you use dynamo enervation?
Usage. The Enervation Dynamo is used to produce RF from items like Redstone and Energy cells (the cells aren’t used up it just drains the energy). The Dynamo then creates/transfers 80 RF/t (without upgrades in the dynamo). To change the orientation of the dynamo, use a Crescent Hammer.

Steam Dynamo
Steam Dynamo
A steam dynamo is a dynamo fueled by water and solid fuel.
Obtaining
A placed steam dynamo can be instantly picked up by dismantling it with a wrench. Its configuration is preserved in the item. It can also be mined using a pickaxe, though this can be much slower.
Crafting
Upgrading
A steam dynamo is initially at the lowest tier (basic). It can be upgraded to higher tiers using upgrade kits and conversion kits.
Usage
Placement
When placed, a steam dynamo faces up. When placed while sneaking, it faces away from the player. A steam dynamo can face any direction, and can be rotated using a wrench.
Energy generation
A steam dynamo has a fuel slot and a water tank. When fuel is placed in its fuel slot and the tank is filled with water, the dynamo will start consuming both to generate Redstone Flux. Every unit of fuel yields a certain amount of energy when consumed. Water is consumed in batches of 100 mB to generate 25,000 RF at a time.
The speed at which energy is generated and fuel is consumed depends on how much power can be emitted, and on the dynamo’s maximum power output. A basic steam dynamo has a maximum power output of 40 RF/t. This can be increased by upgrading the dynamo to a higher tier, and by installing certain augments.
When an active steam dynamo cannot emit the energy it generates, it will keep working at its minimum power output (a tenth of its maximum power output). Any more energy that is generated in this case is lost. This can be resolved by installing an excitation field limiter.
Input and output
A steam dynamo emits Redstone Flux from its coil, which points in the direction the dynamo is facing. It only emits energy when it is active. Fuel and water can enter a steam dynamo through its sides. They cannot enter it through the coil, unless transmission coil ducting is installed.
Redstone control
A steam dynamo may be configured to respond to redstone signals. It can be in one of three modes:
Ignored Redstone control is disabled. The dynamo works whenever possible. This is the default mode. Low The dynamo works when not powered. When powered, it stops working. High The dynamo only works when powered.
The current mode can be set using the Redstone Control tab in the dynamo’s GUI.
When a steam dynamo is deactivated by a redstone signal and is still generating energy from a consumed unit of fuel, it will finish generating energy from that unit of fuel first.
Security
A steam dynamo can have a signalum security lock installed to restrict who can access it.
Redprints
A steam dynamo’s configuration can be saved on a redprint to be copied to other dynamos.
Light source
When a steam dynamo that produces Redstone Flux is active, it emits a light level of 7.
Tiers
Steam dynamos come in six tiers.
Tier Max. power output Augment slots Basic 40 RF/t 0 Hardened 60 RF/t 1 Reinforced 80 RF/t 2 Signalum 100 RF/t 3 Resonant / Creative 120 RF/t 4
Augmentation
A steam dynamo can have augments installed to improve certain properties or to change how it works. The amount of augments that can be installed depends on the dynamo’s tier. A basic steam dynamo cannot be augmented.
Augments can be installed in the Augmentation tab in a steam dynamo’s GUI.
Fuels
A steam dynamo accepts all items that can be used as fuel in a furnace, except for those that leave items in a furnace’s fuel slot after being consumed, like lava buckets.
*: Items with very short burn times (less than 300 ticks) cannot be used as fuel.

The Steam Dynamo is a power-generating machine from Thermal Expansion. Like all other Dynamos, it generates Redstone Flux at a rate of 80 RF/tick. The Steam Dynamo requires Steam to generate power; Steam may be supplied directly via Fluiducts, or the dynamo may instead be supplied with Water and a fuel such as Coal, Charcoal, or Coal Coke.
A more sustainable source of water can be created by connecting the dynamo to a water pipe using Liquiduct or by placing the dynamo on top of a Aqueous Accumulator.
Like other dynamos, the Steam Dynamo will only output power in one direction, the other sides of the block can be used to connect ducting. When placing the dynamo, the output direction will typically be up unless the block has been placed beside a block capable of consuming power. If the block is placed beside multiple blocks capable of consuming power the output direction can be changed using the Wrench.
Fuel Duration (ticks) Steam (buckets) RF* Charcoal 300 12 24,000 Coal 400 16 32,000 Coal Coke 600 24 48,000 Alumentum 1.200 48 96,000 Block of Coal 4,000 160 320,000 Block of Coal Coke 5,400 216 432,000
*Actual yield will be less, because 2 buckets of steam are not used to generate power.
For continual use it is more efficient (over 2.5x) to use the solid fuel on one or two 1 cubic meter HP Steam Boiler and use the steam on the Steam Dynamo or Steam Turbine. For example a stack of Charcoal will generate 1,532,000 RF on the Steam Dynamo alone and 4,320,800 RF on a Steam Dynamo powered from a cold 1 cubic meter HP Steam Boiler.
Additionally, it is more efficient to power Steam Dynamos off of a Block of Coal rather than regular Coal. An additional 32,000 RF will be generated from the Block of Coal than if 9 regular pieces of Coal were used, which is essentially an extra Coal for free.
