First, I had the laser treatment done for my acne. It was kind of painful but the after care was soothing and I was made well aware that the treatment only works with multiple sessions. The price was very affordable and the service was great. Thanks hushu! (I also want to mention that this was not sponsored in any way and is my honest opinion!)

3 Eva Q. 2 years ago After the treatment process, I regret coming to this clinic. I came here to get my black heads removed and had the aqua cleaning for 187,000W. They brought me into a dimly lit room where they proceeded to massage my face and get it ready for the aqua peeling. I don’t they could have even seen my black heads in that lighting. My main concern was my nose and after the treatment, I still had blackheads on my nose. I even told the translator following the procedure and I’m pretty sure she saw the blackheads as well. She just said that “they were too small to be sucked out”. These weren’t small like the translator had claimed. It was big enough for me to squeeze out. I paid ~$160 USD for my main concern to not be dealt with. It was definitely upsetting. Overall my skin quality did improve with some black head removal but I definitely think that they could’ve have done a better job and they could’ve at least put a light over my face to see what they were doing. Extra star for giving us a few masks. 👍 Initially, I was planning to write an amazing 5 star review for this clinic based on the appointment process and consultation.

Their dermatologist who was very young , probably in his early 30’s, was friendly and listened to my concerns but their recommendations was very conservative and nothing impressive. I chose not to get any treatment at this clinic due to the very unfriendly and unprofessional behavior of the translator because I felt if they treat me like this before the treatment, probably they won’t care about me as their patient after they receive the money. I give them 2 stars only because their dermatologist was friendly although I wasn’t impressed with the diagnosis. They are more about marketing than real patient care. Don’t recommend this clinic.
1 B J. 2 years ago I was very excited for my consultation and flew to Seoul because of the raving reviews I found here. The receptionist received me well and her English was good enough for a consultation. They told me the appointment would cost 30,000 Korean won which amounts to about $26. The doctor was very young and absurdly arrogant. I was looking for a scar revision and they seemed to have the appropriate lasers for my case (all from the US which made me wonder why I travelled this far if nothing was any different from the lasers back home). The doctor examined my scar and suggested 3 different laser treatments, but was unable to provide any pictures because he hadn’t treated a case like mine before – which in my opinion isn’t a very complicated one. Undecided, I said I had to do some thinking- I did not feel comfortable to go ahead with the treatment after the few words he gave me, quite dismissively. I asked him if he could suggest any other treatment or products for my skin- a question I have asked many other dermatologists- because I was interested in the Korean cosmetic products. He laughed at me and said that his receptionist could answer this question and pretty much booted me out of his office. I have consulted with doctors in the US, South America and Europe and not once was I treated this rudely. The receptionist suggested I stopped by Olive and Young- a mix of Sephora and CVS- a joke. She proceeded to say that well, unfortunately I had to pay for the consultation when I hadn’t even made my final decision – did she really think I was going to walk away without paying $26 ? It was insulting and an overall terrible experience that I would NOT recommend to anyone. STAY AWAY: the doctors seem to be too young and inexperienced. Communication was a big issue in addition to the arrogance of the doctor who “examined” me for 20seconds that day. A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.

It’s like they can just make up any fee for the consultation and you’d pay for it. What a scam! Some of the staff were particularly condescending too as mentioned in the other reviews. Don’t know why this place is supposed to be good.

I spent too much money and time only to be talked down to (prior to an appointment) in the lobby for both dermatology and dental patients to hear. Please find my experience below :
First of all if you are looking for :
– a skilled dermatologist who cares about your skin
– a skin clinic with a good service and excellent care follow up and foreigner-friendly with interpreters in English, Chinese and Japanese
DO NOT go to Hushu Dermatology clinic in Apgujeong.
I had a treatment to remove a light redness and rosacea on cheeks and nose. I paid 1.200.000 wons for a 5-session package.
In the 1st session they used the laser suggested by the doctor at my very first consultation. I got Gentle Max (Candela) laser treatment. Almost no side effect, only a stronger redness than usual for one day that could be covered with BB cream.
The next month I was sitting in the laser treatment room and the woman in charge of me came by to move me to another room to get a treatment from another laser machine they received recently.
She guaranteed me it was same as the 1st laser and that I would not get any strong side effect. I was worried because I had to work the next day and important meetings the week after. And also I was happy with a no downtime laser.
They used VBeam Perfecta (Candela) which is a PDL (pulsed dye laser).
They started doing about 25 impacts and finally stopped because obviously there was an issue.
I didnt get any explanation, only an ice pack on my face for 15 minutes and finally when someone came in the room I asked to give me a mirror. I couldnt help but cry I guess you understand when you look at my picture.
I had to take the next day off, and find a solution to go to work the next week. I finally ended up wearing 2 adhesive plasters on my face for the next 3 weeks + a paper mask when I was out of office or home. As it is still no totally recovered today (redness caused by laser visible), I have to cover with BB cream (it has been 2 weeks).
Also it was painful during 10 days (day and night) because the Vbeam laser, which is supposed to destroy the broken vessels (that cause dark purpura spots) and not damage the skin, had obviously damaged my skin (bleeding appeared from day 3) caused by strong settings. I could feel pain when I was speaking, eating, anytime I moved my mouth.
After all scabs were gone, now I have hole scars (like acne scar) which I definitely didnt have before the treatment.
Medical mistake or unexpected event happens. But after looking on internet, it seems that purpura is predictable for VBeam laser so this is a medical mistake : I get no warning or information about potential side effects. Secondly the way Hushu clinic had managed my skin nightmare were totally unprofessional from the beginning to the end.
Hushu provides acne, anti-aging, pigmentation, botox, derma fillers, chemical peels, medical skincare, body contouring, hair transplant and scalp care treatments. Hushu provides also dental treatments.
They have two branchs, one in Gangnam and one in Apgujeong but here Im only sharing my experience in Apgujeong with Dr. Moon-Seok Shin and his staff.
They have several kinds of laser machine, brand new and reputed efficient. BUT who cares about the laser machine if it is manipulated by an unskilled doctor? These laser machines have to be set depends on your skin sensibility and condition. But in Hushu they treat each patient the same way : you are only patient lambda with skin lambda. Unlucky you, first you have a skin problem to treat and even more unlucky you if actually you have a sensitive skin ! If your skin doesnt react as a lambda skin does, you are f****d, I mean, its an accident, its not your over titled, specialized in skin medicine doctors medical fault.
Why do you expect a dermatologist to treat your skin with an adapted treatment? Business is business. Less time to examine a patient condition = more consultations per day = more money = more friendly services to propose such as free internet, free coffee, free candies, and more multi-lingual lovely women staff to hire = excellent service for international patients
Hushu is proud of its excellent service for international patients aware of 2010. But obviously the service gets worse in 2012. The customer staff woman in charge of English patient, Miss Jennis Pyun, was kind at first but finally got silly when they had this unfortunate accident on my face skin.
She accused me to be responsible of my scars (why me?? Because I used some cream and plaster prescribed by another dermatologist I had to consult to heal my skin). She easily lost her control and started yelling at me on the phone, asking why I wanted to meet the dermatologist who scarred my face. According to her he had nothing more to tell me : ok, ok I admit that I met him 4 times a total of 15 minutes in 2 weeks, thats surely enough (the doctor examined my face 3 times on day 3, 9, 12 for 1 minute each time. And I had one opportunity to talk with him about my skin condition and how to solve this problem for 10 min). She pushed me to sue the clinic. Obviously they dont care about losing unlucky patients coz they have plenty of other new patients waiting to get a treatment.
In this clinic, there is no prescription for the following weeks if you get bad unexpected side effects. They ask you to come every day (who cares about your time and social life now you have a disfigured face) to check and massage your skin with cream. For men you may appreciate coz only nurses are available. You will not meet and have a face massage or control from the dermatologist because hes taking good care of other patients (dont forget : money, money!). No prescription because you have some cream on your face and also they will give you a cherry-sized amount of additional cream. Why having a prescription for you at home as the clinic is your new home ?
Anyway for the doctor my skin was ok, no problem, you can cover with BB cream (hes not an expert in make up I presume).
Also dont expect them to give you something to protect and cover your bruises outside. Its on-demand service. Sometimes you have to ask strongly because they think its better not to cover the bruises for a quick healing. I finally convinced them to find me a solution : I had a nice plastic nose to fix with a ton of adhesive tape! The nurse also found funny to suggest me to tell my coworkers that I broke my nose (HA-HA the best joke ever).
To conclude :
– No warning about side effect
– Risk taking behavior by using any laser on any skin
– No skin expertise
– No explanation and medical follow up by the doctor
– No prescription
– Nice realistic Halloween mask (unfortunately Halloween only lasts one day)
